My partner has more conservative values, such as being against abortion and not really understanding all the 'political correctness'. It doesn't affect our relationship, though. He has his views and I have mine. I wouldn't say our views are wildly different, but we definitely don't see eye-to-eye on every issue. Why, then, is your political identity such a big deal for gay men in the US, or is it? Maybe you just don't have enough political parties if it's just too black and white.
