How sad
I wonder if he killed himself on the anniversary of his son's suicide? Very sad.

Large, uncut cock, healthy sexual appetite, lasted for hours.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 4, 2019 1:56 PM |
I wonder if it was clinical depression. He wasn't aging particularly well...which is a comment about perhaps there was some stuff going on internally, rather than physically. A person's appearance is affected by his mental state, sometimes. In other words, "It shows on your face." In recent pics, his "facial symmetry" seemed off. I know, I sound like a nutjob, myself! LOL . Very very sad to hear this. He was prolific in the daytime TV industry, a familar handsome face for decades. RIP.

I'm in such shock over this. Perhaps I was just confusing him with his character, but he always seemed so strong. I knew he'd had emotional problems lately, but I never thought this would happen in a million years. RIP to a truly groundbreaking actor.

R3, it was his nose. It was starting to look Artie Lange-ish. St. John had a history of drug use. Perhaps combined with his depression, it led to this......

I mix him up with Shemar Moore.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 4, 2019 2:36 PM |
I am getting a suicidal vibe from this. I wasn't aware that Kristoff, like his Y&R character Neil Winters, suffered from alcoholism. I agree with R3 that he has seemed withdrawn and depressed on-screen for awhile now.

His son killed himself in 2014 while being treated at a mental health facility; he and his ex-wife sued for negligence and got a settlement but not without a lot of drama and heartache. Hope they are both at peace.

R3, it does indeed show in the face.
I asked an actor pal to send me his most recent head shots last summer and when I got them I thought geez, either bad lighting or maybe he's older? I will always regret not reading more into them at the time.
He killed himself last year.

I remember reading this interview he gave years ago. He talked about how his mother was estranged from her conservative Polish American family because she married Kristoff’s father. Some family members even snubbed her on the street when they saw her with her kids. Only when he became a successful actor did they warm up to him. Fuck them.

A tweet about Kristoff and the Winters family. I find it kind of sad that Kristoff's work on Generations which featured a black family from the start is forgotten or not known to many soap fans.

by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 4, 2019 7:38 PM |
R81 40 years ago an actress from Days of our Lives (Brenda Benet) killed herself. She was in the middle of a storyline, there was no way they could kill her off.
So they had one of the characters read a letter sent by her, saying she need time away and she was leaving town. We never heard from her again.

TMZ update:
11:00 AM PT -- A source close to Kristoff tells us the actor had checked himself into UCLA Medical Center in January for depression issues ... and had just been released within the last few days. We're told his depression was linked, in part, to his son, Julian's suicide years ago.

Dealing with their own lives, their own problems and their own families?
Unless you know what their relationship was to him in the "present," you have no clue whether or not they tried to talk to him or he expressed any of what he was going through to them.
There's a reason why many people are shocked when someone commits suicide. Sometimes they have no clue that there's an issue. Not everyone is open about what they are feeling inside and not everyone is around someone long enough to observe what they're really doing when they're alone.
As someone who has lost a couple of friends to this horrible way to go out: for neither of them was it the first time they tried it and both were determined to get it done. They did.
For as much crap as the series, "13 Reasons Why" got it did get a few things right. The reasons the main character killed herself were both real (because of incidents that occurred) and imagined (because of things in her mental state that she imagined happened) and her attempts at reaching out were sometimes clear to people around her (who ignored her) and sometimes not clear at all (because people can't read minds) but in the end the real tragedy was that she was gone and there was nothing anyone could do to bring her back.

To be honest, if you didn't know about his personal struggles, you would have thought the fact he was not on Y&R a lot in the last few years was because of budget cuts or new regimes not wanting to utilize him.

Kristoff was also a child actor (he played a young Alex Haley in Roots: The Next Generation) and he appeared on Cosby Show as Denise's boyfriend. He was also on the groundbreaking Generations which was the first soap to have a core African American family who was the focus of the show. It's not a stretch that Viola would know who he was.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | February 4, 2019 11:28 PM |
r127 I mean, Generations was no Guiding Light-The first soap to feature black actors. It is mind blowing that James Earl Jones was replaced by Billy Dee Williams and Rudy Dee was replaced by Cicely Tyson! Their characters played husband/wife. Husband was a doctor.
Anyway- very sad about Kristoff. I've heard losing a child is just a special kind of hell. I really cannot imagine the pain. I'm sorry he couldn't find the help he needed.

I had the pleasure of keeping him entertained on the phone way back in 1999. I was working in radio, low level producer, and it was either just after the cancellation of Another World was announced, or after its last episode. He was the first actual soap actor to comment live in our city. There were several delays that day, storm reports, so he and I chatted as we waited. He couldn't have been sweeter. Good sense of humour about himself. Also, I vividly remember his voice going deeper than I've ever heard on TV.
He promised to take me out the next time he was in town. As if. But it made me start recording his show for a while. I was already quite familiar with it, and his character.

by Anonymous | reply 170 | February 5, 2019 3:02 PM |
What EXACTLY should the cast have done? Move in with him? Monitor his every move for an indefinite period of time? Follow him through out the day? Control his finances? Again, why is that the responsibility of his co-workers? They have lives too. Where was his family? Friends?
He made a decision to stop moving forward after his horrible life tragedy. No amount of Esther Valentine’s cheerfulness or Mamie’s sticky buns would have changed his course.

Mental health is still so sadly stigmatized. If he was on a certain path I’m not sure what anyone could have done. The poor man. It sounds like by all accounts he was a great man. R161, I was just wondering how R72 knows for a fact that Joshua Morrow had gay sex.
I find it intriguing because Joshua has always seemed like such a straight frat boy type. And he's married to a woman and has 4 kids.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | February 5, 2019 10:25 PM |
Why is it assumed that it was suicide? If couldn't been accidental alcohol poisoning.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | February 5, 2019 10:33 PM |
It's everything put together, R191: unrelenting grief in the aftermath of his son's suicide, his recent stay in a mental health treatment center, multiple reports that he seemed unwell. And he didn't necessarily have to have planned a suicide by alcohol, complete with dosage and note. He may very well have started drinking spontaneously, and then decided that he wasn't going to stop until he was certain he would never wake up again.

Agreed. KSJ got hotter as he got older. He was sort of weird looking when he debuted on y and r in 1991. Neil was a kind of milquetoast character who excelled when the character was less than perfect I.e. his alcoholism on the show. Long time watcher of the show and I do miss Drucilla, Olivia and Malcolm. Bill Bell had an eye for actors and what made the show tick.

There isn't that long of a turnover between taping & broadcast for daytime soap operas.
by Anonymous | reply 202 | February 6, 2019 12:07 AM |
R201 6-7 weeks in advance. Y and R Facebook said tomorrow is his last appearance. Neil doesn’t have any storyline anyway and he was dealing with his issues so it was deliberate they sent him out of town.
by Anonymous | reply 203 | February 6, 2019 12:09 AM |
Everyone here stating that the cast of Y&R should have done something- Let us remember that these folks do not all work 5 days a week. Most of the actors work 3 days a week- Kristoff worked maybe 1 or 2 days a MONTH in recent months/years to my knowledge? If you all spend time with your co-workers after work and on weekends, then you are living in a parallel universe to the one I live in
At the company I work for most people would not spit on each other if they were burning-
This man seemed to be ADORED by his co-workers- but there are lines in life. He appeared to be extremely close with Doug Davidson, Bryton, and Daniel Goddard. But men are men, and Eric Braeden has been pretty damn eloquent in explaining that people just didn't bring these subjects up. And maybe they should.
Bottom line, this man was truly LOVED. And truly loved others. Too much, maybe. What a good person. That is a legacy.

I watched Y&R during the Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), Drucilla (Victoria Rowell), Malcolm (Shemar Moore), and Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams) days. The Malcolm and Drucilla characters were definitely more fun, I'm sure, for the actors to play. In retrospect, Kristoff reminds me of Barack Obama, dignified in demeanor. Aretha Franklin was a huge Y&R fan. I think the popularity of Y&R in the black community was due to the Neil/Drucilla/Malcolm/Olivia story lines.
Kristoff St. John seemed like he was a good man. So sad that he lost his son and could not go on without the son.

by Anonymous | reply 220 | February 6, 2019 2:08 AM |
Kristoff St. John, Victoria Rowell, Tonya Lee Williams and Shermar Moore have been credited (in part) to Y&R being number 1, because the show had a huge African American audience. In fact Y&R had a huge lead among Black viewers over every single soap on that air at that time.
Other black soaps stars from different shows said the reason Y&R was number 1 with Black viewers, was the storyline with those four were not just black stories. But soap stories, wives cheating of their husbands. Daytime drama, period.
While the other shows had one or two black characters, and they had nothing to do. While the Y&R black actors were in the thick of the action.

It's hard not to write a tribute without 'I' but it's been done.
Contrast that with Yvette Nicole Brown's Instagram tribute to him. She writes about how on her last day playing Neil's date Lois, she and St. John had lunch in the commissary and St. John invited an extra over to join them who had been eating by herself.
It's always the ones with the biggest, kindest hearts who take their lives. Not the selfish ones.

I first saw Kristoff St. John on The Bad News Bears TV series from 1979 to 1980. He played Ahmad Abdul Rahim, which was a character in the 1976 movie. I always noticed in this series that even though he was playing a black kid who was supposed to be full of anger and resentment he still always came across as nice, friendly and likeable. Now I know it turns out that was his true character - he was a sweet, nice person. Check out this clip from an episode of The Bad News Bears where Kristoff sings and plays guitar with Rad Daly singing lead.

LOL . Very very sad to hear this. He was prolific in the daytime TV industry, a familar handsome face for decades. RIP.
Not a nutjob. Definitely, an idiot...
I have read many posts on various websites and Twitter, but DL is the only place where “not aging well” is attributed to a person’s suicide. Of ALL the shit that it could be, a 50-year-old man who doesn't look like he did 30 years ago is most likely NOT the reason he left behind 2 kids and 2 ex-wives.

Shemar wrote a tribute to Kristoff which was not only self promoting but frankly unhinged. I have much more understanding for Victoria Rowell's tribute because without Drucilla, Neil wasn't shit... and people need to admit that. Kristoff really added nothing to the show without her, and when she was there, he functioned as her voice of wisdom during her many melodramas... that's what made them such a strong couple.

Because the stories were about wives cheating on their husbands, etc. It was daytime drama period. Whereas other soaps had one or two black characters with nothing to do. Y&R black characters were in the thick of the action, which is why Y&R had such a HUGE African-American audience, miles ahead of the other shows.

Yeah, it's a shame that the Winters family isn't a big part of Y&R anymore.
They lost Shemar Moore to Criminal Minds. Then they lost Victoria Rowell. She may have been a drama queen, but she was good on the show.
And Tonya Lee Williams hasn't been a regular in years. Another mistake. And now Kristoff is gone.
A shame.

Yvette Nicole Brown is an actress and she didn't make it all about her.
She made it about KRISTOFF.
Here's her Instagram post:
I am still trying to process the news that this dear, dear man is gone. Forgive me if what I say here doesn’t come together just right, but I have to say something about @kristoffstjohn. He deserves as loving a tribute as my early morning sadness can muster. #KristoffStJohn was love. Just pure and simple: love. He was the kind of person you meet who you feel like you’ve known your entire life.
He had a gift for making people feel instantly at ease. He could immediately diffuse any nervousness you had. In my case, I was a ball of nerves because I was playing my first role on a soap opera ever...on #YandR which happened to be one of my FAVORITE soap operas...AND I was meeting HIM, who I had been a fan of most of my life. It could have been a scary, heavy moment. Kristoff made it LIGHT.
In my character, Lois’ subsequent visits to Genoa City, Kristoff was more of the same. Kind, encouraging, playful, fun and present. He saw me. He saw EVERYONE. He made time for everyone. He celebrated everyone. No matter who you were. He saw you. We spent our last lunch break together (the day this picture was taken) eating with a background actor who had been sitting alone in the commissary. Not on Kristoff’s watch. He called her over to join us and the three of us had an amazing time. She got to geek out and ask every question she had and she and I both properly fan-girled over the gift of this lovely man. Kristoff made that moment happen. He saw her. More importantly he felt her. He didn’t want her to be alone in a new place. He did the same for me.
That is who he was a man. He was just GOOD. I am heartbroken to hear that he is gone. So heartbroken. #RIP dear heart.

Meanwhile Kristoff St. John ex-wife (mother of his son who killed himself) was rushed to the hospital yesterday on a suspected overdose as well!
She must of been so distraught over Kristoff death, I guess she thought she should join him and her son.

R263 That is truly beautiful. It’s not about “I I I ME Me Me I I I”. I’m disgusted at the Y&R cast who have made this tragedy all about themselves instead of Kristoff. Selfish pricks.

Keith Hamilton Cobb (ex-Noah AMC) worked with Kristoff on Y&R after he left AMC - he has tweeted some stuff recently (and just hours ago)

Anyone bitching at Eric Braeden for using the word “shocked” is fucking pathetic.
And no, all of the cast’s remembrances were not about themselves. That is a lie. Yes, Shemar talked about himself, but he CLEARLY loved Kristoff. So did the others. Victoria Rowell talked about her agenda. You want to roast her too?
Some of you act as if you never lost someone close to you. Someone should play a recording of your conversations when you were grieving.

R281, Kristoff worked on Y&R for a quarter of a century. So although he may have been working less in recent years, he was a long-term colleague of the older cast members like Eric Braeden who he had known for a couple decades.
And although Kristoff & Shemar probably drifted apart in recent years when Shemar left Y&R for Criminal Minds, I'm sure Shemar's grief about Kristoff is genuine since they were close buddies in Shemar's early days in the business.

Vinessa Antoine who played the original Jordan on GH tweeted that she met Kristoff the week she was auditioning for GH....she happened to be standing behind him in line at a juice bar. She told him she and her grandmother were fans and that she was auditioning for GH. He asked if she had her script with her, she ran out to her car and got the script and he sat in juice bar and helped her with her audition scene. She only saw him after that at industry events and said he was so warm and kind.
by Anonymous | reply 287 | February 7, 2019 7:58 PM |
Kristoff was so good natured, even Braeden couldn't find anything to hold against him. That's a very egotistical and cliquish set. Kristoff and Jess Walton are the only vets there recently who weren't like that.
by Anonymous | reply 288 | February 7, 2019 8:01 PM |
R288, yes, I remember a couple decades ago there was a power struggle between Eric Braeden & Peter Bergman.
They even were rumored to have come to blows in the dressing rooms (I think it was reported in one of the Soap Opera magazines at the time).
They apparently patched up their differences, but yeah.

Well, Braeden & Bergman were the two most popular leading men on Y&R at the time, so I don't think Bill Bell wanted to lose either one of them.
by Anonymous | reply 293 | February 7, 2019 8:43 PM |
Y&R is a set full of egos and horrible people. Peter Bergman privately remarked to someone that every day he worked on Y&R he missed being on AMC more and more because there were zero egos, not even Lucci gave any trouble.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | February 7, 2019 10:59 PM |
Bergman and Braeden fought because they were both living their characters a bit too realistically and Eric was very territorial about what he felt was "his" show.
by Anonymous | reply 295 | February 7, 2019 11:01 PM |
Braeden is one of the most successful & famous characters in Y&R's history, so I can kind of understand why he has an ego. Victor Newman is many people's favorite character. Aretha Franklin said he was her favorite.
As for Bergman, he's a good actor, but he's lucky he's on Y&R. It has made him more famous than he was on AMC, and won him several Emmys.

r312 - Many years ago I was at the bar in Maggianos at the Farmer Market in Los Angeles, right next to the Y&R studio, when several cast members came in to get a table. Among them were Eric Braeden and Peter Bergman. Braeden went right up to the bar and ordered two taquilla shots - and he and Bergman did the shots and cornered themselves off at the bar chatting. They appeared to be good friends. Fun note - Eva Longoria was there that night because at the time she was in the cast.

It is possible for co-workers to become close after having fought. I couldn't stay this guy I worked with, he was obnoxious, thought he was better than everyone else, but still cute. If he came into a room, I left. One day he stopped by for something on his day off, wearing a tight t-shirt and those shorts with a slight slit up the side (yes, this was YEARS ago). I wanted him immediately, and a few weeks later, I had him. The fling didn't last long, but we became best "work friends" and even stayed in touch when he got another job.

I tweeted him once about Neil being a jerk to the women in his life and he responded graciously. I loved when Karen called him out about how insensitive he was to her feelings after he slept with Aunt Tyra. He broke her heart to be with that hussy for a one nighter.
Then Aunt Tyra slept with her nephew.
She was a major Ho and they were Hp's too in that story line.
Poor little Ashley Banks too. She was collateral damage as well.
Anyway, he was a great actor especially when he played an alcoholic grieving the losses of Ryan and Dru respectively.
So sad when one thinks about his real life struggles. God Bless him and his family.

Nia Peeples has stayed quiet about Kristoff's death. She didn't like him and trashed him in an interview after she left the show. Nia was a diva during her Fame days which led to her being killed off and I wouldn't be surprised if she is still a diva.
A few years back, Nia did a Youtube Q&A fan video and she was asked about Y&R. She didn't trashed Kristoff in the video. But, she said at the time she was on the show was going through changes with management and production and she mentioned other cast members being unhappy.
by Anonymous | reply 344 | February 9, 2019 11:42 PM |
These old fraus saying that Kristoff’s final air episode didn't do him justice. Y&R could not write for him after his son died. He was undependable and couldn’t show up for work. Kristoff may or may not be in the looney bin 8 weeks from now on the day we record this episode. How do you write for that? You can’t.

I remember way back in the late-90s to mid-00s, KSJ used to post on the Y&R soap opera message board at the long-gone MediaDomain website. He used the handle "Moonboy" (owing to his astrological sign).
He was generally polite, cordial, and fun in his talks with fans. Occasionally, he'd put up these more or less "stream-of-consciousness" type posts with his goal being to get fans to question things about their opinions of the show. At other times, he'd step-in when some asinine poster would go off the rails spewing lies about someone or something related to the show.
RIP, Moonboy

R344, Peeples more bitched about Eva Marcille not being present in a scene; soaps have hired good looking people who can't act for way too long.
I don't recall Marcille ever giving much in her scenes; I think the writers were changing everyone's story around this time.
The fact is the writing has never been the same since Bill Bell stepped down; I think Jack Smith came closest to making the show compelling again.
Neil had plenty of wives and lovers on the show, Alex, Sofia, Karen Taylor, Tyra, poor dead Rose, Hilary, Leslie, but they were all forgettable; the only one viewers ever cared about was Drucilla; it's too bad Rowell pissed them off. Had she played her cards differently she would have been brought back.
by Anonymous | reply 350 | February 10, 2019 10:03 PM |
Message boards had nothing good to say about Marcille's amateurish acting, and she was generally referred to as "The Orange One."
Peeples main beef with the show was with the writing and how directionless her character was. She requested input from the EP-HW (Maria Arena Bell) and got none; then, there was the whole snafu of how TPTB "incorrectly" fired her based on contract provisions, so they had to bring her back to fulfill their obligations to her, just so they could fire her again the correct way after another six months. It really pointed to how dysfunctional Y&R has become behind-the-scenes.

by Anonymous | reply 353 | February 11, 2019 12:48 AM |
Exactly, R351.
They could have just written her a check, but they bring her back no plan other than to write her out again.
Neil was paired with woman after woman and none of them worked like Rowell did as Dru.
It's so odd; Braeden physically attacked Bergman sending him to the hospital and the feeling was, well, we can't lose Eric; he's the star and they couldn't fire Peter for being attacked.
But the mouthy black woman? Forget it. She's not coming back.
Strikes me as unfair and the show has suffered without Dru.
by Anonymous | reply 354 | February 11, 2019 12:51 AM |
R354 If she'd just been mouthy, that may have been one thing. But once she started with the actual lawsuits, that's another.
Also, just reminding everyone: she wasn't fired. She asked to be written out so she could go on a national book tour. And from the way LML wrote her exit, they obviously left the door WIDE open for a potential return with that old soap opera cliche that her character supposedly died, yet no body was found. It doesn't get any more obvious than that. .. And ftr- she herself once let it out that MAB had actually tried to contact her about a possible return, but she refused to take the call. As I interpreted her "bedtime story," she made it sound like she felt "insulted" because MAB hadn't gone through her agent. .. WTF? Doesn't she know how many deals are made in this town by first starting out with some personal contact, with the agents coming in second?
by Anonymous | reply 355 | February 11, 2019 1:22 AM |
Unlike most of the other soap actors, Rowell has actually had success in other mediums, including Primetime tv.
She was a regular cast member for multiple seasons of Dick Van Dyke's 'Diagnosis Murder'.

by Anonymous | reply 357 | February 11, 2019 4:06 AM |
R357 because her hay day is over. There was a point during the 90’s she was a favorite on “Y&R” , had primetime success with “Diagnosis Murder” and even had a small, but crucial part in the hit Jim Carrey flim “Dumb &Dumber”... she was even in a couple big music videos in the 90’s...anyone remember The Boyz 2 Men video “On Bended Knee”? Or was it “I’ll make love to you”?
Now what does she do? She went crazy awhile ago and is shunned by Hollywood. I don’t even think her and KSJ were friends in recent years. They used to be very close back in the day but he wasn’t even following her on Twitter.

Rowell is nuts. She's made every 'tribute" to KSJ about herself and her rants about diversity on soaps when, if I recall correctly, she was in front burner stories on Y&R back in the day and even was able to have input into some of them (like her dancing, the adoption of Devon).
She's an ungrateful bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 361 | February 11, 2019 5:39 AM |
Rowell's mother is bi polar or was.
She's not well.
I don't think Stafford is either; but she may hide it better? It's why their scenes were magic.

The one thing I do agree with Rowell is how Stafford treated her when they filmed the scene where the Staff spat on her. I totally believe Rowell that Staff didn't inform her beforehand.
Stafford is completely overrated and nuts. Rowell is nuts too but she's a much better actress and much more likable onscreen.
by Anonymous | reply 363 | February 11, 2019 6:07 AM |
Stafford was very good during her first stint on Y&R but since then, her work is hit and miss.
Rowell has some valid points in her augments about how she was treated on the show and terrible way they treated the Barbers/Winters families, but her ranting can go in to the crazy territory and causes quite a bit of people to dismiss her claims.
by Anonymous | reply 364 | February 11, 2019 6:19 AM |
Well, say what you will about Rowell & Stafford, but the show has gone downhill in recent years.
They had a lot of great characters who are no longer there.

[quote][R357] because her hay day is over.
It was On Bended Knee which also featured former soap star Renee Jones from Days of Our Lives, Lark Voorhies from Saved by the Bell and Kim Fields.

Didn't a Y&R cast member bitch about Stafford and Sharon Case trying to recruit cast and crew members into Scienotology several years back?
by Anonymous | reply 367 | February 11, 2019 5:05 PM |
It's sad because Rowell and Stafford had magic chemistry, they were a total partnership and couldn't have become a legendary soap duo.
by Anonymous | reply 368 | February 11, 2019 5:12 PM |
R367, the Y&R cast seems to have a lot of Scientologists and right-wingers for some reason.
Joshua Morrow is an avid Republican (although he supports gay marriage).
Victoria Rowell is a Democrat though -- I remember she campaigned for Hillary a few years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 369 | February 11, 2019 7:07 PM |
R367 Case has never been as deep into the cult like Stafford is. In fact, some claim she's quit or at least stepped back from it. (Don't know what they have to support that claim, though.) .. Meanwhile Stafford is reportedly at one of the higher levels and is often listed among the "famous" cult members.
The much-publicized issue between Stafford and another actor on the show was how she allegedly harassed fellow cast member Michael Fairman (who was playing "Murphy" at the time). It was during the time when Fairman and his wife were trying to get out of the cult. He's actually written about this horrible experience, and while he doesn't name her, you can just hear Stafford hurling the line, "You have an enemy at work!" at him.

Josh comes off as your typical "California Republican." He came of age during the Big 80s of Reagan and seems to long for that era. For him it's about promoting capitalism, individualism, law & order, and the good ol' USA. etc. Meanwhile, he supports same-sex marriage, appears to believe in global-warming, and promotes environmental issues. (Also, I've never seen him promote anything religious. Do he or the wife even go to church?)

by Anonymous | reply 372 | February 11, 2019 7:41 PM |
R371, yes, it's true that Joshua Morrow seems pro-gay based on what I've seen him post on Twitter over the years.
As for church, I don't know if he & his wife attend, but he is pro-circumcision and has mentioned having his boys snipped.
And he's pretty right-wing on law & order issues -- he's said he favors the death penalty, etc.
And when Bush was President he described himself as a big fan of W.

by Anonymous | reply 374 | February 11, 2019 8:08 PM |
R373 Josh was actually one of the first soap celebs I heard support same-sex marriage.
As I recall, it was in a print interview he did around the time when the first state (Massachusetts) was working out their same-sex marriage law (ca. 2003-04). .. The interviewer was asking him something about his own wedding/marriage (2001) -- and just out of the blue with no prompting on the subject -- he said he thought same sex-marriage was something that should be legal. .. He referenced what was going on in Massachusetts and went on to mention something about one of the groomsmen in in own wedding party being gay, saying he thought this friend should have the same right to marry as he and his wife.
by Anonymous | reply 375 | February 11, 2019 8:22 PM |
R375, I've also heard that Josh is a nice guy. Unlike a lot of other good-looking actors who are jerks and self-centered, he seems to be very nice and considerate to his fans and the people who meet him.

In the mid-90s, Y&R would make him shave off his very long, very pronounced treasure trail prior to shirtless scenes, because it was far too provocative.
But it took center stage in his '3 Deep' boy band act.

R404 What are co-workers supposed to say or do at this point? .. If they went on about his death on public social media, that would probably be criticized as well. .. They are still scheduled to work and do their jobs. .. In a similar situation that occurred in my own workplace, everyone reacted to the young man's death during the first couple of days, but then basically retreated to grieve quietly on their own in their own way until a memorial service was held a month later. It didn't mean people had moved on or were narcissistic.

by Anonymous | reply 423 | February 11, 2019 11:35 PM |
Not everyone who works together likes each other or is friendly. Soap fans seem to have a hard time with realizing that the characters they see aren’t also that way offscreen. I’m not saying you jump up-and-down because you weren’t friendly with someone but pretending to be all torn up about something beyond just the regular sadness of it much more vicious than saying nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 424 | February 11, 2019 11:41 PM |
R423, I don't know much about Scott Reeves, but he was definitely very attractive in his younger days. He was shorter than most soap studs, but I seem to remember him having a nice muscular hairy chest, and looking great in his underwear.
The other thing I remember about Scott Reeves is how angry he was when he found out his wife Melissa (Days of Our Lives) was fucking another man on that show (Jason Brooks?)

What I find interesting is that all of these straight fundies don't mind cheating on their spouses.
Melissa Reeves had an affair with a Days co-star.
Austin Peck divorced his wife to be with another woman.
There are rumors that Steve Burton cheats on his wife.
And Bryan Datillo fathered a child out of wedlock.

R423 Makes sense, because Reeves' character, "Ryan McNeil," and KSJ's "Neil Winters" were portrayed as best buds when they were on the show, sharing many scenes. .. The two characters were even roommates for awhile, when both characters were going through divorces. .. When Ryan was in the hospital dying, one of his last scenes was with Neil, as Ryan wanted Neil to look after Victoria. It wasn't long after that when Heather Tom came in and laid her big head on Ryan's chest, crushing it, and he croaked.

R454 It's from a 2005 movie that Wilma Jeanne's son, Corbin Bernsen, did that stars a bunch of daytime soap opera actors, called "Carpool Guy." (I believe it went straight to video.)
Anyway, one of the subplots in the movie has Lauralee Bell's character married to Rick Hearst's character. but she's having an affair with KSJ's character on the side. (That's Lauralee in the pool in the background.) To cover up why the LLB and KSJ characters spend so much time together, he's pretending to be gay. In the scene out by the pool, hubby is confronting his wife about not believing her friend is gay. This leads KSJ;s character to prove it to him by going in for a big kiss and butt grab.

WTF is wrong with her? She talked to him the morning he died. He was drinking heavily & he was talking out of his head. He told her he was seeing their son. Julian was at the door. Why the Fuck didn't see go over there or call for a welfare check? He was obviously spiraling out & she didn't do jack. He had also sent her a very troubling text that sounding like a goodbye note.

by Anonymous | reply 491 | February 21, 2019 6:57 PM |
R491, I don't think the toxicology reports have been released.
The guy was a sweetheart, super nice. And in a lot of pain since his son died.
by Anonymous | reply 492 | February 22, 2019 4:54 AM |
It could take several months before the toxicology reports are back. LA coroners is notoriously slow at getting results back.
by Anonymous | reply 493 | February 22, 2019 5:00 AM |
R493 why can the ER do a drug test and have instant results? What is so special about the coroner’s report?
by Anonymous | reply 494 | February 22, 2019 5:03 AM |
R494 They run a very through panel to catch any potential cause of death and to try to determine if it was accidental or not. In some cases, that is very important in the matter of life insurance claims.
by Anonymous | reply 495 | February 22, 2019 5:12 AM |
I also wonder if it's because the LA Coroner is dealing with so many high-profile and famous people and therefore need to be extra careful.
by Anonymous | reply 496 | February 22, 2019 5:16 AM |
R496 I'd tend to think they're even more careful with celeb cases to avoid any mistakes that could cause bad publicity for them or a potential lawsuit.

[quote] The crazy ex-wife will be on Dr. Oz on Wednesday.
Do you want to know a rather bizarre, Y&R-related coincidence about the ex-wife?
Part 1:
I see by her Instagram that she's in some kind of relationship with one Dr. Laurence Rifkin - "celebrity dentist" in Beverly Hills. There are many photos of them out on dates together on his IG as well. This one was taken a few months ago.
by Anonymous | reply 498 | February 22, 2019 6:44 AM |
Part 2:
So I kept thinking ... "Rifkin .. dentist .. Beverly Hills" .. and I remembered another one name Dr. Robert Rifkin.
Turns out they share an office and are brothers. That's Robert on the right. Photo from last May.
by Anonymous | reply 499 | February 22, 2019 6:48 AM |
Part 3:
And Robert was Brenda Dickson's first husband, the dentist.
by Anonymous | reply 500 | February 22, 2019 6:49 AM |
They’re all nuts. Brendad, the ex wife and Kristoff.

R500
That IS weird.
by Anonymous | reply 502 | February 22, 2019 9:09 AM |
Shame on Dr. Oz! Bringing this nutjob on so soon after her own release from koo koo land. Kristoff and his family, wives, kids were and are all cray cray.

It was apparently open to the public, but no one did much to get the word out.

Goddard, D-Teflon, Bryton, and Shark Fralick (Larry Warton)

The bitch Rowell is coming back as herself for a tribute episode at the end of April. They’re copying what JFP did for Jeanne Cooper’s tribute episode where they break the 4th wall and talk as themselves, not their characters. Don’t get excited though. Rest assured this is a one time thing. Will Mel Scott wear her Rowell wig for the episode?

Actor Kristoff St. John, best known for his longtime role on “The Young and the Restless,” died from heart disease, with an accidental alcohol overdose as a contributing factor, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported Tuesday.

LOL at the asshole Serial Scholar being ripped a new one by a former writer at Y&R when Rowell was there. Dumb ass Scholar THINKS he knows everything (he only knows Rowell’s side of the story) and said writer set the asshole straight that there are 2 sides to the Rowell story. If Rowell was indeed the victim, why did all of her lawsuits get thrown out of court? I’m glad the former Y&R writer set the dumb scholar straight.

You gotta admit -- Bill Bell came up with a great title for the show all those years ago. The Young & the Restless went on to become the #1 soap and has maintained that slot for the past few decades. Putting 'restless' in the title was a masterstroke.
by Anonymous | reply 530 | March 19, 2019 11:58 PM |
the original title was Young and Restless Years ….
I think that even got out in some publicity material or promos.

Y&R writer Natalie Minardi was my Biology lab-mate in high school. We dissected a feral cat together. The day we got him (frozen, with tail curled up between back legs), we started calling him Spike. I don't remember why....(this was long before BTVS). When thawed, and we moved the tail, we discovered that "Spike" was actually a female. But we decided to call her Spike, anyway. She was all black, long haired. Later, we discovered that Spike was pregnant when euthanized, which then made her something of a class "celebrity" because our teacher wanted everyone to come over & look at the kittens in utero.
Anyway....while these discoveries were all terribly interesting (and totally fucking disgusting)...the thing that Natalie & I talked about the most, while dissecting Spike..... was DAYS OF OUR LIVES. LOL! Our conversations usually started, "Did you see DAYS yesterday?!" This would have been 1983-1984, so....it was all about Marlena/Roman, Bo/Hope, early Kim/Shane/Prism storyline.
I hadn't seen nor heard from Natalie since I graduated.....had no idea what had become of her. And then one day in 2014, I had CBS on after watching some local mid-day news. Y&R began...I glanced up....and there was Natalie's name on a title card, writing for Y&R. I laughed out loud, and thought back to our h.s. days.....or course she became a soap writer! So perfect.

What did he do with all of his money? I think he took the easy way out given all the nuttiness in his family. This is better than a soap opera. One flew out of the koo koos nest.
by Anonymous | reply 566 | April 22, 2019 8:17 AM |

R566 If he really was bipolar (like the ex- says), then wild and reckless spending during manic periods is often a big problem. They even refer to it as "bipolar debt."
I notice on his IG that he bought the Russian model-fiancee a HUGE engagement ring last summer. And it looks like he took her on a first class trip to Moscow over Christmas-New Years. That could be where the AMEX charges come from.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | April 22, 2019 8:17 PM |
Shame on CBS for trying to capitalize on Kristoff’s death. Trying to gain ratings when they did nothing to help him while he was alive. Shameful.

Still?
by Anonymous | reply 571 | April 22, 2019 10:13 PM |
R570 Yeah, the timing of the memorial and tribute is an obvious (May sweeps) ratings grab. But as far as not doing anything for ... they gave him all kinds of time off to get his shit together with professionals. Where do you think he was during January? (UCLA Medical Center) .. There's only so much an employer can do when a worker has psych and substance abuse issues (and technically he was contracted with Sony, not CBS).
by Anonymous | reply 572 | April 22, 2019 10:28 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 573 | April 22, 2019 11:00 PM |
R567 & R568, Shemar has denied being gay in the past, but we've been talking about him for years. He was photographed naked at a gay beach a decade ago and claimed he was there with a couple female friends.
He now claims he is dating an actress, but it's certainly interesting that a guy as good looking as him has never been married or fathered a child even though he's almost 50.

Doubtful, R586. .. He'd only have three eligible episodes of very minimal material for a reel next year, where he was primarily a talk-to for Dull Devon: 1) reporting on how Lily is doing in prison, 2) conferring on the status of Ana's non-existent "mystery songwriter" being signed to a contract, and 3) attending FenMo's autotune concert at the GCAC.
