This film’s Creative Direction is incredible. There’s been nothing like it since.

Yes, OP, yesssss!

by Anonymousreply 2January 26, 2019 11:53 PM

One of my favorite movies.

by Anonymousreply 3January 26, 2019 11:57 PM

Beautiful dark movie.

the matrix ripped dark city off?

Keifer Sutherland was fantastic. William Hurt was fuckably resplendent as always. Jennifer Connelly was also revelatory. I’m convinced the ending shot of the film with Connelly and the wonderful Rufus Sewell on the peer directly inspired Aronofsky’svision for “Requiem for a Dream” but also the casting of Connelly in the film. He basically steals the shot aspect by aspect.

Dark City is one of those private cinematic discoveries you happen to suddenly and with total aplomb and abandon.

Rufus is playing a Nazi on Amazon's The Man in the High Castle.

I'm willing to believe it could be underrated, although I was never into it myself.

by Anonymousreply 9January 27, 2019 2:05 AM

Connelly looks beautiful in this film

OFFS, shut up.

Oh, and R8, so stealth. I'm surprised you revealed the agenda so early in a thread.

Don’t you like the film, R15?

by Anonymousreply 16May 5, 2021 3:39 AM

Great movie except for the straggot romance shit with the useless chick. Otherwise good.

by Anonymousreply 17May 5, 2021 7:20 AM

I've never seen it, but the poster image looks like a mashup of "The Lawnmower Man" & "Amityville 1992: It's About Time".

by Anonymousreply 18May 5, 2021 7:29 AM

R18 You must check it out.

by Anonymousreply 19May 5, 2021 11:21 AM

I don't remember much about the plot or the performances. What stayed with me was the look of the film, which was astonishingly original. I loved it just for that.

I need to watch it again.

Wonderful set pieces filled with ominous dread. Especially when time stops and the trench coat clad alien imps come out to play

by Anonymousreply 21May 5, 2021 5:58 PM

I'll look into it, R19.

by Anonymousreply 22May 5, 2021 9:41 PM

R22 Let is know what you think.

by Anonymousreply 23May 6, 2021 3:11 AM

The main guy's bad hair ruined the film, seriously.
