Hunnam is who got Malek his role in Papillon. After Hunnam signed on he and the director were discussing who should be his co-star, and Hunnam wanted Malek and suggested. The more he spoke about Malek the more right it felt, and he hadn’t even met Malek yet. He was such a fan of Malek from his work (Hunnam is a big Mr Robot fan) he pushed for him and said its Malek or he won’t do it. The director already was fine with Malek but that’s how passionate Hunnam was about Malek and he spoke to him on the phone and he knew he was the right person.

Trying to watch this but it’s aterrible script. It’s one of those films where they’re like, “If we fill the cast with famous actors then we don’t have to bother developing characters.”
