Norbert Leo Butz, Laura Osnes, and More Cast in FX’s Fosse/Verdon | Playbill

The series from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, and Steven Levenson will star Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams as the choreographer and his muse.

by Anonymousreply 712/21/2018

LMM is like a bad rash.

by Anonymousreply 812/21/2018

Chayefsky was Fosse's best friend. They met in 1959 and bonded over baseball. Fosse tap danced at Chayevsky's funeral in 1981.

by Anonymousreply 912/21/2018

Interesting, r9.

by Anonymousreply 1012/21/2018

[quote] Joining them as series regulars are Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz a Paddy Chayefsky and Margaret Qualley as Ann Reinking. Aren't there more than one threads on this series already ongoing?

Regardless, I like you r11. I assume you're following the Ann Miller thread?

Will Fosse/Verdon be PoC rappers ?

by Anonymousreply 1312/22/2018

Will they cover Fosse’s sexual abuses and harassment?

Fosse's Darker Legacy: Bob Fosse, Ben Vereen, and #MeToo

In 1999, Time magazine said Fosse "crammed his dances full of sexual imagery so harsh and loveless that you can’t help wondering what made him so successful a womanizer." In 2018, it's time to stop pretending and recognize Fosse's history of sexual harrasment and abuse. #metoo trigger warn

He literally danced on his grave?

Judge for yourself, r6!

Sam Rockwell: Dancing Machine

Footage from: Charlie's Angels Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (movie and screen test) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Moon Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Law...

by Anonymousreply 1603/02/2019

Sam's thinning combover makes it unwatchable.

by Anonymousreply 1703/02/2019

Gwen had a granny voice, even as a young'un. Never cared for her speaking/singing voice. Her dancing, on the other hand...

by Anonymousreply 1803/02/2019

Another yawn-inducing str8 washing of a non-hetero man. Yawn again. He was a manly he-man hetero lady killer I tell you!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 1903/02/2019

R19 lol dude no one has seen the whole thing yet.

by Anonymousreply 2003/02/2019

I don't think Fosse was gay. He was always fucking around with women.

by Anonymousreply 2103/02/2019

I didn't say he was gay, r21. I said he was not straight.

by Anonymousreply 2203/02/2019

How do you know?

by Anonymousreply 2303/02/2019

R22 are you one of those insufferable 'bi erasure' people that has infested the Internet lately?

by Anonymousreply 2403/02/2019

It's like you really get me, r24.

by Anonymousreply 2503/02/2019

Oh, jeezus.

by Anonymousreply 2603/02/2019

All I care about is, who gets to play Irene Ryan?

by Anonymousreply 2703/14/2019

[quote] Sam's thinning combover makes it unwatchable.

Bob Fosse HAD a thinning comb-over IRL, hon.

by Anonymousreply 2803/14/2019

Bob's thinning combover was blondish-red in hue and blended with his skin color, so it wasn't as distracting as Sam's dark brown combover.

by Anonymousreply 2903/14/2019

I have a friend who is going to be in this as Joan McCracken.

by Anonymousreply 3003/14/2019

Maybe he was overcompensating, R21.

by Anonymousreply 3103/14/2019

No matter how you slice it, Bob Fosse was NOT a physically attractive man in the 1970s. He was losing his hair, coming it over unattractively, and he dressed terribly. All the constant chain smoking and the alcohol and drugs were doing a terrible number on his skin. And despite his lifetime of dancing, his body did not look very attractive at this point in time either. Plus he dressed for shit.

More of Fosse in the 1970s.

More of Fosse in the 1970s. Keep in mind he was not even fifty when this photo was taken.

by Anonymousreply 3403/14/2019

It's funny because Fosse was hot when he worked for MGM. But it's as if his skankiness burned all the attractiveness out of him as he aged. That's a rough 40s.

by Anonymousreply 3503/14/2019

There's no one listed on IMDb playing Roy Scheider though I assume they are going to cover All That Jazz.

by Anonymousreply 3603/14/2019

Only in the world of DL can a notorious womanizer be considered secretly gay or bisexual.

by Anonymousreply 3703/14/2019

Homely but talented to the point of revolutionary. Which would you choose?

by Anonymousreply 3803/14/2019

fuck no.

by Anonymousreply 3903/14/2019

2 packs a day, heart attacks galore...creepy

Fosse/Verdon on FX Networks

Fosse/Verdon is an FX limited series that tells the story of the partnership between Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. Together they changed the face of American entertainment – at a perilous cost.

This rather long out-take says Fosse was awful

by Anonymousreply 4604/09/2019

Fosse was not handsome but he was sexy

by Anonymousreply 4704/09/2019

Hope it’s good.

by Anonymousreply 4804/09/2019

Tonight, in 13 minutes!

by Anonymousreply 4904/09/2019

How is it so far?

by Anonymousreply 5004/09/2019

I cant hardly wait

by Anonymousreply 5104/09/2019

So far I’m bored and annoyed. It’s pretentious.

by Anonymousreply 5204/09/2019

Rockwell just doesn't have the sex appeal like Scheider had.

by Anonymousreply 5304/09/2019

And Scheider was much sexier than Fosse.

by Anonymousreply 5404/09/2019

Is this the OFFICIAL thread?

Lin Manuel Miranda is broadcasting on Periscope during the commercial break

by Anonymousreply 5504/09/2019

Not casting Sam Rockwell's wife(?) Leslie Bibb as young Jessica Lange is a missed opportunity.

by Anonymousreply 5604/09/2019

Father Fosse -- Norwegian Catholic.

by Anonymousreply 5704/09/2019

Jesus, does Miranda never sit down and shut up?

by Anonymousreply 5804/09/2019

I've been watching Fosse and Verdon's dance routine "Who's Got The Pain?" from "Damn Yankees." God, they were amazing.

by Anonymousreply 5904/09/2019

That was Paul Reiser? Yeesh.

by Anonymousreply 6004/09/2019

It's hard to take any of you guys seriously when you say, "Fosse was gay or bi." He was a notorious pussy hound.

by Anonymousreply 6104/09/2019

How do you make Bob Fosse boring?

This is not very good.

by Anonymousreply 6204/09/2019

Too bad All that Jazz isn’t streaming somewhere.

Sam Rockwell gives me the creeps.

by Anonymousreply 6304/09/2019

r61, it was one poster claiming that, not the whole site, so quit it with the "you guys" crap

by Anonymousreply 6404/09/2019

Follow R59's lead. You won't go wrong.

by Anonymousreply 6504/09/2019

I usually find Michelle Williams really stiff, emotionless and dead in the eyes, but I'm liking her as Gwen. She has a nice spark.

by Anonymousreply 6604/09/2019

Yeah, r63. For me, All That Jazz said it all about Fosse. And Scheider was brilliant and you were completely drawn to his version of Fosse.

I just want to run from Rockwell. No sexual appeal, no playfulness.

by Anonymousreply 6704/09/2019

Is Jack Cole mentioned?

by Anonymousreply 6804/09/2019

Gwen Verdon on The Rosie O'Donnell Show

Rosie interviews Gwen Verdon around the time of the opening of "Fosse" on Broadway.

by Anonymousreply 6904/09/2019

Pail Reiser is such a sexy and cranky old man in this, I LOVE IT!!!

by Anonymousreply 7004/09/2019

This show should be DL catnip! Where is everybody?

by Anonymousreply 7104/09/2019

On this thread:

"Fosse/Verdon" Series Premiere, 4/9/19: "Life is a Cabaret"

Who's watching?

by Anonymousreply 7204/09/2019

Sam's hair is all shaved and styled for the movie, people. Jeez Louise.

After watching Episode 1, and even being a major SR fan, I'm thinking his Fosse is simply a toned-down version of his Chuck Barris, complete with "Sam Rockwell dance turns" and continual cheating on his Main Squeeze.

by Anonymousreply 7304/10/2019

Maybe he will get better in the next episode. He seems really lost.
