Anyone else loving this? Really makes you want to curl up by the fire.

Shit...I love her!

But she looks like Carrot Top in drag on that cover. WTF has she done to her face?!

by Anonymousreply 1December 12, 2018 2:09 AM

She has always been a great singer.... BUT the accompaniment, not feeling that- at all.

by Anonymousreply 2December 12, 2018 2:10 AM

Bitch got a whole new face! Good for her.

by Anonymousreply 3December 12, 2018 2:11 AM

I've seen her live in the past year, and her voice is in fine shape, better than many of her 80s peers. I do think she could release better promo photos, as she is more appealing in person.

Just in time for my pancreatic cancer. Taylor Dayne will get me through the holidays, then, the overdose.

by Anonymousreply 5December 12, 2018 2:22 AM

That poor Dear....

by Anonymousreply 6December 12, 2018 2:30 AM

I get her and Laura Brannigan confused.

by Anonymousreply 7December 12, 2018 2:32 AM

Laura Brannigan is dead...DEAD...DDEEEEAAAADDDD...DEAD.

by Anonymousreply 8December 12, 2018 2:40 AM

She's very Long Island chic.

by Anonymousreply 9December 12, 2018 3:16 AM

I always liked her, but this songs like someone doing a parody of Taylor Danye

by Anonymousreply 10December 12, 2018 3:18 AM

Who invited her?

by Anonymousreply 11December 12, 2018 3:44 AM

Did you know that originally she was one of the Jackson brothers? They were not able to find success on their own, and transitioned into Taylor Dayne. It's true.

by Anonymousreply 12December 12, 2018 3:46 AM

I just have to tell you, I love her voice.

by Anonymousreply 13December 12, 2018 4:09 AM

Wasn't she a porn actress at one point?

by Anonymousreply 14December 12, 2018 5:19 AM

She's the Queen

by Anonymousreply 15December 12, 2018 5:57 AM

LOVE her and her voice.

This particular song - eh - kinda pitchy - not a good fit for her voice.

by Anonymousreply 16December 12, 2018 6:01 AM

One of my fav movie themes EVER! And the over-the-top video is sublime...

"but this songs like someone doing a parody." I meant "sounds."

by Anonymousreply 18December 12, 2018 9:36 PM

Does she identify as Caucasian? Just curious.

by Anonymousreply 19December 12, 2018 9:37 PM

She does. But, she'd probably just say "white."

by Anonymousreply 20December 12, 2018 9:38 PM

When "Tell It To My Heart" first started getting airplay, I thought she was both black and the most obnoxious singer I'd heard in my life. I like the song enough now, though. But she took getting used to.

by Anonymousreply 21December 12, 2018 9:39 PM

Horrible

by Anonymousreply 22December 12, 2018 9:43 PM

The song isn't very good. I do like her voice though.

by Anonymousreply 23December 12, 2018 11:19 PM

Well, it’s no Hannukah Song.

by Anonymousreply 24December 13, 2018 12:12 AM

Too bad she gave up the Broadway route. She was actually quite good in AIDA (she replaced Idina Menzel, I believe, or vice versa). I would have loved to see her do FUNNY GIRL as was planned back in the early 90s... too bad no bootlegs exist of that reading/workshop. I bet she was very unique and absolutely nailed the songs. Would love to hear her do a Broadway/standards album, even now.

by Anonymousreply 25December 13, 2018 12:17 AM

R21, that sums up my experience with her as well. I couldn't believe she was serious, but now I enjoy her voice.

by Anonymousreply 26December 13, 2018 3:30 AM

Love will lead you back.

by Anonymousreply 27December 13, 2018 7:36 AM

r24

I'd love to hear her do the dreidel song.

by Anonymousreply 28December 13, 2018 2:35 PM

She did a really good job on "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love," and the Madonna reject "I'll Wait."

by Anonymousreply 29December 13, 2018 2:36 PM

Love her.

by Anonymousreply 30December 13, 2018 3:35 PM

Honest to god the first time I ever saw Taylor Dayne, which was the Tell It To My Heart video, I thought she was a tranny. I remember thinking "that tranny needs a new wig."

by Anonymousreply 31December 13, 2018 3:37 PM

She does look and sound like a man. And she has a bad weave.

by Anonymousreply 32December 13, 2018 4:08 PM

She never sounded black to me. I mean, a lot of her songs aped Black R&B and pop, and I loved most of it. But, her voice didn't scream "black."

by Anonymousreply 33December 13, 2018 9:30 PM

This song is not a good fit for her because it demands a decorous delivery and that really isn't her. She sounds tamped down. That being said, I'll take what I can get. I have loved her from day one and wish she would release music with more regularity.

Hearty thanks to Jim Steinman, R17, who posted a link to the bombastic brilliance that is "Original Sin." Incredible song and incredible performance by Taylor, who looks smoking hot and sings the hell out of the song.

by Anonymousreply 34December 13, 2018 9:37 PM

Saw her at a summerfest last year, she put on a great show, still has that powerful, unique voice.
