The plot of the play is rather simple, but Pinter used reverse chronology and we can observe the characters relationship retrospective. We see this love triangle, and we can't forget about this, because all three actors are always on a stage. When stage-spotlights illuminate two lovers, third sits in the background shade. I think it is director's idea to show to us that lovers always think about each over. I couldn't help feeling sad while watching it. But there are funny moments and a black humor, in fact I was feeling a real tragedy in the scene where Emma's (Zawe) child was sitting on Robert's (Tom) lap, because it is often the way that adults get lost in their personal drama, they don't think about children's feelings.It was a focal point for understanding the essence of betrayal. Very interesting approach of Jamie Lloyd’s production. Totally another view. No scandal, no screaming, no hysterical emotion, just something like «I don't give a shit, let's go play squash». Tom is very talented. His voice, hands, facial expressions, gentleman's silent cry... everything is perfect.

From what I saw (Guardian, Independent, Variety, LSE) Hiddleston got excelllent reviews - the Guardian used the word "brilliant". The one really bad one I saw was The Spectator, which was brutal. Overall, the production itself seems most to divide reactions. It was a good move for Hiddleston - laying low after the Swift debacle, coming back via a high end production in the West End, and getting almost all good reviews.
