It's easy to see why this seminal song has endured all these years. It's so overwrought but so good. Has anything been able to top it?
Is The Glory of Love the Greatest Power Ballad of All Time?

Whatever happened to Peter Cetera? He had two or three hits and then fell into oblivion.

I know I'm responding to stupid trolling, but I'm from Europe and this legit the first time I've ever heard this song. And I did watch this movie, everyone my age has. Was the song actually popular in the US?

Are we digging up EVERY shitty, awful song to discuss?

EVERYTHING tops it because it's at the very bottom of the pile.

The only songs I could tolerate from him are his duets with Agnetha Faltskog and the one with Amy Grant.

Glory of Love is a tough act to follow.

I preferred Peter's brother Et.

He ruined Chicago and then raped our ears in the 80s.

He has a unique voice. Can't think of anyone else who sounds like him.

R12 you say that like it’s a good thing.

I love The Glory of Love and Peter Cetera but it's not my favorite power ballad.

You bourgeoisie bitches have no taste.

But it was a #1 hit smash and everything!
I thought power ballads were by rock bands that had some guitar solos.

Chicago had two good albums, then tortured us with shit like this (which I haven't heard much, btw).

I am a man who would fight for your honor

I find a lot of soundtrack songs from the 80s comforting in this day and age. Love songs are not always meant to have a deep meaning. Some of the greatest songs of the past evoke puppy love, but the performer can imbue a shallow song like that with their emotion and the weight of their conviction. In that sense, this song succeeds. A lot of people sneer at Chicago's 80s output but it's still being sampled and covered today in movies and recordings. It's certainly better than most of the shit that supposedly passes for music these days.
