Various Levels Of Producer
I'm a movie and tv credits reader. I've noticed that more and more actors are starting to be credited with titles like Associate Producer or Executive Producer.
Do they do any extra work when they get a title like this or is it more about sharing the future profits of the project? Do they get more control over storyline or character?

Maggie Gyllenhall said she wanted input on the decisions at HBO's The Deuce. That makes sense.

They get more residuals and the power to veto creative decisions.
No, it doesn't require more work than just reviewing what the director, writer and real producer want to do.
It's an ego and credit boost, but also a matter of controversy in recent years as some movies have a dozen producers and nobody knows who's truly doing the hard work.

With actors it is usually to assauge their ego, acknowledge how much they mean to the show. It is fairly common now that starring actors on series that have been successful can get a producer credit in their contract renewals.

An executive producer is a rich person who helps underwrite the project.
