Anna Paquin is really over the top. I'm not surprised her roles in the U.S. dried up after True Blood. She's mostly worked on Canadian and UK productions since then. Though she does have a role in the next Scorsese film, so maybe that will be a comeback.

Alan A l d a, Jim Carrey, the cast of Modern Family, the cast of This Is Us, Desi Arnaz from the past, So many. Most actors match up well to their characters so there isn't much acting. I will say Justin did a good job on Revenge. But that show was better written than This Is Us.

I'm surprised that Vincent D'Onofrio hasn't been mentioned yet. My mother commented, after watching him on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", "That's acting with a capital A."

Growing up in the early 80s my sisters would watch General Hospital religiously. I always remember my mother leaving the room when Tony Geary (Luke) scenes came on because he was so hammy. But truthfully, that's probably standard for soap operas.

Robin Williams was the precursor to Jim Carrey in terms of not being able to turn it down a notch, though Williams could manage it occasionally.

Funny reading the other thread about 'Great Actors' because most Brits think that Anthony Hopkins has spent most of his Hollywood career monstrously overacting.

And almost the whole cast of Downton Abbey.

Jim Carrey overacts for comic effect though, far different than Shatner who expected to be taken seriously.

William Shatner, who never met a piece of scenery he didn’t devour. Although James “I’m coming apart! I’m losing my mind!” Brolin in “Amityville Horror” is pretty great.

De Niro may have been great once, but he's uncontrollably hammy now.

Interestingly, Brolin now has a lovely comic touch in that execrable TV show that manages to make even Dianne Wiest look silly.
