Reminds me of leaving a job many years ago to move to a new city, several co-employess saying, "we're going to miss you" and my boss saying "yeah, you are such a smartass". I guess he was being sarcastic too.

As long as it does not go to far and become malicious I can see why it would be beneficial to health as it will be like an emotional release as opposed to keeping everything pent up .

At a group training event a few years ago a woman I work with spilled her guts about how sarcastic some of her co-workers were and ran out of the room in tears. I have always been sarcastic as hell, but that made me try to rein it in a bit and "know my audience".
And to be honest, not sarcastic, I don't want or need to live 3 extra years.
