Glenn's film is a tour de force. Gaga is a half baked stunt singer who belongs on a reality show for 'shock value'. Those in the know feel this is Glenn's last chance. She has had to endure being in Streep's orbit and always, always coming second. Give it to Glenn - tell Gaga to stay in music.

Last week I ended up seeing Venom watching Tom Hardy mumble his way through the movie and this week I watched Jamie Hermaphrodite in the new Halloween. I have no interest in seeing a KaKa movie that never reached #1

How much do we think Bradley Cooper makes on this? Do directors get a % of profit or gross? Or do the producers who put up the money get all the profit? Seems like it could be a Ben Stiller level payoff that makes him set for life. Maybe now he will come out of the closet.

I saw it and thought it was okay. I have to admit, Lady Gaga was good, she was radiant. It was Bradley Cooper that I couldn't stand. I could barely understand what he was saying, he mumbled throughout the movie and played his role with his head bent down most of the time which became annoying.

Shallow sucks being top of itunes means crap lots of crap goes number one these days.

R37 streaming means a lot more. It was doing well on spotify but is dropping again, and the song fell to number 10 on the billboard charts. All this hype and only one song will briefly make the top ten.

I saw it. Boring. Waaaaay too long. Was there an editor? I thought Gaga was good. The number of closeups of BC was laughable, and considering he directed, even more hilarious. Very predictable. My friend and I kept whispering what was gonna happen next... and it did. If this is considered great filmmaking, I fear for us.

Gaga was good in this. I loved the movie, but it could have been a half hour shorter. I could see them earning an Oscar.

To be fair, this movie would have done well had Cooper cast, say, Amanda Seyfried or Rihanna. She was a cog in the machine.

r52, I don't think Rihanna could have Americanized herself for this type of role, and Amanda Seyfried doesn't have the charm or starpower necessary either.

While it's true Glenn has to endure being in Streep's orbit she is not second. Glenn's acting chops are superior to Meryl's but Meryl clearly had the better connections and got the better parts. Streep also is more conventionally "good looking". I put the good looking part in quotes because I have never thought Streep was very attractive. But her looks make her likable and accessible. Much like Tom Criuse, Meryl is most believable when she is playing an asshole or doing a comedic performance.

The movie had a few moments. Mostly in the live performances. The acting/drama was strictly average.

I agree with those who say it could have been trimmed by at least ten minutes and I write this as someone who enjoyed ASIB.

We haven't had this kind of movie for awhile. Two white folks fallin' in love. Singin'. Spotlights. Anthems. Heart strings.

It's been Marvel and whatever the hell all that teenage franchise shit has been for so long.

It's a movie that idiots in every state will watch.

I saw it tonight and the theater was pretty full, surprisingly. Bradley's performance and the Gaga's singing stole the show.

The movie was great but didn’t need the suicide. It earned a happier ending. And would have made sense given the current climate of every other person in LA being in AA/recovery.

Cooper was mentored by Clint Eastwood. SIB has the look and pacing of one of his better movies. Malpaso Productions was behind SIB and is Clint's company.

The scene where he apologizes for ruining her moment really got to me. Also, the one where the manager comes to the house and talks to him. My sister's husband is a recovering alcoholic and she was very weepy throughout the movie. She said they made the pain of knowing and loving an addict very authentic.

Best film of the year.... Gaga is amazing, but let's give praise to Bradley. A brilliant performance and incredible direction. Blew away my expectations
