I once read a quote from a Hollywood insider that said if you see a couple dialing the red carpet PDA up to 11, the lawyers are probably licking the envelopes on their divorce papers.

My neighbor and his girlfriend almost skip together holding hands. It’s very bizarre. I also see lots of straight couples holding hands in grocery stores. What’s that about? Straight privilege.

They think it makes their bearding more believable.

Any public display of affection that takes place in front of two or more photographers is guaranteed to be fake.

Nobody feels focused on their feelings for their partner when someone else is sticking a camera into your face!

Don’t get me started on the ones who grab boobs, asses and crotches in front of the cameras. Have some damn class.

PDAs of average people can be gross enough to observe. It quickly turns pathetic when one (or both) of them hold up their phones showing new selfies being uploaded to their Instagram and Snapchat feeds.

Adults can choose to be with whomever they want. That said, making-out, fondling, displaying too much other physical behaviors such as grinding and tonguing action, in public, are rude and frankly, nasty. Often is done for show.

My sister and her Egyptian bf came over recently and were holding hands and playing footsie at dinner. Later they were canoodling and thigh-groping on the couch. They’re in College and this is a new first relationship for the so I guess it’s understandable, but so fucking awkward and uncomfortable for me.

It's not just a couples thing. The only time my narcissist mother would show me affection was in public, lavish phony affection to make herself look good. At home, try to hug her and she just stood there.

My husband is very PDA - as well as very affectionate at home. The PDA is tough for me because I have social anxiety. But I also appreciate it’s his expression of love. He just doesn’t get anxious in public like me. We’ve had debates over it. But ultimately I feel lucky I have such an affectionate partner (surprisingly he is Latin and I am North European).

I live in Paris and it is omnipresent, the stereotype is real. For example, I have seen a young couple walk down the sidewalk while making out. The man had one eye open to steer, the woman was in some kind of spit swapping trust fall.

I bring this up because I recently had American friends visit Paris on their honeymoon and said they felt put to shame by the PDA all around them!

It can be the other way around R52. Andre Agassi and Brooke Shields were once interviewed by Joan Rivers on the red carpet and never one to mince words, Joan said to her "he's hanging on to you for dear life!".
