Many of the American TV movies of that era - they repeat them a lot here in England - and I've noticed the ties and the jackets.

I was in high school about to leave for college - we really were drowning in fabric...the return of high waisted jeans for women doesn’t portend well for fashion in the next few.

R22 I'm about the same age as you, and you're right. We didn't know it at the time, but when I watch these old shows the sheer VOLUME of the clothes are really striking. And not only are women's high-waisted jeans making a comeback, but a few weeks ago we had a thread about pleated men's pants!

At least they replaced the acid wash jeans of the 80s.

Actually, the high waist was around in the 80s, it seems

early 90s I switched from Converse All Stars - that I'd been wearing since about 1977, to Doc Martens. Time to grow up.

Like this, but nicer, they no longer make the ones I wore.... that were slight more classic in shape and more pointed.

For women it was all about vests.

For men - the Levi jacket with the corduroy collar.

R 26, I still have my wingtip Docs from '94. Aside from needing moleskin on the heel lining, they're in great shape. It's such a shame they don't make then in England any more.

I never put it together before, but this must be why the costuming on ST:TNG was almost always form fitting. It was different from the fashions of the day.
