Your experiences meeting/interacting with gay celebs? (Gay celebs only) Best and worst?
Past and present gay celebs. Who were the nicest? meanest? most flirty?
I'll start. Before finding a husband, Lance Bass became a WeHo scene queen and would flirt with any gay he found attractive, including me. He wasn't my type and I'm not into fucking someone just because he's famous. He seemed nice but a bit creepy.
Reza Farahan-once saw him at a party. He was looking around expecting an hoping everyone would stop and notice him. No one gave a fuck so he got pissed and left after 10 minutes. This was like during the airing of season 2 or 3 of Shahs of Sunset so he had already become known a bit.

Playwright and performer Charles Busch, taking in a movie with 2 friends in NYC. I had seen him read a celebrity biography in character at Joe’s Pup and complimented his performance on our way up the escalator. He smiled and said “those shows are fun, aren’t they?”. A very nice man, so pleasant.

I worked with the original full "Queer Eye" cast during a week long shoot and, of course, Carson - at that time - thought he was the Cinderella of television and everyone was rolling their eyes, but in fact the worst was Thom Filicia. To this day, I can't figure out what his issues were/are but he was a nightmare. Extremely difficult, fussy and downright mean. The other ones were lovely, especially Jai.

Fuck off, OP. Take your hate thread somewhere else, Boris. Flirt with any 'gay?' That's clue #1 you're trolling. Clue #2:

At least try to be believable.

Actually I tend to believe R1. Lance Bass once flirted with me at a Broadway opening night. He was very obvious about it too. I don't remember the name of the show.

R6, I'm sure Lance Bass has flirted many times. R1's didn't happen though.

Norman Korpi of NYC's Real World down-to-earth, friendly; met at the corner of Broadway/Spring where that season was filmed.
Reza Ferahan - before he was on a series, thick, meaty, proportional circumcised dick, good feet.
Quentin Crisp - would always stop and have a conversation as long as you wanted; phone number listed in NYC phone book until he died, would answer and chat on the phone.
Rupaul - met in NYC in the 90s, approachable and funny; ran into in LA a couple years ago and didn't engage much, spent his time on his laptop (with Diana Ross screensaver)

Anderson Cooper - super reserved - gives off a brusque but not mean vibe
Andy Cohen - I think he would talk to a wall
Nate Berkus - cruisy - but this was years ago
RuPaul - brusque to the point of rude. Definitely not into his fans or fame.

For #10:
I saw Barbra and Jason Streisand shopping for boys' jeans once at Montgomery Ward's once. Barbra shouted, "Stand up straight and act like a man!" and Jason burst into tears. Babs then whirled around and left the store in a huff, calling over her shoulder, "You can hitchhike back to Malibu, Mary. Or better yet- the Castro!".
We were all gobsmacked. We let him call Chastity Bono from our phone and apparently Cher sent a limo for him.

Quentin Crisp autographing one of his books for me at a book signing in a book store. I was the only customer there at that moment. He was the perfect elegant teacup English gentleman. He had purple hair.
By contrast Allen Ginsberg seemed very rushed and harried, and his assistant was trying to charge $5 for him to autograph "Howl."

Jai Rodriguez - lovely man. Very sweet.
Eric Millegan - approachable, down to earth. A little high strung.
Richard Hatch (the survivor one) - a stuck up queen
Bruce Vilanch - hilarious and good company
Charles Busch - reserved, but very nice
Del Shores - a pretty ordinary guy. Seems to enjoy his fame and the fact he's not easily recognized
Jim J. Bullock - when I first met him, a huge tina queen. Cleaned up his act and was much nicer the second time around.

I wasn't there, but to a friend. Carson came out of some boutique in Chelsea and had clearly been shopping up the town, laden with shopping bags bearing ALL the right names in the crook of each arm. As he burst onto the sidewalk, he saw my friend, who was quite cute and young then, and asked, sweetly, "Can you get me a cab?"

Stated this before on here, Anderson Cooper walked up to me at a NOLA, eatery , I was hosting. He said he wanted a table. I told him, I had called 3 tables, If he would stand aside , I would give him the next in 2-3 min. He said, " I want one of those. " I told him, I could not get in trouble. He stated," DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ?" I said the great great great grandson of commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt and the son of Gloria Vanderbilt. He huffed away.
LESLIE Jordan, snotty little queen, broke in front of me to get a drink at a gay bar in the ATL. He, threw his arms in the air, and screeched. "I HAVE AN EMMY." I shot back, "I HAVE MANNERS."
Once, checked out of a Hotel. Bruce Jenner, when he still had all his equipment. Was nice enough.
Waited on Johnny Whitaker and Rip Taylor , ( CONFETTI QUEEN.) Both rather bitchy and bland.

Reichen Lemkul (or however you spell his fake name) - snotty, condescending, aloof, bored Jonathan Adler - a little socially awkward, but friendly, warm and down-to-earth Greg Louganis - at a fundraiser where he was the keynote speaker - he was trying so hard to be nice but it was so clear he didn't want to be there. Thomas Roberts - passed him and his BF on the street and he smiled and looked at me like "Yes, it's me". It was creepy.

I've had a bunch of run ins -- it's hard not to when you live in NYC -- but to answer someone from above, I ran into Sondhein once. It was Playwrights Horizon. I want to say it was the original run of Once on This Island, but I can't guarantee that. He was sitting in the very last row with two younger guys. I approached him, told him how much I enjoy his work, and, far from being dismissive, he was chatty and friendly and totally open, and we talked about a whole bunch of other things. I was not expecting that, and was pleasantly surprised.

A couple who haven't been mentioned (all in L.A. in the 1980s):
Daniel J. Travanti and partner at a party. I was first surprised to see the star of Hill Street Blues carrying a man-purse that looked just like a regular purse, and second by how queeny he was when he spoke. They were flirtatious, but not seriously so. I had no idea Travanti was gay until I met him.
Robert Reed at another party. Quiet, intelligent, seemed somehow depressed or morose by nature.
Henry Polic II at a dinner. Very polite, engaging, great dinner companion.
Ian McKellen at a reception. Could clearly turn on the charm when he wanted to, but didn't want to that day. Tersely polite.

Ditto on Sandy - she is ugly. Backstage at Sanders Theater at Harvard. Terrible sound system had her very pissed off, something that does not enhance her [italic]visage[/italic]
Rosie O'Donnell at the Ambassador East in Chicago. Dirty mouth. Drunk. At lunch.
Jodie Foster at the Sunset Marquis in LA: Filthy mouth. Sober, though. By the pool (and she was young - this was thirty-plus years ago.) I was reading "Reversal of Fortune" about Claus von Bulow. She asked if she could look at it and that's what she did: turning the pages looking at picture after picture.
Paul Lynde in Key West. Funny but sad - drinking with a bunch of people. Shitfaced before dinner.
Dead demi-celebs (minor league):
Tony Warren, creator of Coronation Street, on the QE2. Nice man, melancholy, felt ill-used by life, alcoholic who was sober for years. Good writer - 3 or 4 novels. Loved Manchester. Dead.
Gerry Studds, former Congressman censured for diddling a page. Halloween fundraiser. I was in a sort-of Lynchian suit made of play money instead of grass - it was addressing greed. He wanted to know who my character was. I was shitfaced and said "A Congressman." Miss Studds had no sense of humor. Pity. She's dead.
Barney Frank, former Congressman, had a hustler bf who was turning tricks out of Barney's apartment. Like Studds, he's from Massachusetts. Both re-elected overwhelmingly. Genuinely nice guy but a policy wonk with the bad habit of spraying what he's saying. I can take policy discussions or dodging incoming flecks of saliva, but not both. And he's not dead. Just his career.
Casey Donovan, dead porn star. Very nice, warm, friendly. We spent an afternoon drinking - no sex. Fascinating story, though.

I went to college in Athens, GA and you’d occasionally see Michael Stipe (or another member of REM) out. Mine isn't that exciting but I very briefly met Elton John when I was about 14. He was doing a charity tennis event for his AIDS foundation near where I lived. My aunt and uncle were going and surprised me with a ticket because they knew I love his music and sports. [quote] Who's met Sondheim?
I spoke with him on the Acela from DC to NY back in 2002 when the Kennedy Center did a whole bunch of his shows in rep. With a bit of planning, you could see four different shows in a weekend, which I had done.
He was on his way back to his seat from the men's room and I stood up and said 'Mr. Sondheim, I just want to thank you for one of the most memorable weekends of my theater-going life'. That got his attention and he asked what shows I had seen. I told him SWEENEY, MERRILY, NIGHT MUSIC, and COMPANY. He looked at me and deadpanned 'What? Not SUNDAY IN THE PARK?'. Hoping he was kidding, I shrugged and said 'What can I say? I ran out of money'. He laughed politely so I asked him if he'd seen the recent Chicago Shakespeare Theater production of PACIFIC OVERTURES. He said he hadn't so I told him I thought it was a great production of one of my all-time favorite shows. He thanked me and that was that.
He was traveling alone (first class) and when we got to Penn Station I noticed the rest of his entourage came pouring out of the Business Class car.

If you've ever taken the train to Penn Station you'll know that there is a crush of people all spilling out of each train car and merging onto the narrow platform. neither one are really gay celebs but
got cruised from his car in the parking lot by Brian austin green while I was walking into a drug store a long long time ago shortly after 90210 went off the air.
the other one was Marc Christian the ex boyfriend of Rock Hudson.... It was at the Abbey on the outside patio in the early 90 s. He sat down at the next table and I discretely looked his way and he got this knowing look that I knew who he was. He put his billfold and cell phone and cigs down on the table and he looked kind of pale and thin and like he had had some facial plastic surgery. He didnt look healthy and he also seemed more effeminate than what has been reported in the media. The only reason I knew it was him is I read a couple of the Hudson biographies and recognized him from the media. Thats the best I can do.
