Gay Man Turned Away From London Bear Club for Wearing High Heels
A gay man was reportedly denied entry to a gay nightclub in London for wearing thigh-high faux leather boots with four-inch heels.
A bouncer at XXL London, which caters to the bear and leather communities, allegedly turned away Pavel Vacek because of the club’s strict “no femininity policy.”
The bouncer “wasn’t aggressive,” Vacek, 33, tells Gay Star News. “He said it was club policy that you can’t wear makeup, wigs, high heels or anything feminine. He said: ‘We don’t allow femininity.’”
“I think he was just doing his job,” Vacek continues. “I was upset of course but I wasn’t blaming the bouncer. It’s just the general attitude of the club.”
“If you wear heels, it doesn’t mean you’re feminine,” argues Vacek, who wore his boots to accessorize tight black jeans and a tank top.
“Who says heels are just for women? You can be masculine and super buff and wear heels. I think it’s sexier. It’s not a written rule.”
“When you have heels on, people look at you. It’s something special, and something different from trainers. I think they’re hot.”
Vacek says he does not plan to return to XXL: “I’m quite open-minded and I like open-minded environments. If there’s strict rules for something, I don’t like it.”

Does Big Ears Tovey own this club?

This is what passes for "news"? A bar/restaurant happens to have a dress code, and someone's upset about that?

Bear wearing high heels: The last frontier. When will discrimination against the most vulnerable minority even end?

Maybe the heals identified as loafers.

It's so that the club can stay a gay club and not be invaded by straight women. I do wonder though, would a super butch woman be allowed in? If the high heels man wants to troll the club he could find one and recruit her to try, lmao!

A few years ago friends of ours were turned away from a club in London for wearing sneakers. They didn't go crying about it to everybody online. They went to another club.

Where else would you, r8 and r9, go to whine about anything, other than DL?

I used to work at this club. The owner is a total and utter cunt.

Tired of inconsequential semi trans people trying to push their somewhat mentally questionable thought processes as discrimination.

I worked there 10 years ago. There was a backroom, but it's not a sex-club per se. There's far more space given over to dancing than fucking.

This proves guys into the whole leather/rubber scene are usually bitchy little girls playing macho dress up.

Then why is the music set a mash of Britney, Cristina, Gaga, Jessie J, and Kylie remixes that make the bears all squeal? I've never seen more incongruity between the clientele and the soundtrack in my gay clubbing life. The boys are XL, but the vibe is way too XX for me.

It's a massive non-story. Even he can see it was stupid to try to get into XXL in heels.

I wore a speedo, American flag t-shirt with sleeves cut off and white clogs to Les Alliés and they would not seat me. I was OK with that. Read more of my story here.

This is major, and I'm surprised with Brexit and the potential forced euro bear migration back to the continent that it's not getting more coverage.

The are really ugly shoes - If they were more fabulous I doubt there would have been any problem. I wonder what the rest of his outfit looked like.

This is not a new practice. In the 80s and 90s, leather clubs were routinely turning away guys wearing polo shirts, tennis shoes etc.
The whole thing is a costume party to begin with. No harm in requiring costumes of the appropriate theme.

I suspect as someone mentioned up thread that it is a way of turning away straight women on a night out. You wouldn’t be allowed to turn women away for the simple fact they are female but dress codes are allowed and if strictly adhered to would indeed stop many women from going in.
