The thing that always has my head going in circles is that there are SO MANY other breeds of dogs, with a huge range of characteristics. Dogs that have been bred for specific needs. Why, of all the dogs a person can choose, choose one of the ugly, dangerous beasts?

And finally, because of the taboo on putting these freak dogs down, they have essentially invaded the dog gene pool. 20 years ago, a family could go to the pound and pick out a nice little spaniel Labrador mix. This is no longer possible, now EVERY dog is at least part pitbull. And the staff will try to BS prospective owners otherwise, IE describing a 3/4 pitbull, one quarter lab as a "lab mix ".
