Why did this album flop? It got the best reviews of her career. Is she effectively retired from releasing new music?
It's one of the few Britney albums where the slower songs are the best: "Invitation", "Make Me...", "Just Luv Me".
"Private Show" put me off listening to the album for a while - her vocals on that track are like nails down a blackboard for me.

Papa Spears will never let that cash cow retire from music.

I loved the song Man on the Moon. Such a sweet, pop delight that feels like a great Janet or Madonna 80s era song. I thought this album was strong and I’m not a Britney fanatic but I bought it on CD to support her because I liked what I heard on Spotify.

It’s boring. I downloaded it and it doesn’t have great replay value for me, unlike some songs from Blackout and Circus. Those were more interesting. Everything on Glory is a little too polished and radio-ready.

This isn’t from Glory, but I like “Selfish” because when she sings “tonight I’m gonna be a little sail-fish, be a little sail-fish,” I see a little cartoon Charlie Tuna-like sailfish in my mind dancing to the beat and winking at me.

I like Do You Wanna Come Over
My friend hates that song
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 1, 2018 9:33 PM |
She doesn’t sound even vaguely like an organic biological entity on Man in the Moon. Why do they do that? She has shown by singing a capella that she does have at least a limited range in which she can sing legitimately. Why do they have to robotocize her to oblivion?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 1, 2018 9:35 PM |
Why would anyone want to listen to artists who can't sing?
It's like watching movies with actors who can't act, or going to a ballet with performers who can't dance.

R8 But that’s the thing. She can sing at least somewhat well when she tries. This is from a concert one year ago. She probably has poor pitch but her voice has a lot more resonance than I ever assumed from tracks that have been leaked of her singing live while dancing.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 1, 2018 9:40 PM |
More of her actually singing. It’s just not that bad. I don’t get why they fuck with her voice so much in the studio.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 1, 2018 9:44 PM |
R9, that clip was painful. She was flat everywhere and couldn't hold a note.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 1, 2018 10:35 PM |
She's a has been, that's why it didn't sell.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 1, 2018 10:44 PM |
R12 I'd say she's had a good run with a 20 year pop career.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 1, 2018 10:48 PM |
r13, anyone who is forced to do Vegas by the time she's 30 is old news.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 1, 2018 10:53 PM |
I really like “Make Me” and I’m surprised it wasn’t a hit. But maybe her time as a pop star with new hits is over.

I like Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 1, 2018 11:44 PM |
If I’m Dancing should’ve been a released single from Glory! So good!

“Do You Want To Come Over” should have been here first single. Music Video : A country couture block party fiesta dance party 💃🏼. Spaghetti strap bustier, Red conga skirt. The Gold giuseppe zanotti cruel summer heels, some sexy salsa and tango choreography with her boyfriend and backup dancers and boom : An iconic Britney video. Now it’s like her management doesn’t even try with her music videos anymore.

I think Britney's heart is not in it and she'd rather have a life out of the limelight. The problem is, she's in a conservatorship controlled by her father and doesn't handle her own finances, so she has to do what he wants, and what he wants is the millions that comes from a Britney Spears venture.

I also like this song, although the chorus beginning at 0:45 and even the title are suspiciously reminiscent of Mika’s “Take It Easy.”

I saw her in Vegas before her residency ended. I loved it! She did a lot of songs from In the Zone, my personal favorite.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 2, 2018 10:52 AM |
Did she sing at all, R23? Besides with low volume over a front-facing engineered track?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 2, 2018 10:54 AM |
I don't think so r24. But that's what I was expecting. I really wanted to see her and was thrilled to go since I've been a fan since I was a kid. The dancing and theatrics were great though. We had the closest seats you could get without purchasing the tables directly in front of the stage. She's thinner and looks better in person.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 2, 2018 11:18 AM |
her bird has flown.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 2, 2018 11:22 AM |
Cool, R25. Glad you had fun. I can’t imagine wanting to shell out money to see a singer who doesn’t sing, but we are all different! I am the Tori Amos troll who likes her concerts because she plays and sings and the audience mostly listens. Several people who have been to her concerts with me thought she was a great live performer but were a little freaked out because they’d never been to a concert in which the audience stays in their seats and listens instead of getting drunk and dancing, with lots of dancers and pyrotechnics.

The Vegas show was shit. A load of noise and effects to try and distract from her severe lack of talent. People support her because they feel sorry for her and want her to do well... after all, she was victimised by the press and her mental decline was made entertainment fodder for the masses. This girl was a guileless hick from the rural South who was not equipped for the Hollywood circus and flipped out accordingly. And also, people feel guilty about enjoying her freak out back in the day, shaved head and all. The attention she now receives is part guilt, part fascination as far as the public goes.

Who?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 2, 2018 11:52 AM |
Glory is such a good album and didn’t deserve the drubbing it got. I’m not a Brit fan at all and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 2, 2018 12:11 PM |
I like Femme Fatale a lot more than Glory. I never replay songs from Glory.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 2, 2018 12:13 PM |
Britney should do something revolutionary, like hiring a philosopher and a quantum physicist to co-write an album set to minimal instrumentation, with a few radically political songs. She seems to be a blank canvas for computer engineers, anyway, so they may as well paint her as something provocative and make some heads turn.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 2, 2018 12:15 PM |
R20 I like that song too and Trouble. But In The Zone is still my fav album.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 2, 2018 5:31 PM |
I agree, Glory is a very good pop album. "Slumber Party" is a great song; should have been a smash.

Singing careers just do not last that long. She's lucky hers ran as along as it did.
Someone like Madonna, who has had big hit albums for thirty years running, is an exception rather than a rule. And she is such only because she has a rabid fan base.
