I've been a Kate Fan for 35 years but "The Wedding List" remains my favorite of all of her songs.

"Kidnapped On A Building Site" is a demo from 1980 that is just awesome!

This remix of 2005's "King Of The Mountain" is amazing!

Full-length version of 1987's "Be Kind To My Mistakes"

Hate her screechy voice. Like a cat being strangled.

"James And The Cold Gun" is one of my favorites, too!!!!
I love this weird video of "Babooshka"!!!

My very favorite is 'Cloudbusting', but I love so much of her work. I'm really fond of the Never For Ever album with songs like 'Breathing' and 'Army Dreamers':

Something Good (Utah Saints)

I used to listen to 'Them heavy people' on repeat.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 21, 2018 1:45 AM |
LOL, I've never seen that one, R7. I love her.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 21, 2018 1:48 AM |
So many to choose from, but Cloudbursting would be my all time favorite.
It's the song that introduced me to Kate Bush and remains stunning.
"But just saying it could even make it happen."
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 21, 2018 1:50 AM |
Probably Suspended in Gaffa. Thank you for reminding me to listen to that album again.

When I was teen I was obsessed with the ninth wave; trying to find all the hidden messages like morse code, the different languages...etc. At one point, someone had compiled a list of the many things that were hidden in those songs. But, my fav song of hers is woman's work.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 21, 2018 1:55 AM |
Are we sure Kate and Mary Steenburgen aren't the same person?
I love this one and of course, it's a classic:
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 21, 2018 2:01 AM |
I can't pick just one, but I'll try to pick just one from each album:
The Kick Inside - Moving
Lionheart - Symphony in Blue - or Fullhouse
Never Forever - Delius
The Dreaming - Night of the Swallow - or Suspended in Gaffa
Hounds of Love - Running Up That Hill
The Ninth Wave - Hello Earth
The Sensual World - Never Be Mine
The Red Shoes - Eat the Music
Aerial: A Sea of Honey - How to Be Invisible - or Mrs Bartalozzi
Aerial: A Sky of Honey - Nocturne - and Aerial Tal because it's crazy and wonderful
Director's Cut - Rubberband Girl
50 Words for Snow - Lake Tahoe
Okay, I cheated a couple of times, and split two albums into their concept and non-concept parts.

R14 and R25 - that didn’t get much play in my part of the world. Thanks for reminding me how much I loved the Utah Saints.

Her cover of Brazil for the movie soundtrack is transcendent
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 21, 2018 2:32 AM |
I love "Delius," too, R24.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 21, 2018 2:44 AM |
Running Up that Hill
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 21, 2018 2:54 AM |
Too many to mention.
Here's a B-side I love:
You watch the clock move the slow hand
I should have been home hours ago
But I'm not here
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 21, 2018 3:12 AM |
'Wow' is her greatest song. It's hauntingly dramatic in an easy listening kind of way which Is why I love it.
When she sings" that movie queen he's too busy hitting the vaseline" she pats her ass in the video. lol

Be Kind to My Mistakes is a great B side:
[italic]It's all right, darling
We can do this together
It's all right, darling
I can think of nothing better
I don't know you
And you don't know me
It is this that brings us together[/italic]

Hounds of Love (the song) is my favorite piece of hers. I know it’s one of her most “approachable” songs, and I do love her more avant garde stuff, but you can hear the influence of Hounds in so much contemporary music even to this day in the alt rock scene.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 21, 2018 3:42 AM |
Love “Running Up arhat Hill” and thought it fit perfectly on the new Ryan Murphy show POSE.
Also love “Why Should I Love You”, which features vocals by Prince and Brit comedian Lenny Henry...

R40 And you're sharing your ignorance because?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 21, 2018 5:39 AM |
More love for "never be mine." The songs with the Bulgarian women are incredible.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 21, 2018 5:43 AM |
One of the best lines in her music: 'I put this moment here'
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 21, 2018 5:26 PM |
Cloudbusting was the first song I thought about
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 21, 2018 6:02 PM |
They told us all they wanted
Was a sound that could kill someone from a distance
So we go ahead and the meters are over in the red
It's a mistake in the making

My favorites are still the two I saw her do on Saturday Night Live in 1978 -The Man With The Child In His Eyes and Them Heavy People.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 22, 2018 10:51 PM |
They used This Woman’s Work to nice effect in The Handmaid’s Tale this season. Impossible to name a favorite from her. I do love Night of the Swallow and had a period a while ago when I couldn’t get Egypt out of my mind.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 22, 2018 10:52 PM |
"The Man with the Child in His Eyes", "Wow", "Running Up That Hill", "Jig of Life", "This Woman's Work", "Under the Ivy"
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 22, 2018 10:56 PM |
Count me as another who can't pick just one. The Man with the Child in His Eyes is a beauty. Also love Hello Earth. I remember I played that for a friend in college who had never heard her before. She then listened to The Hounds of Love CD for weeks afterward and fell in love with Kate. I also love And Dream of Sheep. Under the Ivy is another good one. Un Baiser d'Enfant is great. She sings it in English, too, but I prefer the French version. I love to listen to Warm and Soothing over the holidays. So many more. Love me some Kate!

Placebo vs Pet Shop Boys vs Kate Bush - Love Comes Running Up That Hill Quickly
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 23, 2018 4:21 AM |
I love the combo of Prince and Trio Bulgarka on "Why Should I Love You." Kate could make odd juxtapositions like that work.
Cloudbusting, Hounds of Love, This Woman's Work, Running Up That Hill, Suspended in Gaffa would probably be my Top 5.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | June 23, 2018 7:25 AM |
so many, but right now i'm obsessed with "Heads we're dancing" from The Sensual World. It's about a woman who meets a charming man who asks her to dance in 1939. And the next day she finds out he was Adolf Hitler. Only Kate Bush, people.

Jig of Life.

Cloudbusting - always and forever my favorite.
"But every time it rains You're here in my head Like the sun coming out Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen.."

Wuthering Heights
If I really, really, have to pick one, this is the one I can listen to on a loop. My joy for this song is the same as it was when I first heard it as a teen.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 26, 2018 7:02 AM |
I imagine she never heard of you, and neither did anyone else, R40.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | September 26, 2018 7:03 AM |
She's got you on the wedding list, R40.
She's got you and she WILL NOT miss!

Elvis, are you out there somewhere
Looking like a happy man?
In the snow with Rosebud
And king of the mountain.

Can't you see where memories are kept bright? Tripping on the water like a laughing girl Time in her eyes is spawning past life One with the ocean and the woman unfurled Holding all the love that waits for you here Catch us now for I am your future A kiss on the wind and we'll make the land Come over here to where When lingers Waiting in this empty world Waiting for Then, when the lifespray cools For Now does ride in on the curl of the wave And you will dance with me in the sunlit pools We are of the going water and the gone We are of water in the holy land of water And all that's to come runs in With the thrust on the strand
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 27, 2018 12:25 AM |
Most of my favourites have been mentioned, so I’ll just add The Infant Kiss. It was also inspired by one of my favourite movies, The Innocents.
But Wuthering Heights will always be my absolute favourite.

Just came across this old thread and have to add my love for "Never Be Mine" and other songs with the Trio Bulgarka. The beginning of Rocket's Tail is just stunning, even better because of the Roger Waters sound.
I was just marveling that "The Sensual World" is 20 years old already...until I realized it's 30.

Oops David Gilmour, not Roger Waters.
