Why he ever got involved with a cosplayer in the first place is beyond me. Going to a convention center dressed like a Japanese anime cartoon character is pretty much the definition of mental instability.

Obviously you've never been to Comic Con in San Diego. There are thousands of them, male and female. And lots of celebrities too, because they can wear masks and not be bothered by anyone. I'd rather gouge my eyes out, but I have friends that live for this shit.
