I played the theme to Y and R in a piano recital as a kid. It was really popular in the late 70’s.

I liked the Passions theme but I would later watch a week's worth of shows in a day on the old VCR & I'd have to admit the long version would get on my nerves at times (especially if it didn't fit the mood of the show at the start).

A dead young black rapper in America in 2018?
Who could of predicted such a thing?
I'm listening to "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen on my car radio as I drive myself home.

Miss R15 is in the wrong thread, but she should be slapped repeatedly for using "could of."

OP, my favorites would be:
A tie between the 83-85 GL and the 1991 era GL theme
The 70s AW
The 80s ATWT
The "disco" GL
Ryan's Hope theme
The old Doctors theme

I know its heresy to say this, but my favorite AW theme was the 81-87 one.

r18 The one who doesn't talk is Richard Bekins, correct?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 21, 2018 8:19 AM |
Yes, that's Richard Bekins doing the reaction shot, r19
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 21, 2018 8:27 AM |
Thank you, r22. Also, thank you for saying "reaction shot."

Did anyone ever notice that Dr. Mark Craig on St. Elsewhere had a great friend—maybe a mentor, I can no longer remember—named Dr. David Domedion. It came right back to me when I started watching ATWT and its end credits.

Here's the full instrumental of the AW credits circa 1981.
Some really good cast shots. Especially of Beverly Penberthy, Paul Stevens and Irene Dailey.

Thanks, r25. Who could have known in 1981 that I would become the Magnificent Midwestern Towns fan I turned into by 1989?

Crossroads (UK) had even more incarnations than American soaps.

Honorable mention.
I don't watch it but love that it's been the same for 50+ years.

Search for Tomorrow had some really good themes.

Stay tuned for "GUIDING LIGHT" on most of these CBS stations!
Handbags and belts by Oscar de la Renta!
Join us tomorrow for "As The World Turns!"

I n some ways I will always think of this as the "real" one because this is what the theme was when I started watching.

I loved the short-lived Blue and Gold ATWT theme...

A collection of themes cannot go by with the Lois Kibbee Over The Glasses Glance!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 21, 2018 5:47 PM |
Without, rather.

A soap opera isn't a soap opera without General Foods International Coffee! I love all the post-credits sponsorship announcements, it's baked into my memory.

Where is Coronation Street in this?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 21, 2018 6:25 PM |
All of the post-Marland themes sucked, as did the post-Marland stories.

R44 It's at R32, so sling yer 'ook, you cow!

I still laugh at someone in one of the Midwestern threads who said that when Victoria Wyndham farted, it sounded like the 70s AW theme.

Can't believe they left the original EDGE OF NIGHT opening off the poll.
