John Travolta in GOTTI movie gets rare zero percent on Rotten Tomatoes

oh god how exquisite!! So he FORCED this stupid, boring film that no one wants to see into Cannes, only to be rewarded with this. LOVE IT. That look on his face is priceless too. Hey John? You're are really gross and no one wants to see you in movies anymore.

I keep seeing this film advertised and I’m like “who is this movie for?” Who would want to pay money and sit through this? Well, now we know.
But really: was someone really eager to see John Gotti’s story on the big screen? Why?

Here’s one
Admittedly, Travolta, who produced, is sure having fun. What ham wouldn't? Chewing on the scenery like it was a meatball hero, he swaggers around in shiny suits and silver wigs, barking orders.

They should have made it with Lindsay Lohan as Victoria Gotti. There's not a film that Lindsay can't salvage.

I had heard about this recently, but had no idea it was a theatrical release. It sounds like it should be an original movie on basic cable.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 15, 2018 8:29 PM |
I don't understand the hate. Gotti was a fascinating bad guy. Charismatic, dangerous crime boss. What's the problem with a movie about him? It's not The Godfather, perhaps, but why the hate? Travolta seems like a perfect fit for the role.

It's starring John Travolta.

Sorry but nobody is buying Travolta as a gangster the dapper don who once chainsaw'd a man in half.
The same Travolta with his hairpiece, gay rumors confirmed by Carrie Fisher, the weirdo scientology stuff, then seen kissing a man -- his boyfriend -- on the tarmac with his airplane........... to play john fucking gotti????????????????????
Nonsense. This movie should be panned on general principle.

From what I remember about its Cannes premiere, this film tries to paint Gotti in a positive light which didn't sit well with reviewers and it was coproduced with Gotti s family so that should tell you how toothless the movie is.

"A mobster biopic that deserves to get whacked." By Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
"John Travolta, trying earnestly to act his way through a ton of lousy makeup and an even heavier slab of bad screenwriting, plays mafioso John Gotti in this chaotic biopic that jumps all over the place but still fails to manifest a pulse. As the Teflon Don tells us upfront: 'This life ends one of two ways: Dead, or in jail. I did both.' Audiences, sentenced to do time with this corpse of a movie, will know the feeling."

by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 17, 2018 2:25 AM |
Oh R56, Travolta is done and Teflon Don was a peasanty peasant of the lowest order. No one cares about this ginzo. There's nothing there. No looks, short and weasel faced. Only guidos in NY cared or other adjacents who got favors. Man couldn't wear a suit. A genetic Chernobyl. No glamor. No charisma. Nobody but other Italian peasant stock gave a fuck. Short fuck who looked like he came from generations of brick layers. A sociopathic peasant criminal. Why would anyone care today. Ray Liotta was adopted. You think people wanted to see a real ugly ginzo? Godfather days are gone as well. Nobody cares about a group of peasants who don't own the traits people value today.

by Anonymous | reply 61 | June 17, 2018 3:50 AM |
R58 were you an adult in the late 80s to early 90s? Because I can tell you people WERE fascinated by Gotti and no, not just Italian Americans.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 17, 2018 3:58 AM |
The only thing that sounds worse than this movie, was when there were the rumors that he was going to make a big screen version of Dallas with him as JR and Jennifer Lopez as Sue Ellen, thankfully I think the Dallas reboot series killed that idea. Gotti is a fascinating story, but anything made about him should NOT have any involvement from his family and it would be better suited to TV.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 17, 2018 4:07 AM |
Ryan Murphy should have done Gotti—like OJ.

by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 17, 2018 5:44 AM |
It looks like a disaster. Hilariously bad. Awful movie about an awful person. Trump should take note. Love how Travers at RS takes pains to not single out Travolta.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 17, 2018 6:14 AM |
How dare they make a movie about an awful person. Wow. Why is everyone out for Travolta? Because he's vain and foolish and a bit delusional. They will praise Streep for the same things when MM2 comes out next month. Everything she promotes is garbage because she only performs badly in garbage now. Then they nominate her because she was so good at being bad in garbage. Travolta is a bit too cute and queeny for someone his age. So is Meryl.

[bold]'Gotti': How John Travolta Tried — and Failed — to Save His Passion Project[/bold]
From the Cannes Film Festival to a posh New York City premiere to stops in cities including Phoenix and Miami, John Travolta tirelessly promoted his new movie, Gotti. He even joined social media for the first time in order to spread the word.
The reason for his dedication? Travolta believed his performance as the late John Gotti, one of the most famous mafia bosses in history, would make him a player in the next awards race, according to several insiders who have been closely involved with the biopic.
