At present the Democrats really do not have a viable candidate to beat Trump. They're grasping at straws. It'll take time but don't underestimate Trump's popularity. Throw out the present batch of candidates and start from scratch. And no, it ain't Joe, either.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 11, 2018 12:28 AM |
Berniac wing of the party still wants a "pure" nominee, meanwhile our country is being destroyed by Trump and the repubilicans because of their purity. Joe won't be anointed either, he'll have to earn the nomination.

R11 If Biden is the front runner then God help the Democrats.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 11, 2018 1:58 AM |
Republicans begin their candidate-seeking and mouthpiece-searching when kids are in HIGH SCHOOL. Stephen Miller was tapped by the GOP when he was still in high school. They supported him through college. Karl Rove was head of the student Republicans when the GOP started supporting him and giving him work. He dropped out of college because he didn't need it anymore. He was already working with top level Republicans.
Democrats don't do this. They should take a page from the GOP and start noticing kids writing for their school papers who have writing talent and a commitment to democratic ideals. Then praise them, offer them emotional support and sometimes financial support. Make them feel they are valuable to the Democratic Party.
We always see Young Republicans at the RNC and CPAC. When was the last time you saw Young Democrats? There is no centralized office in the Democratic Party that plans national searches for bright young things. They need to be noticed, nurtured and rewarded.

Gov. Steve Bullock recently became the first governor in Montana history to officiate a same-sex marriage. by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 14, 2018 4:11 AM |
I know it's an old story but has the world just forgotten about Biden's plagiarism? I'm not talking about lifting the odd word, a phrase or a passage from one person like Melania was racked over the coals for. Biden was a serial plagiarist, he stole from Neil Kinnock, the Leader of the British Labour Party, RFK, JFK, and Hubert Humphery. Not to mention it was discovered that had committed plagiarism in law school and lied and embellished his college credentials. Honestly, I couldn't believe it when Obama picked Biden to be VP, but it would be idiotic for the Democrat Party to nominate him against Trump. The whole campaign is supposed to be about how Democrats contrast to Trump. If Biden is the nominee, the Democrat campaign becomes, vote for our old white groping lier, we promise he is better than the other one.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 14, 2018 4:26 AM |
R69, thank you for bringing this up, it’s never mentioned. It was a huge scandal when it came out. Between the plagiarism and his creepynes around young girls, not to mention his age, there’s no way he’d win.

by Anonymous | reply 71 | May 14, 2018 5:30 AM |
Going for Biden because he supposedly has blue collar appeal is like going for Kerry in 2004 because of the war hero thing. It’s trying to play the game on the GOP’s terms, and that’s always a losing proposition. You never play by the rules your opponent sets.
Joe Biden has been a catastrophic failure every time he has run for president. He found his place as the presidential wingman, and was excellent in the role. He should accept that as his place in history.

Fuck Joe Biden. Creepy toucher. I don’t give a flying fuck if he’s on “our team”. He cannot keep his hands to himself. But, as always, women and girls are supposed to let it happen and “he’s harmless” and “he’s a good guy” or “he’s from a different time” and he does it in front of a thousand people and a dozen cameras, if it were wrong, he’d be hiding it. Jesus Christ, that’s the exact same kind of entitlement that “I could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it” is! Oh but he’s a Democrat, we have to support him, hush now, little lady.
And IMO,Elizabeth Warren has the same problem as Hillary but worse: she’s a scold. She reminds me of the lady who teaches Sunday school to the “little ones”. I’d prefer Hillary because at least she gets her hands a little dirty with real power brokering.
And, no, I don’t have any better suggestions. I’ll give Beto a whirl.

In 2004, the Democrats nominated John Kerry.
In 2016, the next presidential election cycle the party lost, their nominee was Hillary Clinton.
Both John Kerry and Hillary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq. (So, too, did 2008’s losing Republican nominee John McCain.)
If the Democrats want to lose [italic]three[/italic] presidential election cycles by nominating specifically a candidate who voted for the Iraq War, they would do be able to achieve that with Joe Biden.
