Why Anointing Joe Biden for 2020 is a Terrible Idea
It is little wonder, then, that of the six people considered the most likely 2020 Democratic presidential contenders, only “Middle-Class Joe” does not support single-payer healthcare.

Say It Ain’t Joe: Why Anointing Biden for 2020 Is a Terrible Idea

When will the Democrats learn that Americans don’t want centrism?

by Anonymousreply 10703/14/2019

If centrism is a thing that gets rids of Trump in 2020, I'm all for it. We can always go further to the left after that.

by Anonymousreply 105/10/2018

*rid of

by Anonymousreply 205/10/2018

WTF is In These Times? A Bernie paper?

by Anonymousreply 305/10/2018

He's just too old.

by Anonymousreply 405/10/2018

At present the Democrats really do not have a viable candidate to beat Trump. They're grasping at straws. It'll take time but don't underestimate Trump's popularity. Throw out the present batch of candidates and start from scratch. And no, it ain't Joe, either.

by Anonymousreply 505/10/2018

Berniac wing of the party still wants a "pure" nominee, meanwhile our country is being destroyed by Trump and the repubilicans because of their purity. Joe won't be anointed either, he'll have to earn the nomination.

by Anonymousreply 605/10/2018
He's just too old.

What is it with American and these ancient guys? He's 75 NOW.

by Anonymousreply 705/10/2018
“Middle-Class Joe” does not support single-payer healthcare.

Middle-Class Joe didn't support marriage equality, until he did. I am hoping Joe doesn't run but no just because he doesn't support something today doesn't mean he won't tomorrow. Same for anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 805/10/2018

I don't want a 77 yr old president.

by Anonymousreply 905/10/2018

Enough Biden talk.

by Anonymousreply 1005/10/2018

Well he’s arguably the front runner right now, so there won’t be “enough Biden talk” unless he announces that he won’t run.

by Anonymousreply 1105/10/2018

R11 If Biden is the front runner then God help the Democrats.

by Anonymousreply 1205/10/2018

Republicans begin their candidate-seeking and mouthpiece-searching when kids are in HIGH SCHOOL. Stephen Miller was tapped by the GOP when he was still in high school. They supported him through college. Karl Rove was head of the student Republicans when the GOP started supporting him and giving him work. He dropped out of college because he didn't need it anymore. He was already working with top level Republicans.

Democrats don't do this. They should take a page from the GOP and start noticing kids writing for their school papers who have writing talent and a commitment to democratic ideals. Then praise them, offer them emotional support and sometimes financial support. Make them feel they are valuable to the Democratic Party.

We always see Young Republicans at the RNC and CPAC. When was the last time you saw Young Democrats? There is no centralized office in the Democratic Party that plans national searches for bright young things. They need to be noticed, nurtured and rewarded.

by Anonymousreply 1305/10/2018

When’s the last time Biden made a gaffe?

by Anonymousreply 1405/10/2018

R11 Biden’s as much a front runner as I am.

by Anonymousreply 1505/10/2018

Harris / Kennedy

by Anonymousreply 1605/10/2018
When’s the last time Biden made a gaffe?

Does it matter? He's got 40 yrs of gaffes, ripe for the Republican attack machine's picking.

by Anonymousreply 1705/10/2018

As opposed to Trump and his 3,000 lies and gaffes per week. I don’t think they’ll have much to hit on.

by Anonymousreply 1805/10/2018
As opposed to Trump and his 3,000 lies and gaffes per week. I don’t think they’ll have much to hit on.

Trump voters don't care about Trump's lies and gaffes. Liberal voters weren't as forgiving with Hillary and they won't be with Biden. They will sit at home.

Biden comforts his constituents:

Joe child touching, smelling and whispering condensed

This is compiled footage from this playlist where Joe Biden is doing at best creepy things to the young girls. Source:

by Anonymousreply 2005/10/2018

That crap is the absolute LAST reason not to nominate Joe, R20.

by Anonymousreply 2105/13/2018

I read some SJW attacking Kamala Harris for her "whorephobia."

That will get Trump reelected.

Biden is way too old

by Anonymousreply 2205/13/2018

Even thought Kamala Harris appointed a trans person to a position and has been very pro-LGBT rights, Chelsea Manning and the trans mob are against her because as Attorney General representing the state she did not cough up the money for sex-changes for two murderers.

by Anonymousreply 2305/13/2018

by Anonymousreply 2405/13/2018

Democrats who run need a message. "Not Trump" is not a message to run on. Democrats need to forget about 2020 and start working on 2024. They've wasted too much time on Russia collusion and Stormy Daniels.

by Anonymousreply 2505/13/2018

He's already proven he doesn't have the judgement worthy of a president by voting to authorize Dumb Dubya's wild goose chase in Iraq!

by Anonymousreply 2605/13/2018

Why is nobody talking about Beto O’Rourke?

He’s a young, likeable, progressive candidate who has mainstream appeal and comes from a conservative area.

by Anonymousreply 2705/13/2018

Joe Biden? Doesn’t he have a dead son? I thought I heard that once.

by Anonymousreply 2805/13/2018

Anita Hill. The end.

by Anonymousreply 2905/13/2018

Fucking hell. Can't they find anybody else? I'm sure Biden is a good man but he's just too old (75 right now) and too... I don't know but just no.

Is there NOBODY else at all? Is there such a vacuum? I think we are in for another 4 years of Trump. Pretty sure of it.

by Anonymousreply 3005/13/2018

He voted for Conidi Rice to get a promotion after she missed that memo warning about 9/11 attack

by Anonymousreply 3105/13/2018

He's too fuckin' old. How about getting someone in touch with the world?

by Anonymousreply 3205/13/2018

He'll be 77 + in 2020. Nearly dead.

by Anonymousreply 3305/13/2018

Jesus fucking Christ! Is there no middle aged hot white guy available? Just a down to earth, sexy DILF with charm? 300 million people in America and ancient Joe Biden is the front runner? Wtf??

by Anonymousreply 3405/13/2018

He actually looks frail and old now.

by Anonymousreply 3505/13/2018

Harris won't be able to win either. What a disaster.

by Anonymousreply 3605/13/2018

Hillarity 2020!

by Anonymousreply 3705/13/2018

I know. They don't even have someone like a John Edwards (who was ok up til the private life stuff...)

by Anonymousreply 3805/13/2018

The whole Democrat Party needs a refresh.

Nancy Pelosi - 78

Chuck Schumer - 67

John Kerry - 74

It's time for some younger leaders.

by Anonymousreply 3905/13/2018

R34, that guy is Beto O’Rourke, who is about to beat Ted Cruz in the Senate race in Texas.

But the Dems don’t want to hear about him, so fuck them... they can run Joe Biden and lose.

by Anonymousreply 4005/13/2018

I like Biden, and 10 years ago I'd be all for him. But, if not Biden then who, speaking realistically?

by Anonymousreply 4105/13/2018

I just saw this guy on a list of potential candidates. What is he like? Ok? Not ok?

Steve Bullock, Gov of Montana

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 4205/13/2018

R40, you posted a few seconds before me. I like O’Rourke, and I was going to say he's not experienced enough, but then I look at who's in the White House right now, and I think "Fuck it, why not?"

by Anonymousreply 4305/13/2018

R43, he’ll have more experience than Obama did.

by Anonymousreply 4405/13/2018

Experience means fuckall if you’ve got a dick and promise lies to people.

by Anonymousreply 4505/13/2018

There are A LOT of young Democratic faces. They just won’t be ready in time for 2020.

by Anonymousreply 4605/13/2018

This guy looks and sounds normal. He could win.

Possible presidential candidate Steve Bullock on Trump, trade and tariffs

Lots of names being kicked around, including one possible Democratic candidate visiting Milwaukee Wednesday.

by Anonymousreply 4705/13/2018
He's already proven he doesn't have the judgement worthy of a president by voting to authorize Dumb Dubya's wild goose chase in Iraq!

ll that proved is that he is bought and paid for by the Zionist war-mongers. Aren't they all?

by Anonymousreply 4805/13/2018
This guy looks and sounds normal. He could win.

How many women has he beaten up?

Jokes aside, after Schneidermann, even your weird sexual proclivities in the bedroom are on the table now despite the fact that the person consented. That’s why you need someone who’s a known quantity.

by Anonymousreply 4905/13/2018

R46 why not? Dump truck had ZERO political experience. Stop looking for the perfect candidate, IT DOES NOT EXIST.

by Anonymousreply 5005/13/2018

Exactly R46, there are plenty of younger qualified alternatives.

But the inept Dem leadership doesn’t want to hear this, and believes ancient Joe Biden is the way to go.

A guaranteed path to failure.

by Anonymousreply 5105/13/2018

R49 I am not sure getting shit-faced and beating on women is a "sexual proclivity".

by Anonymousreply 5205/13/2018

Gov. of Montana

Gov. Steve Bullock recently became the first governor in Montana history to officiate a same-sex marriage. He performed it Sept. 12 for Mike Wessler, his deputy communications director, and Wade Zolynski at Hauser Lake. About 100 people were in attendance. Wessler gave his boss kudos for a job well done.

by Anonymousreply 5305/13/2018
But the inept Dem leadership doesn’t want to hear this, and believes ancient Joe Biden is the way to go.

This is part of the baby boomer generation. They do not want to let go of power. They are the most selfish generation to date.

by Anonymousreply 5405/13/2018

R54, the problem is that Generation X is a bunch of slackers, and don’t have the motivation to force the Boomers out.

by Anonymousreply 5505/13/2018

And here are millennials and geernation xyz

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 5605/13/2018

damn it!

by Anonymousreply 5705/13/2018

R44, Obama served in the Illinois house for 8 years and was a US Senator for 4 more before becoming President. O'Rourke has served in the Texas Senate for 6 years. Even if he defeats Cruz in November (please please please), he'll only be able to serve 2 years in the US Senate before in 2020 elections.

Not that I'm against O'Rourke, exactly the opposite. I'd be happy as hell to see him take the White House away from the rotten orange turnip.

by Anonymousreply 5805/13/2018

R54, actually I think Pelosi and Biden are part of the Silent Generation. They are even older than the Boomers.

by Anonymousreply 5905/13/2018

Beto looks too young and the drug stuff and the SJW circus will not win votes. Trump could easily crush him.

by Anonymousreply 6005/13/2018

R60, he’s in his 40s, and nobody cares about “drug stuff” from 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 6105/13/2018

I get that sinking feeling. Like when Gore chose Lieberman as his running mate. I knew we'd lost then.

by Anonymousreply 6205/13/2018

Biden has done too much groping to be considered POTUS material. Trump may have talked about it, but Biden did it. Plenty of videos on YouTube of him groping women. ##MeToo

by Anonymousreply 6305/13/2018

Biden never molested a woman who didn’t want it.

by Anonymousreply 6405/13/2018

Haha cute. Molest = didn't want it. Just sayin for those who didn't get the sarcasm

by Anonymousreply 6505/13/2018

Biden will be almost eighty fucking years old in 2020. His time has passed.

by Anonymousreply 6605/13/2018

Plus he would have to have a really good explanation of why he didn't run after 8 years of Obama. That whole "My son is dying" just doesn't really sound like the "real" reason he didn't run.

by Anonymousreply 6705/13/2018

That Biden is even being talked about is depressing.

by Anonymousreply 6805/13/2018

I know it's an old story but has the world just forgotten about Biden's plagiarism? I'm not talking about lifting the odd word, a phrase or a passage from one person like Melania was racked over the coals for. Biden was a serial plagiarist, he stole from Neil Kinnock, the Leader of the British Labour Party, RFK, JFK, and Hubert Humphery. Not to mention it was discovered that had committed plagiarism in law school and lied and embellished his college credentials. Honestly, I couldn't believe it when Obama picked Biden to be VP, but it would be idiotic for the Democrat Party to nominate him against Trump. The whole campaign is supposed to be about how Democrats contrast to Trump. If Biden is the nominee, the Democrat campaign becomes, vote for our old white groping lier, we promise he is better than the other one.

by Anonymousreply 6905/13/2018

R69, thank you for bringing this up, it’s never mentioned. It was a huge scandal when it came out. Between the plagiarism and his creepynes around young girls, not to mention his age, there’s no way he’d win.

by Anonymousreply 7005/13/2018

And his cravenness during Anita Hill.

by Anonymousreply 7105/13/2018

Going for Biden because he supposedly has blue collar appeal is like going for Kerry in 2004 because of the war hero thing. It’s trying to play the game on the GOP’s terms, and that’s always a losing proposition. You never play by the rules your opponent sets.

Joe Biden has been a catastrophic failure every time he has run for president. He found his place as the presidential wingman, and was excellent in the role. He should accept that as his place in history.

by Anonymousreply 7205/13/2018

Hillary 2020!

This time she's ready to win!

by Anonymousreply 7305/13/2018

LOL r73

3rd times the charm?

by Anonymousreply 7405/13/2018

Biden is a Democrat.

The media would rather perform crude plastic surgery on themselves than expose a fellow collectivist

by Anonymousreply 7505/13/2018

I'd be all in for Elizabeth Warren and think she's one of the few who might be able to bridge the divide between Hillary and Bernie supporters. I get that Dems are focused on the midterms, but trying to "not relitigate 2016" when it was never fully litigated is a big mistake, in my opinion. Thinking it won't rear its ugly head again in 2020 is delusional.

by Anonymousreply 7605/13/2018

Warren is too much of a Bernie Bro, I don't like her hypocritical ass.

by Anonymousreply 7705/13/2018

My goodness R27 I'd forgotten about Kerry. So easy to forget.

What do the boring wimpy Dukakis, Biden, Gore, Kerry have in common. At least Lieberman had his agenda however foul and Hillary has the balls in the Dem family.

by Anonymousreply 7805/14/2018
Why is nobody talking about Beto O’Rourke?

If Beto beats Cruz, he is a sure in for the WH.

by Anonymousreply 7905/14/2018

Too late, Joe. You coulda beat tramp.

by Anonymousreply 8005/14/2018

Fuck Joe Biden. Creepy toucher. I don’t give a flying fuck if he’s on “our team”. He cannot keep his hands to himself. But, as always, women and girls are supposed to let it happen and “he’s harmless” and “he’s a good guy” or “he’s from a different time” and he does it in front of a thousand people and a dozen cameras, if it were wrong, he’d be hiding it. Jesus Christ, that’s the exact same kind of entitlement that “I could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it” is! Oh but he’s a Democrat, we have to support him, hush now, little lady.

And IMO,Elizabeth Warren has the same problem as Hillary but worse: she’s a scold. She reminds me of the lady who teaches Sunday school to the “little ones”. I’d prefer Hillary because at least she gets her hands a little dirty with real power brokering.

And, no, I don’t have any better suggestions. I’ll give Beto a whirl.

Why can’t Obama run again?

by Anonymousreply 8105/14/2018

by Anonymousreply 9105/14/2018

In 2004, the Democrats nominated John Kerry.

In 2016, the next presidential election cycle the party lost, their nominee was Hillary Clinton.

Both John Kerry and Hillary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq. (So, too, did 2008’s losing Republican nominee John McCain.)

If the Democrats want to lose [italic]three[/italic] presidential election cycles by nominating specifically a candidate who voted for the Iraq War, they would do be able to achieve that with Joe Biden.

by Anonymousreply 9205/15/2018

What will his platform be? "Oh I was Obama's vice president". Wopee do
