They look like father and son.

by Anonymousreply 5May 8, 2018 3:26 AM

Why would you kill someone you loved for 2 decades?

In my experience lovely, sweet pillars of the community don’t usually take out restraining orders against each other, file for divorce while the other is out of town, empty the house without the spouse’s knowledge, secretly move in with underage trash or murder each other in fits of rage. But maybe that’s just me.

by Anonymousreply 7May 8, 2018 4:19 AM

Ben the murderer should have been arrested after wearing the suit in the picture above!

by Anonymousreply 8May 8, 2018 6:54 AM

They were gay royalty in Houston.

by Anonymousreply 9May 8, 2018 6:56 AM

That's what happens when there's no consensus over whether pasta should be drained.

by Anonymousreply 10May 8, 2018 10:11 AM

These two are what I despise most about the "gay community".. Filthy rich, shallow, obsessed with youth. I'm sure all kinds of nasty shit happened behind closed doors. Hustlers,drugs,disease,etc... Just looking at them you can tell they're sad inside...

by Anonymousreply 11May 8, 2018 10:53 AM

The one on the right seems to be not all there, or present in the moment. The other one is way too smiley.. I can picture him being a rageaholic.. Which one killed the other?

by Anonymousreply 12May 8, 2018 11:03 AM

I love how a pic of a couple in tuxedos holding flutes of champagne is supposed to qualify them as “society”

They were the pinnacle of gay society. Their deaths have left gay high society in a state of mourning and confusion.

by Anonymousreply 15May 8, 2018 8:24 PM

I'm sure Houston today feels like Paris of 1789.

There is already a thread on this topic with more than 400+ posts, Paul Revere OP.

They were beloved by gay community in Texas. True Angels.

by Anonymousreply 20May 8, 2018 11:17 PM

Ignore-dar reveals OP tries to bump this thread up even though he's been told multiple times there's another big thread on this.

by Anonymousreply 21May 8, 2018 11:39 PM

Does anyone know when the funerals or memorial services will take place?

by Anonymousreply 22May 10, 2018 3:28 AM

Did they die, OP?

Were they fatally killed?

by Anonymousreply 23May 10, 2018 3:38 AM

Houston's straight and LGBT community are in shock over the murder suicide. No one understands how Ben could have done this heinous crime.

by Anonymousreply 24May 10, 2018 6:16 AM

Where can donations be sent in René's memory?

by Anonymousreply 25May 10, 2018 6:26 AM

OP's taking donations up his ass.

by Anonymousreply 26May 10, 2018 7:50 AM

Any updates on services for them?

by Anonymousreply 27May 12, 2018 6:54 AM

Everyone in gay Texas is mourning and mystified by their deaths.

by Anonymousreply 28May 12, 2018 11:55 PM

Who fucking cares....... Bunch of sad old queens trying to maintain a grip on their "youth"... I doubt they did anything even remotely positive or good in their lifetime,,,

by Anonymousreply 29May 13, 2018 6:30 AM

They were leaders in Houston & Texas' LGGTI community and great philanthropists!

by Anonymousreply 30May 13, 2018 7:10 AM

They were the loveliest people in the world except for that pesky murder/suicide thingie!

by Anonymousreply 31May 14, 2018 1:50 AM

Was it really murder/suicide or was Benjamin framed by the real killer?

by Anonymousreply 32May 14, 2018 1:51 AM

Is anyone going to be going to Rene's funeral this week?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 33May 14, 2018 2:29 AM

This is a tragic week for many of us who were friends with them.

by Anonymousreply 34May 14, 2018 4:51 AM

The person most likely to murder you is the person who sits across from you at the breakfast table.

by Anonymousreply 35May 14, 2018 5:07 AM

Will Benjamin's family have the nerve to claim money from Rene's estate?

by Anonymousreply 36May 14, 2018 6:34 AM

It's going to be a battle for custody of the dogs!

by Anonymousreply 37May 15, 2018 4:22 AM

Twenty plus years together and then your family comes to take you home. So bloody tragic.

by Anonymousreply 38May 15, 2018 7:22 AM

Who owned the house? Was the house only in René's name?

by Anonymousreply 39May 16, 2018 3:51 AM

René was the wealthy oil & gas baron. Benji was the adoring wife.

by Anonymousreply 40May 16, 2018 5:23 AM

This is why gays shouldn't get married Divorce will kill you.

by Anonymousreply 41May 16, 2018 5:36 AM

Has the "other man" been identified yet?

by Anonymousreply 42May 17, 2018 5:04 AM

When is Benjamin Ruiz's funeral service?

by Anonymousreply 43May 17, 2018 5:38 AM

A fine opportunity for Houston's many 42 year old bottoms to don their best black, sleeveless shirts.

by Anonymousreply 44May 17, 2018 5:48 AM

With all those bottoms the Church must have been packed!

by Anonymousreply 45May 18, 2018 5:33 AM

Sad on so many levels. Will anyone ever come forward with backstory details?

This is one of the most tragic and hostile breakups I have ever heard of. After 22 years together, why could they not reconcile or find a workable compromise?

Details are missing here and some people in Houston must have opinions or know things which have not come to light regarding their lives together.

by Anonymousreply 46May 18, 2018 7:29 AM

Get over yourself r46, nobody gives a fuck. Two shallow, vacuous, bitchy queens who were always sad because they realized that their supposed "wealth" couldn't buy happiness snapped. I would have preferred death by seiner dogs for them. More hilarious...

by Anonymousreply 47May 18, 2018 9:39 AM

...wiener that is

And someone explain to me this "sad on so many levels" shit... Were you really that invested in their pathetic lives?!?!

by Anonymousreply 48May 18, 2018 9:41 AM

This is very sad. They were our role models and then one murders the other and then commits suicide! Can any provide more information of how this all happened?

by Anonymousreply 49May 19, 2018 5:23 AM

When is the community memorial services planned for Rene and Benjamin?

by Anonymousreply 50May 19, 2018 8:41 PM

I doubt there will even be any public service of any kind for Benjamin after he murdered Rene. 😟

by Anonymousreply 51May 20, 2018 7:11 AM

His family is still having to morn his loss and personally live the dilema r46 mentions first hand. SAD. And there are kids involved.

by Anonymousreply 52May 20, 2018 8:26 AM

R47, You're a real delight and compassionate person. I bet You sleep Alone.

by Anonymousreply 53May 20, 2018 8:35 AM

Role models??!? You mean until the shooting and brain splattering began right? Your only role model should be your self and certain,t not a pair of narcissistic, vacuous, elderly sex freaks.

by Anonymousreply 54May 20, 2018 12:37 PM

The were charming, kind and leading philanthropists in the Houston gay and straight community. The murder suicide has left many in community dumbfounded and distressed.

by Anonymousreply 55May 21, 2018 7:56 AM

Yeah r53, I'm quite hilarious to be around and nice to my fellow man. These two were pure trash, and these people on here actually extolling the "virtue" of these two have got to be trolls..and yes, I do quite enjoy sleeping alone. No one hogging the sheets, heating up the bed too much, and making fucking annoying sounds while sleeping. If you somehow think that if one doesn't sleep alone you're better than someone who does, youre a sad person. Sad just like your dead heroes.. Look at the eyes and face of the one on the right. Something is just not right with him. He "looks" like how Roseanne "acts"... SAD

by Anonymousreply 56May 21, 2018 9:57 AM

What the fuck is it to you that people are mourning r47. Stop psychotically dictating how people should feel on an anonymous chat board. You sound insane.

by Anonymousreply 57May 21, 2018 10:29 AM

Because there is NO reason to "mourn" these assholes unless you're a relative who actually liked them. I would say friend too, but I guarantee you they had no friends. Shallow fucks like these have NO friends. Insane you say? I'm not the one who filed a restraining order against my partner. I also have not shot and killed my partner, and then myself...that's psychotic!!!! Good riddance to trash like this...

by Anonymousreply 58May 21, 2018 11:51 AM

The sex parties were legendary!

by Anonymousreply 59May 25, 2018 12:24 AM

R58 Why you so angry, gurl?

by Anonymousreply 60May 25, 2018 2:14 AM

I was their friend and they were wonderful people. No one understands what happened. :(

by Anonymousreply 61May 30, 2018 4:15 AM

r61 'wonderful' might be a little off. All due respect, but there was something wrong for that to end the way it did. I'm not the unhinged poster upthread, but there was adultery, restraining orders, a severe break and two violent, terrible deaths. People are complicated, and maybe they were good at constructing the facade, but the murderer at least had a lot of dark.

by Anonymousreply 62May 30, 2018 4:37 AM

Will it be a one or two hour Dateline NBC? That fucking show put Anne Rule out of business. Anne Rule could do justice to these two beloved gay pillars of the lovely racist state of Texas. Is Ann Rule alive? Her books were the best she found out e v e r y t h i n g.

by Anonymousreply 63May 30, 2018 7:19 AM

Ann Rule is gone R63. Sadly. She was a very talented writer and you are right -- she would have done a great job with this story.

by Anonymousreply 64May 30, 2018 7:36 AM

Thanks R64. I'm truly very sad to hear that. What a talented writer and insightful human being she was. I loved getting a new Ann Rule book. She turned up on some of the crime shows for commentary. I'll miss her.

by Anonymousreply 65May 30, 2018 8:06 AM

When do we finally get to see some pictures of that hot young trade?

by Anonymousreply 66May 30, 2018 10:13 AM

Thread useless without nude photos of both so we can judge if they were hot or not.

by Anonymousreply 67May 30, 2018 10:42 AM

I want to see a Lifetime TV movie starring Matt Bomer and Nathan Lane.

by Anonymousreply 68May 30, 2018 6:31 PM

Who will direct the film?

by Anonymousreply 69May 31, 2018 3:39 AM

Joe Mantello, of course.

by Anonymousreply 70May 31, 2018 3:45 AM

^ Produced by Ryan Murphy.

by Anonymousreply 71May 31, 2018 3:47 AM

George Cukor!

by Anonymousreply 72May 31, 2018 3:48 AM

Gus Van Gogh will direct Joaquin Phoenix as the lispy one.

by Anonymousreply 73May 31, 2018 3:58 AM

Re the state of Texas: its going to go blue soon with the influx of Californians and other liberals who want a bit of breathing space

A few studies show it would go blue now if Latinos would vote (assuming they typically vote Dem). So the days of slamming Texas as redneck central are coming to an end

by Anonymousreply 74May 31, 2018 3:47 PM

Dustin Lance Black is writing the screenplay.

by Anonymousreply 75May 31, 2018 8:51 PM

Hugh Jackman is interested in playing the cosmetologist.

by Anonymousreply 76June 1, 2018 3:13 AM

Looks like this is going to be a blockbuster film!!!

by Anonymousreply 77June 2, 2018 9:10 PM

You know that James Franco is just DYING to make a movie about this.

by Anonymousreply 78June 2, 2018 9:25 PM

Franco would perfect to play the cosmetologist murderer Ben.

by Anonymousreply 79June 2, 2018 9:26 PM

R47 is some angry troll who's been trashing the place up lately. He's bitter, angry and lashes at everything.

by Anonymousreply 80June 2, 2018 9:33 PM

Will they be buried together? And I can’t wait for the Dateline episode.

by Anonymousreply 81June 2, 2018 9:44 PM

What will happen to their estate/plantation in Mexico?

by Anonymousreply 82June 2, 2018 9:59 PM

It is said to be the Versailles of Mexico. Any photos of their Mexican estate?

by Anonymousreply 83June 3, 2018 12:32 AM

Haven't we raked the bones of these two for our morbid entertainment enough already?

by Anonymousreply 84June 3, 2018 12:53 AM

Where in Mexico was their estate located?

by Anonymousreply 85June 3, 2018 8:33 AM

Such a beautiful couple. They had everything and now it's gone. Couldn't they have found a way to live in peace with each other?

by Anonymousreply 86June 4, 2018 6:25 AM

Was the estate in Mexico owned by René only?

by Anonymousreply 87June 5, 2018 4:51 AM

R85 Puerto Vallarta

by Anonymousreply 88June 6, 2018 9:09 AM

Are these two STILL dead?!?!? You'd think that being so Christ like that they would have risen by now......

by Anonymousreply 89June 6, 2018 10:33 AM

How much was owed against that $1.5 million house?

by Anonymousreply 90June 6, 2018 5:05 PM

Who were the guns registered to?

by Anonymousreply 91June 6, 2018 5:21 PM

The one on the right looked like Nancy Reagan. It’s in the eyes. Vacuous/concerned/distracted. It was a gaze she perfected to appear inscrutable.

by Anonymousreply 92June 6, 2018 9:53 PM

They had a condo in Mexco. In Puerto Vallarta.

by Anonymousreply 93June 6, 2018 11:06 PM

what kind of anti aging products did they use ?

by Anonymousreply 94June 7, 2018 12:48 AM

First Barbara Bush now them. Our hearts go out to Houston.

by Anonymousreply 95June 7, 2018 1:10 AM

Two freeze-dried freaks.

by Anonymousreply 96June 7, 2018 1:19 AM

They still dead?

by Anonymousreply 97June 7, 2018 1:58 AM

It really freaks me out how much René looked like Nancy Reagan.

by Anonymousreply 98June 7, 2018 2:55 AM

They were sex stars in Houston!

by Anonymousreply 99June 7, 2018 4:06 AM

Rene owned everything, that is why Miss Priss offed him. He only had a makeup brush to his name when he got traded in.

by Anonymousreply 100June 7, 2018 6:22 AM

Are there any photos of their estate in Mexico? Was it in René's name?

by Anonymousreply 101June 13, 2018 4:24 AM

Everything was in René's name, that's why he was murdered!

by Anonymousreply 102June 17, 2018 8:00 AM

Thread is useless without nude photos of both to determine if they were really hot.

by Anonymousreply 103June 17, 2018 9:03 AM

The police are now in custody of the sex films of them and their wild orgies at their estates in Texas and Mexico.

by Anonymousreply 104June 18, 2018 3:17 AM

Those videos must be worth a lot of money! Their sex orgies attracted some of the hottest men in Texas and Mexico!

by Anonymousreply 105June 19, 2018 6:03 AM

You people are so stupid. There were no sex orgies or films. There were no estates -- a condo in PV and a nice house on a marginal street in Houston. They had lots of friends...very few of them gay. They were not "pillars" of the gay community. As far as I know, neither one of them ever even attended a pride parade. They were mostly homebodies, but Benjamin did travel every month. Please take my word for it that he was one of the kindest, most generous people I ever knew -- but he really fucking snapped in that last month. Somehow, he was still going through the motions -- meeting with his lawyer, leasing a new place at The Hanover, but all the while slipping into despair. I never would have seen this coming. None of his friends ever would have either.

by Anonymousreply 106June 20, 2018 8:37 PM

Hard to believe these two are still dead

by Anonymousreply 107June 20, 2018 8:51 PM

An American Tragedy. Why did they really break up?

by Anonymousreply 108June 21, 2018 1:14 AM

Give it some time r107, things may change. These two were bigger than Christ...

by Anonymousreply 109June 21, 2018 7:23 AM

They will be back in the movie being made about the murders.

by Anonymousreply 110June 23, 2018 8:51 PM

[quote]Hard to believe these two are still dead

Well if I am, surely they must be.

by Anonymousreply 111June 23, 2018 9:21 PM

I don’t think Ben was one of the kindest and most generous men ever if he would murder-suicide Rene and himself in cold blood.

by Anonymousreply 112June 24, 2018 1:34 AM

Ben was leasing an apartment at The Hanover. Pretty fancy crib.

by Anonymousreply 113June 24, 2018 1:45 AM

Which was the one looked like George Michael and which one looked like the big head on the curtain in the Wizard of Oz?

by Anonymousreply 114June 24, 2018 2:17 AM

Can you imagine having to live your life with that shrill makeup queen?

by Anonymousreply 115June 26, 2018 4:25 AM

even the rich are sick of this stupid feckless cunt of a country. I'm not denying the sadness. This is sad. Sorry for whatever happened to fuck these two up so much, but this is a fucked up culture based almost entirely on bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 116June 26, 2018 4:47 AM

[quote] I don’t think Ben was one of the kindest and most generous men ever if he would murder-suicide Rene and himself in cold blood.

Even the nicest people have bitchy days.

by Anonymousreply 117June 26, 2018 5:25 AM

Take a look at The Hanover with that tired lobby and the boxy apartments. Depressing.

by Anonymousreply 118June 26, 2018 6:18 AM

The Hanover is considered on the most prestigious addresses in Texas.

by Anonymousreply 119June 26, 2018 7:10 AM

How many homes did these guys have?

by Anonymousreply 120June 27, 2018 5:36 AM

I think their Condo In PV is actually nicer than the overdone faux palace in Houston.

I remember seeing a middle aged gay couple purchase a unit there on House Hunters International like 6 years ago(I specifically remember the funicular which runs down to the pool and common areas.) I wonder if the couple was Rene and Ben? I don't think so, because they were both about the same age and level of looks, but still, what a coincidence.

I would pay $350K for that place furnished in a heartbeat.

by Anonymousreply 121June 27, 2018 12:21 PM

Their condo complex is full of homosexual men. Perfect condo location for Mexican orgies!

by Anonymousreply 122June 27, 2018 7:12 PM

The Hanover is NOT considered one of the most prestigious addresses in Houston. There are three of them in the city -- Post Oak, Montrose and Rice Village -- and they are relatively upscale but are not for the super-rich. The apartments range from $2000-$5000, but you probably could get a deal on a lease.

River Oaks, Memorial Villages, Tanglewood, West U and Southampton are the most prestigious neighborhoods in Houston.

by Anonymousreply 123June 27, 2018 7:24 PM

The Hanover was a temporary residence. He was building a huge mega mansion modeled after a German castle in Bavaria.
