First cover of the redesigned Glamour magazine: Melissa McCarthy

New slogan: "Authentic. Accessible. Relevant."

Um.

That doesn't even look like Mellisa McCarthy.

by Anonymousreply 1April 23, 2018 7:15 PM

When I think GLAMOUR, the first thing that comes to mind is Melissa McCarthy.

First Vanity Fair, now this. Are these magazines trying to go out of business as a tax write-off?

by Anonymousreply 2April 23, 2018 7:17 PM

The new Glamour editor looks a bit like Melissa McCarthy.

Anna Wintour actually hired a chubbo. I thought she didn't do that?

lol

Who the hell is that?

by Anonymousreply 4April 23, 2018 7:18 PM

This will turn out well for them!

by Anonymousreply 5April 23, 2018 7:19 PM

She looks like a weird hybrid between Sharon Stone and Dawn French.

by Anonymousreply 6April 23, 2018 7:20 PM

Have they given up on the young female demographic, then?

by Anonymousreply 7April 23, 2018 7:22 PM

It was cool they saved money by getting the new logo from a 1987 copy of Print Shop.

She’s also on the cover of AARP this month. So yes, r7, they have given up.

Well that is a giant PR disaster at R9.

Not only did she double-time Glamour with another cover, it's AARP. Nice work, new editor!

by Anonymousreply 10April 23, 2018 7:31 PM

They went overboard on the photoshop. It doesn’t even look like her.

by Anonymousreply 11April 23, 2018 7:33 PM

what kind of photoshop 4.0 disaster is that? holy shit

by Anonymousreply 12April 23, 2018 7:34 PM

This will not work.

People don't want to see themselves reflected in Glamour magazine.

They don't want "Authentic. Accessible. Relevant."

They want unattainable glamour.

by Anonymousreply 13April 23, 2018 7:35 PM

They might as well drop the pretense and just say "Authentic. Accessible. Relevant. Fat."

by Anonymousreply 14April 23, 2018 7:37 PM

Can't we just.......

by Anonymousreply 15April 23, 2018 7:40 PM

That photo looks nothing like her, or else McCarthy is having a severe allergic reaction to that spackle caked on her face. The Paula Poundstone Collection suspenders-and-button-up look doesn’t help.

by Anonymousreply 16April 23, 2018 7:41 PM

It's the best cover since this one....

by Anonymousreply 17April 23, 2018 7:50 PM

WTF. Did they use a face double??

by Anonymousreply 18April 23, 2018 7:52 PM

That looks like Kathleen Turner.

by Anonymousreply 19April 23, 2018 8:39 PM

r9 Yeah, I saw that too. I thought it was odd, because AARP usually features people who are at least old enough to be potential members (50 or over) and Melissa is only 47.

by Anonymousreply 20April 23, 2018 9:29 PM

It looks like the cover of a 90s magazine. She's in what looks like a jumper dress and has the same hair as Roz from Frasier.

I loved Roz. She was a funny lady.

by Anonymousreply 22April 23, 2018 10:16 PM

Too bad she was portrayed by such a shitty actress. It takes a special kind of talent not to get a single Emmy nomination in 11 seasons.

by Anonymousreply 23April 24, 2018 12:31 AM

R13, apparently that's not the case anymore. I think the Kardashians have a lot to do with it. These mags used to dictate to women but now it's the other way around.

by Anonymousreply 24April 24, 2018 12:39 AM

But all the Kardashians are is trash....

by Anonymousreply 25April 24, 2018 1:25 AM

R25 glamour officially died once Kendall was accepted into the fold as a supermodel. That wouldn't have happened without the blessing of Wintour and the rest of that crowd.

by Anonymousreply 26April 24, 2018 1:30 AM

R25 truth!

by Anonymousreply 27April 24, 2018 1:59 AM

I look forward to a special tri-foldout cover when it's my turn!

by Anonymousreply 29November 21, 2018 4:19 AM

Damn, magazines are dying. I still hate that INTERVIEW is gone.
