Shania Twain To Host Country Music Awards

Why would they choose her to host the Country Music Awards as she is pop singer.

by Anonymousreply 11April 23, 2018 6:51 PM

Her undying love for Trump.

by Anonymousreply 1April 23, 2018 5:27 PM

Because they've found out she loves Trump...

by Anonymousreply 2April 23, 2018 5:28 PM

But this is so fast for her to accept the gig

by Anonymousreply 3April 23, 2018 5:39 PM

Ahah this is why she confessed her love for Trump, to appease these country delorables.

by Anonymousreply 4April 23, 2018 5:43 PM

She may have calculated that the country market is more receptive to her comeback than the pop (but if so, why apologize?)

When did we start caring about Shania Twain?

by Anonymousreply 6April 23, 2018 5:46 PM

OP: Shania Twain is a country and pop singer. Her first record was more country-western but she became a "crossover" artist by the second album. It was like what Dolly Parton and Crystal Gayle did in the 1970's.

R7 why she embracing country now after turning her back on that genre to be pop singer?

by Anonymousreply 8April 23, 2018 6:16 PM

She's hosting the "Canadian Country Music Awards" which makes her statement saying she'd vote for Trump even more baffling. There aren't that many Trump fans in Ontario.

R8: I don't believe she "turned her back" on country music. She was always influenced by both country & pop music.

The Woman In Me (her second album) was still very country. I think it was her third album that was pop-oriented. Faith Hill was the same way. It was great marketing for both of them.

Even Come On Over had singles that were mixed differently for different formats, and then Up had the gimmick where the whole album was released in "country" and "pop" versions. She always tried to keep her toe in the country market.
