IS Lando Calrissian Bisexual in ‘Han Solo?”
It's been a long time coming.
C-3PO may be the most flamboyant droid in this or any galaxy near or far, far away but Star Wars has never introduced an openly non-heterosexual character on the big screen.
No wonder there is excitement over the latest Solo trailer which shows formerly shameless ladies' man Lando Calrissian "flirting" with a smiling Han Solo. He even calls him "Babe." Some fans hvae also seized on the young Lando's rather stylish and flashy wardrobe as further evidence, althoug the older Billy Dee Williams Leia-loving incarnation also had quite the flair for fashion.
Kathleen Kennedy has been promising to shake up the Star Wars universe for a while now and this would be the biggest step yet. Is Star Wars about to give fans an LGBTQXI icon?

That looks like a click bait site, OP. In the UK. Why?
And why start two back to back threads from a questionable website not in this country? Why?

Why would the hot young Han go for him?

Gurl, Billy D Williams and Harrison Ford kissing each other has got to be one of my first homo fantasies as a gayling!

Who cares? Donald Glover is no Billy Dee.

"although the older Billy Dee Williams Leia-loving incarnation also had quite the flair for fashion."
Did he? he has the one basic pants/shirt cape outfit in Empire when Solo, Chewbacca, Leia, etc arrive at Bespin. And, beyond that I really don't remember anything dramatically fashionable when he escapes Bespin in the Millennium Falcon and therafter. And in Jedi too, he's just in normal clothes. What am I forgetting?
Who IS Star Wars' resident fashionista.

r9 no charisma though. Billy Dee Williams was more charismatic, IMHO

I can't see it going beyond a bromance sort of thing. The sort of 80 / early 90s buddy (cop) movies where two totally different guys form a bond and alliance over a common enemy or threat and work together to defeat the villain.

R12, the fashion QUEEN of the Star Wars universe is obviously Queen Senator Padme Amidala of Naboo!
Nobody else comes close, even her daughter Leia favors simple elegance, and Rey probably doesn't even know what dresses are. Lando doesn't wear anything elaborate, but he has style! You just know that a man who knows how to dramatically swirl a capelet can carry off anything!

So people in the 80s got gorgeous Billy Dee Williams and we get fugly Childish Gamino? How is that fair?

How is wardrobe evidence of someone's sexuality? Stereotyping much?

Fashion in the Star WArs universe went to hell after the Republic collapsed. In the prequels important people wore elaborate colorful robes and accessorized well, but once the Empire came in nobody wore anything but baggy neutrals, and that's carried over to the new films. Okay, I accept that a bunch of scavengers and rebels aren't going to have much of a wardrobe budget, but couldn't the rich bastards on the casino planet at least wear some color?
Lando may have been the best-dressed character in the original trilogy, he's the only one who wore any color, or had any flair for accessorizing.

R24 Are you saying that Lando could be queer because he's the most fashionable?

I doubt they would make a non-white person gay because of blowback from the particular minority group chosen. In fact, I predict the first gay character will be some kind of non-human CGI creature. There'll probably be asexual (self-reproducing) and pansexual creatures too.

Wardrobe flair has nothing to do with sexual orientation, R26!
Okay, maybe it does, but it's not a 1:1 correlation. There are a few straight men with style, Lando could be one of them.

r21 I don't know, because Hollywood seems to be unable to find anybody. Charismatic male actors are just gone now. So now I guess it's nerd casting.
I think Glover's handsome, but I'd rather have an uglier actor with more personality.

And young men no longer aspire to be sophisticated, stylish, and sexy.
They all want to be yuppie sharks, or gamer geeks, or wannabe thugs or something other than a slick bastard who knows how to shower someone with charm and hand kisses the first time they meet! Nobody wants to be the next Billy Dee, and wouldn't trying to find yourself a man be more fun if every guy had a bit of Lando in him?
And the glimpses I've had of the "new Lando" in the trailers lack everything that made him such an ol' smoothie.

Of course they're not going to make Lando bi. It's all just a tease. They wouldn't even make new original characters like Poe or Finn gay/bi.

Jonathan Kasdan – who wrote the film with his father Lawrence – agreed with The Huffington Post when asked if he thought Lando was pansexual.
I would say yes. There’s a fluidity to Donald and Billy Dee’s [portrayal of Lando’s] sexuality. I mean, I would have loved to have gotten a more explicitly LGBT character into this movie. I think it’s time, certainly, for that, and I love the fluidity ― sort of the spectrum of sexuality that Donald appeals to and that droids are a part of.
He doesn’t make any hard and fast rules. I think it’s fun. I don’t know where it will go. His father was more guarded, saying “maybe it means something, maybe it doesn’t.”
