I'm going to bump this thread to say that the men who come out and instantly turn fem were fem all along but repressed it. There are plenty of masculine gays who come out and then continue being themselves. I personally was one of the "overnight" fems. I was feminine ever since I was a child, but I repressed it until I came out and became my most natural self again. I truly do not believe these guys are acting a way they "think" they have to act, they're acting the way they truly are but hid for so long.

I need to know the context of these pictures. I don't think Frank Ocean was ever some hyper masculine dude though. He still doesn't seem 'femme' to me either (even after seeing your photos). He just looks like a dude wearing makeup and tight pants. He doesn't look like Jeffree Star or James Charles.

What do you mean by "fem"? Do you mean using lots of queenly slang, wearing outrageous clothes and camping it up? Or do you mean taking on a natural, unaffected "gay accent", gay gestures and cookie-smelling look that we all use as gaydar clues? The former is overreaction to being free to express his sexuality. It will probably fade over time. The latter means that he's been working really hard not to seem gay to anyone, and now he's stopped trying to pass. That is, if the change happened overnight.

If instead the change happens over time, it's because a lot of men who come out and immerse themselves in the gay community eventually take on some of the accent, gestures and look simply because that's what their friends do and that's what their exposed to.

It is not a common phenomenon at all, and what does it matter if a guy swishes it up after coming out? Maybe they want to stop passing so prospective partners know they're gay. Maybe they're not as hung up on what others might think of them as OP seems to be.
