He didn't last the full run of "Grace Under Fire." They did a Darren/Becky sitcom switch for the last 2 seasons. Brett Butler's bad behavior supposedly led to his being forced by his parents to quit the show, but it did not result in cancellation.

Grace Under Fire was never the same after him and Julie White left the show. I quit watching not long after they were both gone.
