Re Obama surrounding himself with yes men...I only know about the sector I work in, but in this sector it’s true. It was frustrating during the Obama era (and I mostly liked Obama—a lot—as a president and voted for him twice and then for Clinton) working with his administration. There were a lot of very wealthy elite Millennials working for him, almost all of whom went to elite universities, and they would just invent campaigns about any given issue without putting much thought into them and ram them down people’s throats. Many were pet causes or brainstorms of some of the admin’s “star” Millennials, and those Millennials now call themselves “Obama alums.” Al that I know of are yes men and women and also generators of hollow campaigns who worshipped Obama as some sort of second coming and then having done so would be given carte blanche to invent campaigns and then bail out on them. A lot of what came from that White House was well meaning, but actually the brainchildren of wealthy and out of touch Millennials whose jobs were procured through favors to their parents. It’s the first administration I ever worked with and it was disconcerting. That said, all those people had good intentions and really supported the country and its people, and I am not comparing them to the terrifying nation-destroying Trump admin. But Obama did have a lot of foolhardy, naive yes-Millennials working for him. That is true. Basically Jared Kushner’s brother instead of Jared Kushner. Rich, mostly white, undeservingly Ivy League educated young people with connected parents who brought Millennial entitlement and unearned confidence with them and who were given freedom and money to implement their brainstorms, however brilliant or not.

But this is not atypical for administrations, Democratic or Republican. It's the nature of the beast in D.C.

But as Sunny pointed out, he put Clinton as his SOS. Clinton was rougher on him than any other candidate in 2008. Biden also didn't hide his feelings when he disagreed with Obama on something. He publicly contradicted him on several issues. Could you picture Pence doing that to Trump?

Every President has yes men and sycophants surrounding them. But I don't recall unwavering loyalty being such a requirement before this one took office.

I've never watched the View and only keep up on these threads occasionally. Is there any chance that McCain is hammered during her tirades? I didn't know she was the "party girl" type or glorifies her alcohol consumption on social media. It's the sort of thing that I would expect of a young twenty-something, not a nationally known 30 something media figure and daughter of a Senator. R344 I think It's common knowledge now that both Joy's and Elisabeth Hasselbeck's contracts weren't renewed (which is how you say fired in TV speak) because ABC wanted to take The View in a more pop culture and less political direction. At the time The View's ratings were starting to slide, and The Talk was creeping up on them in the ratings. ABC likely thought by dealing more with celebrities and reality shows over politics that it would boost the ratings. Joy and Elisabeth were the most political of the co-hosts (Elisabeth was also the least popular) so it was decided to axe them. Allegedly Babs fought hard for Elisabeth but not for Joy and it was Babs who got Elisabeth the job at Fox.

As for Sara and her husband, I'm turned off learning that he's Trump supporter and seemingly a right wing nut. Sara isn't as liberal as see appears on the show though, she herself has admitted that she's more of a moderate liberal even perhaps a centrist. God, you can say that again. I DVRed and watched the Stormy Daniels episode. I haven't watched the View in over 15 years and don't remember it being so stilted. It was cringeworthy to watch the"banter" and the hostesses continuously looking down at their notes and crib sheets. Will one of the co-hosts ever have the balls to ask her why her father has refused to resign from the Senate? Is the plan for a family member to replace him when he passes? Now that the promotion cycle for her Trump book is over, Joy may be bored. She’s smart enough to realize that Megan is too far gone and can never be reasoned with and that the thought of weeks and weeks of daily fights with her is depressing.

R598, she seems to be a full-time homemaker at this point in life. Her husband is an analyst for ESPN and they both grew up in RI and MA respectively.

I know they sold their house in CT for 6M and the house they bought in TENN was of comparable size and only cost them 2+M. Maybe with only one paycheck, they felt they should relocate to an area with a much lower cost of living.
