Neither Pamela Mountbatten nor her sister were "grand". They were surprisingly down to earth considering their ambitious father and extremely wealthy mother. Hicks would have had sex with his wife at least three times to have three children, but even calling him "bisexual" would be a stretch. Hicks' homosexuality was well known in London society and the first time Princess Margaret saw Pamela after the engagement was announced, Margaret ran up to her and pounded on Pamela's chest saying, "No, no, no.
