Agree, his failed presidency is sad with many side effects.

Hindsight is 20/20. Because we have Obamacare people forget how bad life was before it. Virtually no one my age ever had it even though we are prone to accidents. Now we can stay on a parents plan until 26. If you got cancer ever, say goodbye to insurance for the rest of your life because no one has to do it. Born with a congenital illness? same thing. Now that most of the shittiest parts of our heathcare system is patched its easy to attack just the pieces that still don't work well. And Obama gave us DACA and DAPA, much more for immigration than any other president in my lifetime
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 15, 2018 3:33 PM |
Exactly R3. And Obama was a thousand times better than Bush and we currently have now.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 15, 2018 3:33 PM |
Passing healthcare reform was the hardest issue for him to tackle. That is why he tackled it.
He felt if he couldn't use his momentous win to finally get America to update its healthcare system, it would never happen.

by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 15, 2018 3:40 PM |
What a load of revisionist horseshit. There was "bipartisan support" for healthcare reform as well, it's just that the GOP was not going to agree to anything the Dems wanted--even when the ACA was modeled on Romneycare and the old GOP plan from the 90s. The SAME THING would have happened to immigration reform. The GOP was fine with Dreamers, amnesty and a guest worker program (see the 1986 law and Bush II's proposals) until Obama started talking about them. WTF does this writer think Obama or any Dem could have proposed in the way of immigration reform that the GOP in 2009/2010 would have gone along with?
The GOP version of bipartisan support is they get what they want, no matter who has the Presidency and who controls Congress. How the fuck can anyone listen to anything Mitch McConnell has said in the last 20 years and not realize this is beyond me.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 15, 2018 3:43 PM |
If I remember correctly, there was a perfectly good immigration bill that had passed the Senate and that Obama would have signed, but John Boehner refused to bring it up for a vote in the House, because he knew it would pass and he didn't want it to.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 15, 2018 3:43 PM |
Too bad Obama's healthcare reform bill was written by and for the health insurance companies.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 15, 2018 3:44 PM |
R15, that bill was in 2014 and was a huge concession to the GOP--a huge increase in border security was the crux of it--and it still was a no-go for the Tea Party assholes. Boehner was a fucking coward who wouldn't stand up to them.
R16, yes because the GOP and the Blue Dog Dems would not permit anything that would undermine healthcare as a for-profit industry. So to make the ACA work, they had to buy in.

Stop blaming Obama and Democrats for the unprincipled obstructionism of Republicans. They never would have voted for it, even if they supported it, because they refused to give the black guy a 'win'.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 15, 2018 4:06 PM |
Let’s see 20 million Americans gained healthcare through The Affordable Healthcare Act. People with pre existing conditions can now get healthcare coverage, thanks to that legislation. Many many lives have been saved because The Affordable Healthcare Act. 20 million verses the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants. President Obama is a brilliant man and he prioritized correctly. As has already been pointed out. This is some revisionist nonsense.
During his first term President Obama rescued the economy and granted healthcare coverage to millions, in addition to a long list of other achievements. And what has the current administration done? Permanent tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires and corporations. Making America an international punchline.

The senate passed a bill favoring immigration reform (pathway) the House led by republicans refused to even consider the bill. How's that Obama's fault?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 17, 2018 4:10 AM |
Let's face it. Racists will always find some way to justify their racist impulse... if non-white immigrants have good jobs, they say they are taking jobs away from whites. If they don't have jobs, they say they are leeching off the whites. In the end, to them, only whites are or can become real Americans and everyone else is just causing problems for real Americans. That is the gist of Trump's racist rant.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 17, 2018 4:42 AM |

That is some pure bullshit. The republicans had 8 yrs to do something about immigration when GWB was in office. They controlled the house and the senate during most of Obama's 2 terms. They didn't do a damned thing because they didn't want to do a damned thing

Carribbean blacks hate American (African-American) blacks. The Carribbean blacks are hard workers and think the American blacks are lazy. That's why you see a lot of Carribbeans working in hospitals. They work hard for the money!

Thanks for the silly generalization.
And please do keep in mind that Caribbean immigrants, and all nonwhites are benefiting from the blood, sweat and tears of black Americans and their hard fought battle for justice and equality. A battle that continues today.
Perhaps you didn't notice what many of them think of whites. Whom they and many other immigrants find to be lazy and demonic.

On the other hand, both sides have an incentive. NOT to solve this problem. They fund raise millions on the matter. And it’s non-voters that are screwed, in particular, so every body likes to talk about it, but not solve it.
