Obama Failed Immigrants

[quote]The single biggest blunder of Obama's presidency was his decision to prioritize a makeover of America's health-care system over an immigration overhaul. Obama's health-care plan had zero bipartisan support, while reworking immigration had considerable enthusiasm on both sides of the aisle. By choosing health care, Obama rendered both programs politically vulnerable.

Agree, his failed presidency is sad with many side effects.

by Anonymousreply 1January 15, 2018 3:28 PM

Tha and HIllary's emails!

Benghazi!

by Anonymousreply 2January 15, 2018 3:29 PM

I thought the single biggest blunder was healthcare before jobs??? Besides, McConnell said not supporting him so how could he have bipartisan support for anything? Make up your mind, people!!!

by Anonymousreply 3January 15, 2018 3:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 4January 15, 2018 3:31 PM

0/10 troll. We get it, you're secretly racist, but can't come out and say it, so be an I Hate Obama troll instead.

Next.

by Anonymousreply 5January 15, 2018 3:31 PM

Hindsight is 20/20. Because we have Obamacare people forget how bad life was before it. Virtually no one my age ever had it even though we are prone to accidents. Now we can stay on a parents plan until 26. If you got cancer ever, say goodbye to insurance for the rest of your life because no one has to do it. Born with a congenital illness? same thing. Now that most of the shittiest parts of our heathcare system is patched its easy to attack just the pieces that still don't work well. And Obama gave us DACA and DAPA, much more for immigration than any other president in my lifetime

by Anonymousreply 6January 15, 2018 3:33 PM

Exactly R3. And Obama was a thousand times better than Bush and we currently have now.

by Anonymousreply 7January 15, 2018 3:33 PM

Passing healthcare reform was the hardest issue for him to tackle. That is why he tackled it.

He felt if he couldn't use his momentous win to finally get America to update its healthcare system, it would never happen.

by Anonymousreply 8January 15, 2018 3:34 PM

[quote] And Obama was a thousand times better than Bush and we currently have now.

Sadly, it's the complete opposite.

by Anonymousreply 9January 15, 2018 3:36 PM

Sadly, you're wrong, R9.

by Anonymousreply 10January 15, 2018 3:39 PM

Go to bed Svetlana R9

by Anonymousreply 11January 15, 2018 3:40 PM

Just FF/ignore and move on r10. Why even bother to feed the troll.

by Anonymousreply 12January 15, 2018 3:40 PM

R9 You are out of your mind. A potted plant would be better than Trump and Bush phony "WMD" manipulation led to massive debt and ISIS.

by Anonymousreply 13January 15, 2018 3:40 PM

What a load of revisionist horseshit. There was "bipartisan support" for healthcare reform as well, it's just that the GOP was not going to agree to anything the Dems wanted--even when the ACA was modeled on Romneycare and the old GOP plan from the 90s. The SAME THING would have happened to immigration reform. The GOP was fine with Dreamers, amnesty and a guest worker program (see the 1986 law and Bush II's proposals) until Obama started talking about them. WTF does this writer think Obama or any Dem could have proposed in the way of immigration reform that the GOP in 2009/2010 would have gone along with?

The GOP version of bipartisan support is they get what they want, no matter who has the Presidency and who controls Congress. How the fuck can anyone listen to anything Mitch McConnell has said in the last 20 years and not realize this is beyond me.

by Anonymousreply 14January 15, 2018 3:43 PM

If I remember correctly, there was a perfectly good immigration bill that had passed the Senate and that Obama would have signed, but John Boehner refused to bring it up for a vote in the House, because he knew it would pass and he didn't want it to.

by Anonymousreply 15January 15, 2018 3:43 PM

Too bad Obama's healthcare reform bill was written by and for the health insurance companies.

by Anonymousreply 16January 15, 2018 3:44 PM

R15, that bill was in 2014 and was a huge concession to the GOP--a huge increase in border security was the crux of it--and it still was a no-go for the Tea Party assholes. Boehner was a fucking coward who wouldn't stand up to them.

R16, yes because the GOP and the Blue Dog Dems would not permit anything that would undermine healthcare as a for-profit industry. So to make the ACA work, they had to buy in.

by Anonymousreply 17January 15, 2018 3:50 PM

Obama, trickster throwing shit to the lefties so they salivate over him. Meanwhile, he is shuttling in the Muslims so they Dan destroy the great United States of America.

by Anonymousreply 18January 15, 2018 3:50 PM

I loved, loved, loved, loved Obama.

by Anonymousreply 19January 15, 2018 3:51 PM

Stop blaming Obama and Democrats for the unprincipled obstructionism of Republicans. They never would have voted for it, even if they supported it, because they refused to give the black guy a 'win'.

Fuck you all.

Obama didn't fail anyone. Republicans have failed us all, in innumerable ways. Focus your ire and frustration on the REAL source please.

by Anonymousreply 20January 15, 2018 3:51 PM

OP, you are a failure as a human being. Now go away.

by Anonymousreply 21January 15, 2018 3:52 PM

After his second term anyone who still likes Obama is either a retard of a Muslim. Maybe both.

by Anonymousreply 22January 15, 2018 3:55 PM

No, R22. Anyone that hates him is either a retard or a racist right-wing asshat.

There, fixed it for you.

by Anonymousreply 23January 15, 2018 4:00 PM

You can tell R22 is an extreme racist, but is too much of a weak idiot to come right out and say it.

by Anonymousreply 24January 15, 2018 4:06 PM

Let’s see 20 million Americans gained healthcare through The Affordable Healthcare Act. People with pre existing conditions can now get healthcare coverage, thanks to that legislation. Many many lives have been saved because The Affordable Healthcare Act. 20 million verses the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants. President Obama is a brilliant man and he prioritized correctly. As has already been pointed out. This is some revisionist nonsense.

During his first term President Obama rescued the economy and granted healthcare coverage to millions, in addition to a long list of other achievements. And what has the current administration done? Permanent tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires and corporations. Making America an international punchline.

Obama didn't author the ACA.

by Anonymousreply 26January 15, 2018 4:10 PM

Gee, thanks R26. Perhaps you could take your pedantry, which is useless here, and go educate the GOP stooges who call it Obamacare.

by Anonymousreply 27January 15, 2018 4:15 PM

R23 fuck you you pathetic retard, just because someone does not lijevtge pretend presidenf who lives his Muslims and socialism does not mean tgey are ravist.

by Anonymousreply 28January 17, 2018 2:48 AM

Putting his presidency on the line for immigrants would have been a mistaken priority and would not have gone well.

by Anonymousreply 29January 17, 2018 2:52 AM

He failed more than immigrants.

by Anonymousreply 30January 17, 2018 2:57 AM

I disagree.

I care more about healthcare which affects every American.

Immigration issues affect fewer Americans.

by Anonymousreply 31January 17, 2018 2:58 AM

Обама - антихрист! Я глупый русский. Пожалуйста, дерьмо мне в рот.

by Anonymousreply 32January 17, 2018 3:04 AM

The left is too identified with immigrants. Not buying a government shutdown for DACA - bad move.

by Anonymousreply 33January 17, 2018 3:07 AM

Healthcare is way more important than immigration reform.

by Anonymousreply 34January 17, 2018 3:12 AM

total bullshit op, the rethugs were in complete opposition to everything O tried to do, they swore to make him a one term prez.

there was no bipartisan support for anything he tried to do.

by Anonymousreply 35January 17, 2018 3:21 AM

Oh please, there is nothing Obama did that Trumpie/GOP won't try to destroy or disrupt. Put the blame where the blame lies... racist and elitist whites in the government.

by Anonymousreply 36January 17, 2018 3:24 AM

R28 what language is that?

by Anonymousreply 37January 17, 2018 3:37 AM

Sort of agree w 33. But dont want to see ICE haul.kids out of schools

Frankly I think H1B visas hurt the middle class the most.... and lowers salaries for engineers. Can we pass DACA and revisit H1Bs??

by Anonymousreply 38January 17, 2018 3:57 AM

H1B needs a total overhaul, it's been egregiously abused for many years.

by Anonymousreply 39January 17, 2018 4:09 AM

The senate passed a bill favoring immigration reform (pathway) the House led by republicans refused to even consider the bill. How's that Obama's fault?

by Anonymousreply 40January 17, 2018 4:10 AM

Let's face it. Racists will always find some way to justify their racist impulse... if non-white immigrants have good jobs, they say they are taking jobs away from whites. If they don't have jobs, they say they are leeching off the whites. In the end, to them, only whites are or can become real Americans and everyone else is just causing problems for real Americans. That is the gist of Trump's racist rant.

by Anonymousreply 41January 17, 2018 4:42 AM

Are u Fucking kidding? We should have put immigrants before our own issues? Wtf.

And Trump did better among hispanics than Romney who actively courted them. No joke. It's gross.

by Anonymousreply 42January 17, 2018 6:48 AM

[quote] Obama's health-care plan had zero bipartisan support, while reworking immigration had considerable enthusiasm on both sides of the aisl

That is some pure bullshit. The republicans had 8 yrs to do something about immigration when GWB was in office. They controlled the house and the senate during most of Obama's 2 terms. They didn't do a damned thing because they didn't want to do a damned thing

by Anonymousreply 43January 17, 2018 7:07 AM

BOTH were bad on immigration, R43. That's why Trump got elected.

by Anonymousreply 44January 17, 2018 12:28 PM

[quote]And Trump did better among hispanics than Romney who actively courted them. No joke. It's gross.

White Latinos - the ones who are of 100% European Spanish stock - are the biggest racists you'll ever meet. They hate the mixed/Mestizo Latinos.

by Anonymousreply 45January 17, 2018 12:31 PM

[quote]White Latinos - the ones who are of 100% European Spanish stock - are the biggest racists you'll ever meet. They hate the mixed/Mestizo Latinos.

Carribbean blacks hate American (African-American) blacks. The Carribbean blacks are hard workers and think the American blacks are lazy. That's why you see a lot of Carribbeans working in hospitals. They work hard for the money!

by Anonymousreply 46January 17, 2018 12:40 PM

OMG don't get Caribbean blacks or African blacks started on African-Americans! They say all the same things that racist white people say about them. African blacks especially have no use for them.

by Anonymousreply 47January 17, 2018 1:29 PM

I have noticed this as well, r47

An old boss was a black woman from Birmingham .. "England" as she was quick to point out .. and she even resented being called an "African-American."

by Anonymousreply 48January 17, 2018 1:31 PM

I eat piles and piles and PILES of shit!

by Anonymousreply 49January 17, 2018 1:31 PM

[quote] Carribbean blacks hate American (African-American) blacks. The Carribbean blacks are hard workers and think the American blacks are lazy. That's why you see a lot of Carribbeans working in hospitals. They work hard for the money!

Thanks for the silly generalization.

And please do keep in mind that Caribbean immigrants, and all nonwhites are benefiting from the blood, sweat and tears of black Americans and their hard fought battle for justice and equality. A battle that continues today.

Perhaps you didn't notice what many of them think of whites. Whom they and many other immigrants find to be lazy and demonic.

by Anonymousreply 50January 17, 2018 1:35 PM

All of the African immigrants I've known prefer to live amongst and socialize with white people.

by Anonymousreply 51January 17, 2018 2:19 PM

On the other hand, both sides have an incentive. NOT to solve this problem. They fund raise millions on the matter. And it’s non-voters that are screwed, in particular, so every body likes to talk about it, but not solve it.

by Anonymousreply 52January 17, 2018 8:52 PM

We got change. We used to have dollars.

by Anonymousreply 53January 17, 2018 8:55 PM

[quote]The left is too identified with immigrants. Not buying a government shutdown for DACA - bad move.

Yeah, the government's about to be shut down by the Tea Party caucus in the House. Keep trying the feeble blame deflection though.

[quote]We got change. We used to have dollars.

And now your have rubles. Weird, huh?

by Anonymousreply 54January 17, 2018 9:06 PM

I'm still on the fence about Bitcoin, honestly.

by Anonymousreply 55January 17, 2018 9:09 PM

Fun fact:Pres. Obama had a higher rate of deportation than his predecessors.

by Anonymousreply 56January 17, 2018 9:12 PM

Could you cite that, please, R56?

by Anonymousreply 57January 17, 2018 9:29 PM

And you think that is good or bad, R46?

by Anonymousreply 58January 18, 2018 2:27 AM

Obama failed everything. Except giving shit to and trolling Muslims. All along, his only true agenda...everythjng he did trying to act benevolent was to help the goat people. Fixed that for you.

by Anonymousreply 59January 18, 2018 3:30 PM

Obama was a butt boy for the 1%, not Muslims.

by Anonymousreply 60January 19, 2018 5:36 PM

But no caravans during his term.
