Momentum stalwarts cement Corbyn's power base
Eddie Izzard fails to get elected to Labour's guiding committee

Eddie is a heterosexual autogynophile, R1.

I don't hate him but he would make a terrible politician. I've seen him in interviews where he's supposed to, say, relate a Monty Python routine he liked, or talk about a movie that influenced him, and he can't get even the basic facts right. It's like he has no ability to remember things

You proved R1's point.

And Glenda is actually a woman despite being the more butch of the two by far.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 15, 2018 1:48 PM |
Every time I've seen him speak about politics it's been so awful and embarrassing. He has no idea for any policies - in one interview he dismissed that as stuff that he'd come up with when in office. He's very much the New Labour model of being about image over substance, and expected celebrity to be enough to win him votes. The few times he actually talked about issues - such as during the Brexit campaign - he was an utter disaster and turned off more people than he appealed to. I hope this kills his parliamentary ambitions.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 15, 2018 2:45 PM |
He's like so many old comedians-- someone who stopped being funny years ago and now bores people trying to explain why comedy is funny. I remember the first time I heard someone described that way. It was Sid Caesar, who was funny in his time and then spent the next 40 years on the lecture circuit talking about comedy, over-thinking it, over-explaining it and making what was once funny a chore to sit through.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 15, 2018 3:32 PM |
He was born in Yemen. Does that disqualify him?

I remember reading a TV Guide article in the early 1980s where he hated every new sitcom except [italic]Newhart[/italic], even [italic]Cheers[/italic] where he turned down the role of Coach.

Those that won are far-far-far-left communists. I'm not even kidding. They actually came out in favour of communism. Labour is in shambles. Fucking frightening. Corbyn is a whack job. Theresa May is incompetent. Tranny Eddie who knows nothing running. Boris Johnson probably becoming the next PM... Nigel Farage... Sadiq Khan... the entire country is a freak show. The US has Trump, that's bad enough, but Britain is also a shit show and in many ways in way worse shape. Trump at least has term limits. Britain is head-to-toe shit when it comes to its government... pedophiles everywhere to boot. It's insane. Brexit is also permanent, and we all know whatever the outcome, it'll be massively fucked up.

R13 is correct. The UK Labour Party has been taken over by Momentum, a Trotskyist cult that rose from the ashes of the Socialist Workers Party, which was itself a terrifying cult in which women members were raped by the leader repeatedly, much like any other cult. Eddie isn't affiliated with them, so that's why he was blocked. They are currently installing their apparatchiks in every significant position within the party, and purging those who oppose them.
Their strategy for doing this is quite simple: entryism. They join local CLP branches, form blocs and then vote their ticket into positions of authority, and bully anyone who stands up to them until they resign in fear and/or disgust. They then have control of that entire branch. The 19-year-old MTT who was recently elected a Labour 'women's' officer ran on a Momentum ticket. He got the position after he and his buddies bullied a long-standing lesbian member out of the branch, and the rest of the executive resigned in disgust at her treatment and the failure of the Labour higher-ups to reign in such behaviour by Momentum members.
Probably the only thing to do at this point is for the non-crazy Labour people to form a new party. It's tragic because the Tories (particularly this incarnation of them) are fucking heartless, incompetent public school goons who are driving Britain over a cliff economically. In short, the UK appears to be fucked.

Momentum have even drawn up a 'loyalty oath' in which aspiring Labour candidates are commanded to sign a contract declaring their obeisance to the Dear Leader and all his works, in order to gain preselection.
[quote] One Labour MP, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “It reflects a Stalinist approach to politics that Momentum would come up with such a contract for candidates. It has worrying implications for our democracy that there could be MPs in parliament who have signed away their right to independent judgment,” he said.

(R13) you do realise that Momentum had a battle on kicking out the Trots? Momentum is not Trotskyist.
Momentum is old fashioned 'Democratic Socialism' (look it up), an ideology which bought you the Welfare State, which no doubt you've used and have taken for granted and which the Tories are now trying to demolish.
It does irritate me when people proclaim their love for the NHS but follow the MSM narrative that is teaching everyone to hate the very ideology that brought about the NHS in the first place.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 17, 2018 11:14 AM |
R19 The mad Momentum Trotskyites are making the Labour Party unelectable.
One of their stars was 25 year old Jared O’Mara who described himself as a “Dirty perv who dreams of bumming birds”, and posted “I just wanna get drunk and chase some skirt” and joins in with other users leering at photos of naked women."
He demanded that “any girl that would like to make whopee with me must be passionate about charity and the fight against social injustice”.

Ah... The fools who bleat 'communists!' with a protective hand resting on their shoulder belonging to Fox News (or any right wing news source).
Corbyn is a Democratic Socialist. When you look up the definition you'll realise that it's a hardly a radical ideology.
He does not want to incite a workers revolution.. He does not want to overthrow the Ruling Class. He wants to maintain the status quo - thank you very much.
You're free to move to the United States where if you're a hospital patient who's run out of money you're emptied onto the street like garbage.
That's the politics we are supposed to be chasing after isn't it?

by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 17, 2018 1:07 PM |
I can't help but wonder if Russia/Putin are behind Momentum's rise and infiltration of the Labour party. They are making Labour unelectable when a centrist Labour government is what the UK needs right now, allowing the Conservatives to maintain power when the majority of the UK public hate them.
I know the above sounds a bit nuts, but I'm not putting anything past Putin at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 17, 2018 1:17 PM |
I love Corbyn. He wants to save our NHS whilst the Tories have already killed 120,000 people through austerity and sold donated NHS blood to a private company.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 17, 2018 1:23 PM |
R19, where in my post did I state I was against the NHS and the welfare state? I actually want to save them from the Tories, which is why we need a competent Labour opposition.
Both Momentum's rhetoric and its methods are clearly Authoritarian Left, and many of its most influential members are former SWP. Those of us who have studied history and know what happens when Leftist principles meet authoritarianism rightly fear this development, and that doesn't make us Tories.

r31 No One is denying the Tories are terrible. But last June Labour lost to a party led by a robot running on a platform of euthanizing the elderly and Fox hunting.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 17, 2018 3:19 PM |
R35 I feel really depressed these days, it's not just my own life, but thinking about the direction this country is heading. I'm not British, but I feel your pain about the Tories. We have a right wing government right now and they represent everything I'm against. I get so angry and frustrated just thinking about them. They do not represent Norwegian values, they don't realize what makes this country so great, they want to destroy everything Labour has accomplished. When they're done there will be nothing left, I won't even recognize my own country. Just thinking about the future makes me sad.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 17, 2018 3:31 PM |
Why is there a right wing government in Norway? Is it due to immigration?

R20 Yes the "unelectable" Corbyn increased the Labour vote by 10% over that managed by "electable" centrists Miliband (2015) and Brown (2010).
I have to say the red-baiting Neo-McCarthism is amusing for what it's worth. Corbyn's politics is somewhere between Bernie Sanders and Scandinavian social democracy. Although those who fap all day long to Fox News probably fail to understand such political nuance.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 17, 2018 4:31 PM |
r40 Please don't compare Scandinavia to incompetent Corbyn and Sanders.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 17, 2018 5:11 PM |
R37, I'll try to answer. Right-wing parties gained popularity recently (all over the developed world, incl. Norway) among blue-collar workers because of some negative effects of the preceding Globalist policies. Globalism resulted in: lots of immigrants from the developing world (who are willing to work for lower pay, thus undercutting domestic workers), and companies outsourcing jobs to very low-wage countries (China). Globalism basically screwed over many blue-collars - and out of anger and desperation they turned to right-wing politics, hoping it will protect them and save their jobs. Nationalism is essentially the other side of anti-Globalism.

lmao. Corbyn is in bed with Muslim terrorists and is a commie through and through and is now loving his newfound celebrity. He's a piece of rat shit. Don't you dare compare that madman to Sanders or a Scandinavian country. Corbyn's antisemitism and communist blathering speaks for itself. He's a crooked asshole.

The political spectrum is not linear, but circular. At this point, Labour, the Tories, UKIP and the BNP are all authoritarian, reactionary and bigoted. The only difference between them is the targets of their bigotry. And sometimes not even that.
