In a landmark ruling, court rules that North Carolina congressional districts have too much partisan gerrymandering

Normally they rule this way for racial bias, but partisan bias is allowed.

[quote]A panel of federal judges struck down North Carolina’s congressional map on Tuesday, declaring it unconstitutionally gerrymandered and demanding that the Republican-controlled General Assembly redraw district lines before this year’s midterm elections. The ruling was the first time that a federal court had blocked a congressional map because the judges believed it to be a partisan gerrymander, and it deepened the political chaos that has enveloped North Carolina in recent years.

North Carolina sends 13 congressman to DC, even though it is a purple state it is split 10 Republicans and 3 democrats.

They have to use new maps for this years election, this is big.

It's really big, especially since it sets the precedent for other decisions across the country. Gerrymandering is what Obama and Eric Holder, etc. have been concentrating on since they left Washington. Woohoo.

What's the next way the Repugs will try to cheat? They should open a betting pool in Las Vegas on it because you know it will be something.

There may be hope for NC yet.

Good news.

Spiked the ball too soon.

The Supreme Court halted an order Thursday that instructed Republicans to redraw district lines in North Carolina so the party would no longer have an edge in various elections.

Two justices, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, dissented in the Supreme Court ruling.

If the Supreme Court would rule that all laws passed during a gerrymandered session were null and void, both sides would stop gerrymandering.

You can have our gerrymandered districts when you pry them from our cold dead fingers!
