They are constantly talking about eating “clean,” and evaluating whether specific conduct helps with their aesthetic “goals.” They critique their own bods, and admire dudes with ideal swole bods as “gymspiration.”

Anyone can get into it at any age. When guys I know start taking the testosterone and other steroids I try to gently and carefully warn them of what they are doing. Hopefully it does not last for long. I have a good friend who along with his spouse now post pics of themselves on FB. They are in their early 50s. Both are extremely nice guys but I think they are sort of making fools of themselves and perhaps even hurting their careers, one in particular. I feel badly for them. One of my X’s got into it about 20 years ago and now in his early 60s has had back and hip surgery- all as a result of steroids and the side effects. Don’t do it- work out and exercise for life but don’t get carried away with the enhancers.

People showing off their muscles on social media or in bodybuilding is no different from people who show off their beautiful voices or their acting skills. People love a beautiful voice so there are people who work on theirvoices to give the best of them to an audience that wants to listen to them.

It is the same with people showing off their muscles. There are people who love muscles and there are people willing to show off to impress them so they work on their bodies to give poeple what they are looking for. Both sides satisfy their needs.

I think for at least 20% of them, it's about money. Meeting clients who'll fly them places so they can travel, show off their travels, and earn money getting blown.
