Thomas Frank Interviews Donna Brazile About Her New Book

. . . her book reveals an arrangement between the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC that effectively gave the campaign control over the party apparatus well before Clinton became the party’s official presidential nominee in 2016. Brazile has given serious substantiation, in other words, to the charge that Sanders and his followers threw at the Democratic party through much of last year: that the process was rigged.

Members of the punditburo blasted Sanders last year for suggesting such a thing; now they are blasting Brazile for confirming it. They vituperate even though what she and Sanders have said is, well, true.

Waiting for heads to explode.

Excuse me, but maybe I'm too dumb to understand or too naive, but......

Why the FUCK would the Democrats want to see anybody but a Democrat as the DEMOCRATIC candidate for president?????????

Sanders is a god-damned Independent!!!! He had no business trying to shove his way into the party. Fuck him with a million rusty knives.

I think millennials confused democracy with the democratic party.

What else could explain their anger with someone not being handed the keys to a group they'd only joined a month before trying to become its leader and then immediately left after failing to take it over?

It can be argued that Sanders in running under the Democratic Party did so to keep the votes within that party. Running as an independent he could have split the vote with Democrats abandoning their party to vote for him. He would then have been a spoiler for Hillary's run for President. Instead he fought her within the Democratic party for the nomination, which she narrowly won. And according to Brazile, if not for rigging by the DNC, Bernie would have won the nomination.
