What makes Republicans so much smarter at politics than Democrats.

Are conservative people just generally smarter? Or are smart people conservative?

by Anonymousreply 49Last Thursday at 10:21 PM

They were the jocks, the military-types. They learned how to ambush the enemy.

by Anonymousreply 1Last Thursday at 1:52 PM

lack of morals; no ethics

by Anonymousreply 2Last Thursday at 1:54 PM

When you have no principles beyond obtaining power, it’s child’s play to outmaneuver your more principled opponents.

by Anonymousreply 3Last Thursday at 1:55 PM

They appeal to the white folks in the country. -- Don't let them take your guns! Don't let them take your religion! Don't let them kill your babies! Don't let them take over your country!

by Anonymousreply 4Last Thursday at 1:58 PM

A lot of them have military backgrounds, where groups are forced to act as a unit. Individualism is frowned upon, the group is far more important.

The complete opposite of Democrats, where individuality and inclusiveness reign supreme. As a result, Democrats can't get shit done. As soon as someone's feelings get hurt, they throw a temper tantrum and instead of being ignored, Democrats rush to console them and help them get in touch with their feelings. You know, like Susan Sarandon.

by Anonymousreply 5Last Thursday at 2:01 PM

Sociopaths often rise to the top.

by Anonymousreply 6Last Thursday at 2:04 PM

They are sociopaths for sure. Trump is an aspies sociopath with no empathy. He squints and gets mad at anyone who spites him like a high functioning social retard. His sons look like cromagnons and his daughter like a Russian prostitute.

by Anonymousreply 7Last Thursday at 2:07 PM

Not moral. No conscience. Driven by the almighty dollar. Untruth comes easy.

by Anonymousreply 8Last Thursday at 2:08 PM

They may be better at getting elected but there's no way they're better at politics. They're fear-based ignoramuses.

by Anonymousreply 9Last Thursday at 2:09 PM

Ruthless, duplicitous liars.

by Anonymousreply 10Last Thursday at 2:11 PM

democrats are to busy arguing their "feelings or personal beliefs" like any of that fucking matters.

by Anonymousreply 11Last Thursday at 2:13 PM

Smarter at politics? How about the R voters are idiots and that is why we have an idiot with dementia running this country right now.

by Anonymousreply 12Last Thursday at 2:13 PM

Democrats are better at governing. Republicans are better at campaigning.

by Anonymousreply 13Last Thursday at 2:14 PM

r12 as big a baffoon the current president is...at least it ain't hillary in there, she's never been successful at any job she's ever had.

by Anonymousreply 14Last Thursday at 2:15 PM

What's a baffoon?

by Anonymousreply 15Last Thursday at 2:17 PM

pathological liars, with no moral constraints,

by Anonymousreply 16Last Thursday at 2:18 PM

They use dogwhistles and Trump used a megaphone to call out all the dumbasses who are racists because they believe it's gotta be somebody else's fault they're failures. Some black or brown person's fault. And most people are failures. They're working class, uneducated people who fancy themselves 'middle class'.

Until the late 60s the Dems mined this in the South. LBJ "betrayed" them and they got suckered in by Nixon's Southern Strategy. Pre-Voting Rights Act there was no GOP in the South, post-VRA there is no white Democratic Party in the South.

From Snopes: President Lyndon Baines Johnson, who grew up in the South and understood the politics of racism from the inside, saw it in part as a ploy to divide and conquer.

LBJ was campaigning with Bill Moyers in Tennessee when they saw some white women carrying racist signs. He explained to Moyers: "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

It still works. LBJ's idea with the Great Society was to make poor people, white and black and brown, realize they were in the same boat and should be fighting the same war instead of being divided by racism. GOP uses the racism to get dumbass, poor white people to vote against their best interests. Which leads me to believe white people are dumber than black and brown people.

by Anonymousreply 17Last Thursday at 2:29 PM

Because the current Democrats will do everything in their power to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Dumb move after dumb move as today we were shown once again. They had a incredible attack dog in Franken but they threw him under the bus the first opportunity they got.

by Anonymousreply 18Last Thursday at 2:30 PM

R18 Dems form circular firing squads and Dem women appear to be the worst. Gillibrand pulled a bullying stunt on Franken. I suspect she has ulterior motives. Al was a likely 2020 candidate and maybe Gillibrand thinks she is. She thought wrong. She alienated a shitload of Dems with her lynch mob tactics.

by Anonymousreply 19Last Thursday at 2:32 PM

Time for another party. A real opposition party don't you think?

The definition of madness is doing the same thing and expecting a different result as they say.

by Anonymousreply 20Last Thursday at 2:34 PM

They're not smarter. They are, however, willing to throw any shit at the wall to see what sticks. There is nothing they won't stoop to.

by Anonymousreply 21Last Thursday at 2:36 PM

Democrats wants to be right. Republicans want to win.

by Anonymousreply 22Last Thursday at 2:38 PM

Reps are most depraved and willing to do anything to get an election win. Dems think image is more important than actual winning, they care too much how people think of them and prefer to win pretty talking points like #metoo and #wegohigh over actual winning of elections.

by Anonymousreply 23Last Thursday at 2:40 PM

REPUblicans are more homogenous and therefore more unified in ideology and demography

by Anonymousreply 24Last Thursday at 2:50 PM

They're ruthless and have no ethics. They know how to scapegoat and link their 'Values" with Religion.

by Anonymousreply 25Last Thursday at 2:54 PM

Their base voters are morons and sheeple. Democrat voters are smarter.

It’s easy to tell a dog to lick it’s ass.

by Anonymousreply 26Last Thursday at 3:15 PM

Republicans aren't "better" at politics. They are good at winning elections. They ignore the rules and fight dirty. They never explain or apologize. They literally don't give a fuck. That's how they fight. Oh. And they never ever admit defeat. So when they lose you'd never know it from their behavior.

by Anonymousreply 27Last Thursday at 3:21 PM

They lie and cheat.

by Anonymousreply 28Last Thursday at 3:28 PM

Killer instincts and amorality.

They will literally do anything to win an election, and their racist dumbo constituents make up just enough of the population to put them over the top. You think anyone loves Republicans?

by Anonymousreply 29Last Thursday at 3:35 PM

R27 Michelle Obama's 'when they go low, we go high' is all well and good and doesn't win a fucking election. We need an LBJ now, not a wimpy, Goodie Two Shoes.

by Anonymousreply 30Last Thursday at 3:38 PM

[quote]Democrats are better at governing. Republicans are better at campaigning.

[quote]They're not smarter. They are, however, willing to throw any shit at the wall to see what sticks. There is nothing they won't stoop to.

I very much agree with R13 and R21.

[quote]REPUblicans are more homogenous and therefore more unified in ideology and demography

I also agree with R24, republicans are very consistent when it comes to putting their party's "values" over the well being of their constituents. Recent example: continued support for Roy Moore and the NRA.

[quote]democrats are to busy arguing their "feelings or personal beliefs" like any of that fucking matters.

Hmm… do you mean feelings and personal beliefs about things like abortion, gay marriage, religious freedom and climate change? (just to name a few things)

by Anonymousreply 31Last Thursday at 3:45 PM

Republicans have a much more cohesive ideology and identity than Democrats, who are much more diverse and divided by religion, race, income, age, and educating. Republicans are more believers in hierarchy and authority that makes it easier for them to rally behind an agenda and leaders. They walk lock step and win

by Anonymousreply 32Last Thursday at 4:04 PM

I'm not that familiar with Roe vs. Wade but is it legal to have late term abortions? I know in Europe cut off date is pretty much at 20 weeks. My sister told me late term abortions practically never occur and only if the fetus has died or the mother is going to die. If they lowered the limit on abortion to 20 weeks wouldn't that rob the rightwing of their abortion obsession and a vote getter?

by Anonymousreply 33Last Thursday at 4:05 PM

To quote the great J.R. Ewing, “Once you give up your integrity, the rest is a piece of cake.”

by Anonymousreply 34Last Thursday at 4:07 PM

They're not smarter, they're shameless. There is no bottom to the depths they will sink to. Shame is a great motivator, and hindrance, if you're susceptible to it. But if you have absolutely no shame, you're completely ruthless.

by Anonymousreply 35Last Thursday at 4:10 PM

Don't you all see what's going on here? OP's post is a COMPLIMENT. Well then, OP, you're a piece of shit cunt, your mother is a filthy cheap whore, and you diddle kiddies.

by Anonymousreply 36Last Thursday at 4:17 PM

They are not ruled by emotions

by Anonymousreply 37Last Thursday at 4:19 PM

Both sides need to move more to the center. Compare Obama with Trump and tell me Republicans are smarter at politics. I still can't believe he got the things he did through the Senate.

by Anonymousreply 38Last Thursday at 4:22 PM

It's simple, they have figured out the Muslims are the enemy. This proves their intelligence.

by Anonymousreply 39Last Thursday at 4:24 PM

Republicans are much better liars than Democrats, I am not saying Democrats don't lie, just the Republicans are like professionals and the Democrats are amateurs. It probably helps that their followers are much more gullible.

They are also much better at memes such as "Liberalism is a mental illness" now neither liberalism nor conservativism are mental illnesses, but who wants to identify with a belief that some equate with being mentally ill.

Then there is Christianity, the Republicans have managed to wrap themselves in the cloak of Christianity, even though most of them don't really follow the teachings of Christianity. Christ believed in giving to and taking care of the poor and less fortunate, Republicans wrap themselves in Christianity while preaching personal responsiblity not hand outs for the less fortunate. Christ taught peace, Republicans seem to love war.

by Anonymousreply 40Last Thursday at 4:33 PM

Dishonesty, lack of morals, the ability to lie without sense of remorse - and no feeling for your common man. Plus, an outrageous reflexive defense of anything old and a hatred of anything new.

It's true.

by Anonymousreply 41Last Thursday at 4:38 PM

Oh - and also - try to prevent people from voting AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Limit the hours and machines in Democrat districts, send out erroneous robo-calls of where and what dates to vote, throw people off the voting registration because they have the same name as someone else in another state.

What's amazing is how people vote for them. Truly ignorant people vote Republican - not saying they're dumb, but they are ignorant of what the party does and their true effects.

by Anonymousreply 42Last Thursday at 4:41 PM

So we should enable the lazy asses who suck and fuck all day long and have umpteen kids? Lifer losers who have never worked. People who know how to milk the system. Rich Muslims who want to take over, funding bitch Hillary and encouraging the weak minded to vote Democrat? Really both parties have issues.

by Anonymousreply 43Last Thursday at 4:50 PM

[quote]Dems form circular firing squads and Dem women appear to be the worst. Gillibrand pulled a bullying stunt on Franken. I suspect she has ulterior motives. Al was a likely 2020 candidate and maybe Gillibrand thinks she is. She thought wrong. She alienated a shitload of Dems with her lynch mob tactics.

Yup. It's funny, just a few months ago my sister and I were wondering, "What happened to K. Gillivrand?" She all but disappeared the last half of 2016 through most of this year.

She hung back in safety while members like Franken, Schiff, Waters, Schumer, Pelosi, Swalwell, Cummings, and even relative unknowns like TX Rep. Al Green risked being labeled troublemakers/sour grapeheads and went HARD after Trump and the GOP.

And if she thinks she can ride this #metoo wave into a 2020 nomination, she is more of an airhead that I thought. She is not winning black or brown women with this moment, and both of those demographics are more vulnerable to sexual harassment, repression, and workplace retaliation than middle class white women. And coupled with her genuinely principled press for reform of armed forces rape/assault prosecution processes, Gillibrand risks being labeled a "women's issues" candidate.

On a side note, I am very disappointed in Kamala Harris here. I think she picked the wrong side. Would have loved to see her stand with Amy Klobuchar and sit this one out. She could have voiced support for victims without appearing at that show trial of a press conference.

Can't wait for the ethics hearings.

Conspiracy in the advertising business

by Anonymousreply 45Last Thursday at 4:56 PM

Rs come with guns. Ds come with knives. You bring a knife to a gun fight you die.

by Anonymousreply 46Last Thursday at 5:07 PM

Everything said here about republicans is true. Yet they keep winning. Dems need a killer instinct to win. You gotta win to stay in the game.

by Anonymousreply 47Last Thursday at 10:07 PM

OP asks,

[Quote]What makes Republicans so much smarter at politics than Democrats?

The Republicans, unlike the Democrats, don’t rig their presidential primaries.

by Anonymousreply 48Last Thursday at 10:18 PM

Politics is a dirty business. You need to get down and dirty.
