Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s Daughter Ava Shines at 2017 Debutante Ball

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s daughter, Ava Phillippe, absolutely dazzled at the 25th annual Bal des Debutantes in Paris on Saturday, November 25.

The 18-year-old wore a gold ballgown designed by Giambattista Valli Haute Couture at the event at The Peninsula Paris hotel. She was escorted by Maharaja Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur, a prominent member of Indian royalty and a polo player pal of Prince William’s. In a video posted by Bruno Astuto, a writer for Vogue Brasil, Phillippe looks calm and poised as she elegantly bows to Singh before they began a waltz. The pair dance to a song from the hit film La La Land in front of 19 fellow debutantes, including Steve Harvey’s daughter, Lori Harvey, and other guests.

The blonde beauty posed for photos alongside her mom, with Witherspoon gazing at her daughter in adoration. The Oscar winner, 41, was also seen sitting next to her husband Jim Toth and taking pictures of her daughter on her phone. Phillippe, who boasts nearly 500,000 Instagram followers, is often mistaken for her look-alike parent.

Wow looking at that photo, I thought it was Reese and figured she must have danced there too.

The resemblance......

Lol, selling their daughter to Middle Eastern royalty at 16. I know both parents are box office poison, but has it really come to this?

by Anonymousreply 3November 28, 2017 3:09 PM

India is not the Middle East.

That said, WTF? Debutante ball for Americans in Paris? God we really have gone global.

by Anonymousreply 4November 28, 2017 3:21 PM

It's a debutante ball for the nouveau riche.

by Anonymousreply 5November 28, 2017 3:33 PM

Isn't there an oldeau ball in TN?

by Anonymousreply 6November 28, 2017 3:49 PM

The 54 year old has got aids skin around his beaky nose and cheeks

Would have thought Ryan at the very least would have raised her better than to be ok with participating in such an event. Go build a clinic in Appalachia or something you little dummy, and take that pretentious, southern belle mother with you.

by Anonymousreply 8December 28, 2017 8:00 PM

She's much prettier than her mother.

by Anonymousreply 9December 28, 2017 8:06 PM

Ryan is much prettier than either of them.

by Anonymousreply 10December 28, 2017 8:10 PM

Color me shocked. Steve Harvey's daughter is beautiful. Lucky lady takes after her mother.

She wore Elie Saab to the ball.

This particular ball is for very wealthy trash who cannot debut anywhere else, or wish to show off more than is allowed in polite society. Founded in 1992!

by Anonymousreply 12December 28, 2017 8:12 PM

Their daughter looks exactly like Ryan, not Reese. I mean look at that pic at r2. It is Ryan's face.

by Anonymousreply 13December 28, 2017 8:12 PM

Debuting in Black! She'll wish herself back!

by Anonymousreply 14December 28, 2017 8:13 PM

Ava has Ryan's eyes.

by Anonymousreply 15December 28, 2017 8:17 PM

This debs with an anonymous fancy man.

As fugly as Mamma

by Anonymousreply 18December 28, 2017 8:23 PM

That's not at all then R18.

by Anonymousreply 19December 28, 2017 8:25 PM

Our perception of beauty is clearly different.

I was wondering what kind of debutante ball this was. The Willis girls debuted there, all of HW's daughters go to this ball so you knew it had to be bullshit and not the real aristocracy. I would have thought Reese had better taste, but apparently not.

by Anonymousreply 22December 28, 2017 8:31 PM

There's always one in a Mother of the Bride dress that makes her look three times her age.

by Anonymousreply 23December 28, 2017 8:35 PM

Who's her date, r23?

by Anonymousreply 24December 28, 2017 8:43 PM

I believe that is her brother R24

by Anonymousreply 25December 28, 2017 8:57 PM

Oh please, R11, if you think that’s her real nose, I’ve got a piece of real estate to sell you in SW Florida. Duh.

by Anonymousreply 26December 28, 2017 9:12 PM

[quote] not the real aristocracy

You can hardly get more aristocratic and less nouveau riche than her Prince date.

by Anonymousreply 27December 28, 2017 9:39 PM

Her mother has bigger eyes and was prettier than Ava when she was 18

You guys are so picky and judgmental. I came out at a very established old money ball in Richmond, Va,, but I would have loved doing something glitzier and more fun at that age. I could not have cared less about the stuffy old school style of the Bal in Richmond...but my mother sure did.

by Anonymousreply 30March 25, 2018 3:18 PM

Reese has aged poorly

I debuted my balls on July 4, 1983.

by Anonymousreply 32March 25, 2018 3:27 PM

Did you wear white? Or did you wear Jezebel red?

by Anonymousreply 33March 25, 2018 3:30 PM

[quote]Did you wear white? Or did you wear Jezebel red?

I have no recollection of my attire. But to this day the smell of Nivea makes me twitch and feel funny down there.

by Anonymousreply 34March 25, 2018 3:36 PM

R23 That is the granddaughter of a DL fave, the Duchess of Alba, who bequeathed to each of her children a palace and left them a total of over $5 billion.

This young lady is a true aristocrat, and lives a charmed life in a real palace.

by Anonymousreply 35March 25, 2018 3:41 PM

R6: In Nashville, it's called the Swan Ball

by Anonymousreply 36March 25, 2018 3:42 PM

Wow, some of those dresses are just tasteless and fugly.

The dresses are ill-fitting and the wrong style/shape for the majority of those girls.

Even I can see that, and I'm not some style homo who cares who wore what better.

by Anonymousreply 37March 25, 2018 3:54 PM

I think Steve Harvey's daughter's gown is gorgeous, but it could not be more inappropriate for a deb.

by Anonymousreply 38March 25, 2018 4:59 PM

There are some real aristocratic types at this ball. They are attracted by the children of stars, who are attracted by the old world glamour of it all and (probably) a free ride while there.

For all it’s glitz, the Senatorix will tell you Le Bal is no St. Cecelia Club ball.

by Anonymousreply 39March 25, 2018 5:51 PM

Black Cotillions are THE best.

Queen Elizabeth put a stop to debutante balls at Buckingham Palace in the 1950s.

by Anonymousreply 42March 25, 2018 11:31 PM

R16 She looks like Ryan in a wig there

by Anonymousreply 43March 25, 2018 11:53 PM

Reese Witherspoon's daughter came out to what, Parisian society? 😂😂😂

Why do these poseurs even try? Don't they know they look like fools? Young women came out to society because before this they were IN. As in they didn't really socialize.

by Anonymousreply 44March 26, 2018 12:49 AM

Well R44, since half of "Parisian society" these days seem to be from far-away former French colonies...I don't think it matters so much to most Parisians at all

I don't think the granddaughter of the Duchess of Alba is a "poseur" nor do I think Princess Charlotte of Nassau is a "poseur" as well.

by Anonymousreply 45March 26, 2018 1:01 AM

This reminds me of the David Sedaris story where he discovers that every high school has its own hierarchy. He overhears kids talking in reverent tones about some popular kids and he has no idea who they are. The powerful and popular kids at your own school have no power among the kids a few towns over.

People worship NASCAR drivers or athletes I’ve never heard of. I idolize certain writers or fashion designers *they* haven’t heard of.

It’s funny, the things we consider important in our little tribes. To me, a debutante ball seems frivolous and silly, but it’s dead serious to these folks.

by Anonymousreply 46March 26, 2018 1:27 AM

In the barrio they're called Quinceñeras

by Anonymousreply 47March 26, 2018 1:54 AM

Except in the barrio, the "debutantes" quickly become pregnant after being "presented" to society.

by Anonymousreply 48March 26, 2018 1:57 AM

It's certainly no Bachelor's Cotillion.

by Anonymousreply 49March 26, 2018 2:07 AM

She has her father’s eyes!

by Anonymousreply 50March 26, 2018 2:22 AM

The Swan Ball is not a cotillion or coming out part for debs, R36. It is an adult fundraiser for, I believe, the Nashville Symphony. There is a collation here, but I forget what it's called.

by Anonymousreply 51March 26, 2018 2:30 AM

A debutante ball? What is this - 1842?

by Anonymousreply 52March 26, 2018 4:09 AM

The Bals ball is also a fundraiser for charities.
