Orson Welles could get away with being fat because he was a great talk show guest, because he directed some really good films, and because he could at times be really compelling in a movie.

Affleck can't really say any of that.

While not a fan of Affleck, he's had his fit moments (The Town movie comes to mind).

It seems like the weight really came on after the Batman role (did he bulk up for that?) and he's fighting alcoholism. But I still would. I wouldn't be proud of it...

Ben is an attractive man, but he's not great shakes as an actor, so I'm not sure the fat character actor route is the best way for him to go.
