Why would he ? He is a sensible guy and is in Hollywood for quite sometime . He know who Jon Bernthal is and he knows how Hollywood works and whom Hollywood prefers.

The Walking Dead cast is notoriously underpaid, because if they make a stink about their salary the execs make it clear they can be killed off.
Huge show for AMC, but their salaries do not reflect that.
