I remember a Spanish performance J Lo did with Marc Anthony on some award show back when they were together. Things started off well, and I was actually impressed that J Lo could hold her own against a vastly superior singer. Then her voice cracked midway through and I had to change the channel. Way too much secondhand embarrassment.

I love Ann Reinking, but this is a travesty. And Phil Collins was in the audience watching this. 3:58 is where things go from sad and awful to offensive.

Any performance of Whitney in that final year is a travesty. The fact that Clive basically pushed her out on tour to try to sell her “comeback” was fatally misguided. Her voice was shot to shit. That DWTS performance of I Wanna Dance With Somebody is standard late-Whitney. She looks put together, but she doesn’t move at all, leaves her background singers to do all the heavy lifting and phrases all the lyrics in a maddeningly syncopated manner... all the whole sounding like she swallowed glass before going on stage. She HAD to know she sounded terrible.

Now that I watch it again this version is ok. There must be another version which has more mood lighting which is a disaster. But that sparkly curtain at the back is a mistake. Good live vocal by Olivia though.

The performance is more scary than sad, but sad to see Bette Davis reduced to this.
