Germans destroyed a thriving country.
Does Poland deserve reparations from Germany for WW2?

If so, then other countries who suffered property loses by the Germans should also get some reparations. True, Poland was hit hard, perhaps more than other countries. I'll vote "no" on this question OP.

Its too late, too far in history.

This has nothing to do with reparations. Poland countered with this when the EU (Germany) demanded they took more refugees / would have to pay a fine if they didn't.
It's basically Poland telling Germany to BTFO and it worked.

Only if Poland is willing to give reparations to the few surviving Jews from the Holocaust and relatives of the millions murdered. The Poles rounded up Jews for extermination with so much glee that it shocked the Nazis.

Much of Poland was once Germany. I don’t mean by military occupation. The ancient German homeland, Prussia, is in Poland now. Danzig was a German City, named Gdańsk in Poland, now.
After the war, Germans in Poland and Czechoslovakia and elsewhere were forced from their homes. So, it’s complicated.

It's only complicated in the minds of Germans, R7.

Why aren't they demanding reparations from Russia? Germany and Russia carved up the country after the start of WWII, according to their mutual pact. Stalin and Russia was every bit as brutal in their part of Poland as the Nazis were in theirs.

Closer to our time, Vietnam should get reparations from the US.

E anyone get it? If anyone deserves it, they do.
Afterh Trump gets done with us, what countries are we going to owe reparations to?

How apt it is that Art Spiegelman's classic graphic Holocaust memoir portrays the Poles as pigs.
So, no.

The French and Germans swapped reperation assessments from the Napoleonic war until WWI, After each war, same assessment.

R11, actually a great deal of Poland was carved out of what was once Prussia; so, yes, it is indeed complicated. Much of the moving of borders happened in a span about 30 years. It is not as if we are talking about borders that had been set for centuries. In some cases they had been in place for less than ten years.

Immediately before WWI, there was no Poland. Germany abutted Russian that time.

No, but they deserve reparations from Russia, whose meddling started WWI.
