My Uncle and His Boyfriend are Goals

Great to see masculine male couples of color in public. Great role models.

If you dumb asses are really serious about the goal thing, it means that the poster wants (or AIMS) to achieve the "goal" of having such a relationship one day. SMH

by Anonymousreply 20September 22, 2017 5:13 PM

HOW can anyone not know what goals mean?

by Anonymousreply 21September 22, 2017 5:13 PM

Goals is often used to mean a dude has the physique you want to attain, but here, it's about the relationship

by Anonymousreply 22September 22, 2017 5:14 PM

[quote] HOW can anyone not know what goals mean?

We fucking know what goals means. We just don't understand how men can literally be them.

by Anonymousreply 23September 22, 2017 5:14 PM

R21 types tard

by Anonymousreply 24September 22, 2017 5:16 PM

It's easy for these guys to be goals. You set one guy up and then set the other guy up about 25 feet away.

Anyway, yes we know, as used here it's braindead social media speak. It's like saying something is "everything."

One more example of the enduring retardation of today's younger people.

by Anonymousreply 25September 22, 2017 5:18 PM

[quote] I swear you dumb racist bitches upset me

How is it racist to ask how a word is used in a context that is not familiar or used with a meaning that is not traditionally recognized? An example would be if someone started saying "I'm futuring" to mean passing through time or aging. It would leave many perplexed. Language is about shared meaning leading to communication and understanding.

by Anonymousreply 26September 22, 2017 5:19 PM

"Goals" is also often used by straight-identified guys to let a hot dude know he thinks he is hot or has a hot physique.

by Anonymousreply 27September 22, 2017 5:19 PM

"Everything" is a female or fem guy term. Goals is not

by Anonymousreply 28September 22, 2017 5:20 PM

Yeah, it's DL speak.

Not datalounge, but the other DL

by Anonymousreply 29September 22, 2017 5:21 PM

It can be a down low term, but not exclusively so

So much of Instagram male aesthetics behavior is down low or low key

by Anonymousreply 31September 22, 2017 5:24 PM

[quote] So much of Instagram male aesthetics behavior is down low or low key

What does "low key" mean in this context?

by Anonymousreply 32September 22, 2017 5:26 PM

Could it not be misconstrued that the poster's "goal" was to have a sexual tyst with his uncle and his uncle's boyfriend?

by Anonymousreply 33September 22, 2017 5:27 PM

I see the obtuse troll has arrived

by Anonymousreply 34September 22, 2017 5:28 PM

OMG. I think the Twitter post OP shared is encouraging. Then I had to F&F every other post. DL has really gone to the Deplorables.

by Anonymousreply 35September 22, 2017 5:34 PM

[quote] Then I had to F&F every other post. DL has really gone to the Deplorables.

Gosh, it must be so difficult to be you with so many triggers surrounding you. Maybe you should buy a zoo... of Therapy Animals

by Anonymousreply 36September 22, 2017 5:37 PM

Low key generally means doing or being something without being obvious or detectable. In this context, it's when a guy hits on or flirts with a dude but nobody but that guy can tell or detect it.

by Anonymousreply 37September 22, 2017 5:39 PM

While I appreciate OP using the term in a complete sentence, it's more applicable usage as a superlative is as a single phrase:

Goals. (picture of a guy working out)

like:

Damn! (picture a guy showing his erect penis.)

The new monosyllabic spoken word culture of fragmenting standard English to accommodate the short attention span of social media are problematic for some, easier for others with limited vocabularies, whose syntax is less than memes with text.

That said, to quote a meme in the linked Twitter thread, "I want your sperm."

by Anonymousreply 56September 22, 2017 7:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 57September 22, 2017 7:32 PM

I don't see hate on this thread. Where do you see it?

by Anonymousreply 58September 22, 2017 7:34 PM

What do they actually do to be "role models"?

by Anonymousreply 59September 22, 2017 7:41 PM

Don't you know, R59:

Being a masc bro is worthy of idol worship!

by Anonymousreply 60September 22, 2017 7:45 PM

R59 Suck and fuck.

by Anonymousreply 61September 22, 2017 7:49 PM

R60, I forgot. My mistake.

Masc bros, porn stars, rent boys, Instahoes. Or any combination of the above. Those are our gay role models in 2017.

by Anonymousreply 62September 22, 2017 7:50 PM

Enjoy seeing a post like this one. We not only get to meet two guys in a relationship, but a number of us learned a new word. Whether the word "goal" is appropriate or we're still dealing with the baggage that it represents, but some of us (including me) now know something we didn't know before. Excellent! Do we need to discuss their nationality? No. Is their nationality important? Only to them. Would I like to see more couples of color pictured? I guess I do. But only to show that gay couples include all nationalities, races, religions, etc. R62 is wrong. Only a small percentage of gay men fit into the categories he or she lists. My gay role models are my friends who are comfortably out and home, school, and at work.

by Anonymousreply 63September 22, 2017 8:13 PM

Dominicans

by Anonymousreply 64September 23, 2017 1:58 AM

A very image! It's good/a goal to see more and more gay men of color being together...that's all,..Very nice!

by Anonymousreply 65September 23, 2017 3:56 AM

Are they only "goals" because they're "of color"? White couple or mixed couples are not "goals"? What a racist CUNT. Be gone!

by Anonymousreply 66September 23, 2017 4:00 AM

I wasn't aware "goals" had baggage, only that its use in this context is another example of how a neutral word has been rendered stupid by millennial Instahos.

by Anonymousreply 67September 23, 2017 4:03 AM

Nice bro

by Anonymousreply 68September 23, 2017 4:14 AM

Good god stop with the Dominican shit. It says clearly in one of the tweets/comments that they are JAMAICAN men at a Dominican festival.

by Anonymousreply 69September 23, 2017 6:23 AM

[quote] doesn't anone read any more?

Apparently not when "goals" is being used in the manner the OP did.

by Anonymousreply 70September 23, 2017 6:24 AM

They look pretty gay.

by Anonymousreply 71September 23, 2017 6:40 AM

OK, OK.

"My goal is to be like my uncle and his boyfriend some day."

Happy now?

by Anonymousreply 72September 23, 2017 8:16 AM

They're pretty hot--obviously--but they look bitchy AF.

by Anonymousreply 73September 23, 2017 9:18 AM

[quote] OK, OK. "My goal is to be like my uncle and his boyfriend some day." Happy now?

No. Start a new thread with that sentence as your topic, and that will assuage us. We don't care about their ethnicity, race or nationality. They are irrelevant. What we care about is proper grammar and usage.

by Anonymousreply 74September 23, 2017 9:29 AM

Okay

by Anonymousreply 75September 23, 2017 9:59 AM

They look good in the other pictures. This is what half of my friends look like.

by Anonymousreply 76September 23, 2017 10:04 AM

R55, I agree but OP's post was not a good example because it shames men who don't qualify as "masculine". That being said, I bet when they open their mouths, purses fall out.

"Yassss, Bro! Goals!"

by Anonymousreply 77September 23, 2017 1:22 PM

Bump

by Anonymousreply 78September 24, 2017 4:37 AM

OP As soon as you say "masculine", you can fuck right the hell off. We don't need to do that bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 79September 24, 2017 4:41 AM

They should definitely be celebrated as they are probably one of the three out gay Jamaican couples on planet Earth.

by Anonymousreply 80September 24, 2017 4:42 AM

R76, Which half?

by Anonymousreply 81September 24, 2017 4:45 AM

From Urban Distionalry: "goals targets you want to reach in relationships, life, etc. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are goals"

I learned two new words this week; dotard and goals.

by Anonymousreply 82September 24, 2017 4:48 AM

They are a credit to their race!

by Anonymousreply 83September 24, 2017 4:55 AM

Blake and Ryan are targets? Somebody call the FBI!

by Anonymousreply 84September 24, 2017 4:59 AM

Not really that cute at all to me.

by Anonymousreply 85September 24, 2017 5:07 AM

Use this thread. It's better and more appropriate in gay, cultural and grammatical terms. It treats the subject as individuals not as members of groups.
