Nope she not.

I love the permanent block function on DL.

by Anonymousreply 2August 13, 2017 5:11 PM

She most certainly is not. She contorted the facts fit her narrative.

by Anonymousreply 3August 13, 2017 5:11 PM

This person takes how few respond after a terrorist attack and applies it to everyone... doing exactly what she says she's against. Classic textbook definition of "hypocrite."

by Anonymousreply 4August 13, 2017 5:24 PM

I agree with her. Every time an Islamic terrorist strikes, the .media goes on and on about Islamopbo ia, made up term.

by Anonymousreply 5August 13, 2017 5:25 PM

Katie has never been right in her entire life.

by Anonymousreply 6August 13, 2017 5:30 PM

Would someone explain to me how Islamic terrorism is tolerated? What do you want to do, kill all Muslims? Is that your solution?

by Anonymousreply 7August 13, 2017 5:33 PM

In context of Britain she's right. Immediately after any terrorist atrocity or race-based rape gangs there is always a wringing of hands over "I hope this doesn't incite Islamophobia".

by Anonymousreply 8August 13, 2017 5:37 PM

She is Brave.

How difficult is this to understand? All people who practice Islam are not responsible for crimes committed by terrorists in the name of Islam, any more than all Christians are responsible for crimes committed by terrorists in Christ’s name. They are not. And twisting the facts isn’t going to make them fit into some preconceived box that furthers a racist and xenophobic narrative, which not only absolves right-wing nutjobs of any responsibility but perversely allows them to transform themselves in victims.

Donald Trump has furthered a racist, white supremacist agenda. We’ve known that for a long time. He has people on his staff who are known white supremacists, like Bannon, Miller, and Gorka. He put a racist in charge of the Justice Department. Trump can criticize anyone, everyone, and everything – including the building we are providing for him – with the push of a few buttons, but he is unable to denounce Nazis, white supremacists, and Putin. Pathetic.

So, yes, he bears responsibility for encouraging this hateful behavior to take root and flourish and for not doing anything to stop it. These people in Virginia were doing this in his name and constantly invoked him, for goodness sake. Did he decry any of it? No. He instead went off on some absurd version of “everyone does it,” and “all lives matter.” If you are standing silently by then you are tacitly endorsing this hate-filled agenda. That goes for Trump and all of his supporters.

False equivalency is false.

Islamophobia is not a made up term; it is the behaviour bigots engage in when confronted with the threat of terrorism. There is no reason to blame all Muslims for the acts of a few, just as there is no reason to blame all white xtians for the acts of a few. However, I think the point at which we disagree —that this unknown twitter person espouses — there is a need to look at the root causes of terrorism and lay blame where it belongs. I say hold Imams accountable when they incite violence... which, of course, means that we need to hold the people responsible for Charlottesville responsible for the rhetoric behind their actions. This leads straight to the top: Trump said, during the election, "we don't see violence any more" and suggested that mob mentality was called for in situations like this. Trump is responsible for the death of an innocent woman standing up for her rights as a citizen. And Trump is so weak, he can't even call it what it is — white supremacist violence — and hold those responsible for their actions, even using words.

[quote]She is Brave.

This Hopkins is not brave, sitting in her kitchen and scribbling out an easily disprovable false equivalency between feminists' response to radical Islam and white nationalism. If she were brave, she'd be at the protests occurring all across the country yesterday and today, taking responsibility for her statements... but she's not. She's safely ensconced in her house, encouraging other people do her dirty work, blaming the wrong people. That is cowardly, and she is a coward.
