120 Beats per Minute gets the Grand Prix
Cannot wait to see this.
[quote]120 Beats per Minute gets the Grand Prix
[quote]It is one of the very best films at Cannes: a defiant, passionate, heartwrenching and in its way euphoric movie about the ACT UP movement in Paris in the late 80s and early 90s, campaigning aggressively for the complacent political establishment and bland careerists of Big Pharma to do something about Aids research. It is a film whose emotional force builds progressively through the film; appropriately, its heartbeat maintains a steady, accumulative intensity. The largely unknown cast were all superb. It’s a film I can’t wait to see again when it is released in the UK.

Apparently it's the very first gay-centric film about AIDS!

It looks great. Do we know if it will open in the US?

Just saw it in London. It is a really good piece of cinema - I'd say better than Normal Heart, which was already pretty good.

I notice they don't mention "entertaining". But then few political polemics are.

It should win Best Foreign Language Film but was bewilderingly not forwarded to the pool of 10 semi finalists. best dramatic film about AIDS I've seen (granted, it's a small pool).

I won't see this film because I avoid award-bait movies like fire but this guy looks so hot. I've always had a thing for men with dumbo ears:
