Is it Gay to Check out Dudes at the Gym?

Gymspiration or Gay?

by Anonymousreply 109June 4, 2018 4:19 AM

"I want to act like a fucking slut and make people uncomfortable all the time and pretend like it's a "source of inspiration" so I have an excuse at the ready when people notice me ogling them".

by Anonymousreply 1May 27, 2017 11:58 PM

It is more gay to ask if it is gay than it is to do it.

by Anonymousreply 2May 28, 2017 12:00 AM

It's gay if the person checking out the other guy is also a guy

by Anonymousreply 3May 28, 2017 12:06 AM

Good way to put it, r2.

by Anonymousreply 4May 28, 2017 12:07 AM

This is a good representation of the Bromo Aesethetics Movement.

by Anonymousreply 5May 28, 2017 12:09 AM

The chick is the most homophobic of the three.

by Anonymousreply 6May 28, 2017 12:30 AM

When I was a kid, my Dad would sometimes take us to a huge, public pool, with separate (of course) changing areas for men and women. You'd change into your swimsuit in the locker room, in full view of the other guys, and shower in the locker room, if you felt the need, in front of all the other guys. You'd be giving an elastic band with a locker key to wear around your wrist or ankle, to change back into your street clothes later. I remember (long before I knew I was gay) there was always this tall, slim guy taking a shower, slowing soaping his huge, pendulous dick (it had to be almost 12 inches). It wasn't a sexual thing for me, just one of those things that mesmerized me to the point where I had to force myself to look away, and the effort was very real. I don't know if it was foreshadowing my gayness, or if I would have been just as intrigued if I were straight. I certainly remember my (straight) older brother watching actors like Bruce Lee in rapt attention when we were younger, when Bruce was at his finest.

by Anonymousreply 7May 28, 2017 12:40 AM

THe comments below the vid are fascinating and really provide insight on Aestethics Dudes and Bromos.

by Anonymousreply 8May 28, 2017 12:42 AM

Is it homophobic or just douchey to debate whether something is gay or not?

by Anonymousreply 9May 28, 2017 12:45 AM

Bromosexuals are taking over

by Anonymousreply 10May 28, 2017 12:48 AM

This is true, R10.

by Anonymousreply 11May 28, 2017 1:07 AM

I get many more compliments about my physique from straight-identified dudes than from gay men or women.

by Anonymousreply 12May 28, 2017 1:17 AM

The Asian dude is effeminate

by Anonymousreply 13May 28, 2017 2:23 AM

Yes, it is.

Especially if your drooling, and your little soldier is standing at attention.

by Anonymousreply 14May 28, 2017 2:25 AM

Older gay men don't know today's brocode and aestethic male culture and tend to go over the line

by Anonymousreply 15May 28, 2017 2:28 AM

Just casually walk by and say, "Sup bro? YOur quads are boss."

Is it homophobic or just douchey to debate whether something is gay or not?

i don't see why it can't be both

by Anonymousreply 17May 28, 2017 2:32 AM

It's up to the individual checking out the guy. Only they can answer their reason for ogling. Who are we to decide their reason? Why would our opinion matter??

by Anonymousreply 18May 28, 2017 2:37 AM

Doesn't it really depend on the duration of the ogle?

by Anonymousreply 19May 28, 2017 2:44 AM

It depends on how you ogle and whether it's welcomed

by Anonymousreply 20May 28, 2017 2:52 AM

Doesn't it really depend on the duration of the ogle? only if it's factored with the angle of the dangle

by Anonymousreply 21May 28, 2017 2:58 AM

It depends on how you ogle and whether it's welcomed only if squared with the mass of the ass

by Anonymousreply 22May 28, 2017 3:00 AM

Hmmmm

by Anonymousreply 23May 28, 2017 4:12 AM

Re: The Locker Room/Shower/Sauna - At numerous times, posters at this site let it be known that they ogle, and spend two hours in the showers at their fitness club. They see nothing wrong with this lecherous behaviour. Gawd, I detest creepy old men. Is it any wonder most guys now do the towel dance?

by Anonymousreply 24May 28, 2017 5:47 AM

True

by Anonymousreply 25May 28, 2017 5:55 AM

Good question

by Anonymousreply 26May 28, 2017 11:57 AM

It's gay to check out dudes in the showers. And this somewhat new trend of individual showers with a shower curtain is un-male; it's not the way it should be. Males in gym locker rooms and showers rooms were meant so that we could see each other naked. Everyone having all this privacy in the shower room has caused crazy paranoia. And don't get me started on urinal dividers. I hate them.

by Anonymousreply 27May 28, 2017 12:08 PM

There are individual showers with curtains and urinal dividers because of pervs like R27. Bottom line.

Here's a hint: go to the gym, do your workout, mind your own business, then go home. If you want to do "gay" stuff, watch porn at home.

Problems solved.

by Anonymousreply 28May 28, 2017 12:22 PM

Exactly

by Anonymousreply 29May 28, 2017 1:02 PM

I caught myself yelling, "Your ovaries will get the cancer!" When I saw a beefy young man leaving baby powder dust all over the floor.

It's a low rent gym, so I hope I scared him into keeping the floors clean.

by Anonymousreply 30May 28, 2017 1:07 PM

R28. I do watch porn. But sometimes I like to see real live men naked in the showers and pissing at the urinal. It's perfectly normal and natural.

by Anonymousreply 31May 28, 2017 1:18 PM

I couldn't get through more than 2 minutes of that video. I felt like thousands of my brain cells shriveled up and died as those morons droned on.

by Anonymousreply 32May 28, 2017 1:27 PM

It's how they talk now dude

by Anonymousreply 33May 28, 2017 1:28 PM

The worst are the old men in the sauna who are constantly touching themselves and looking around for others to join in. In a way I pity them, but it's impossible to relax and unwind from your workout knowing they're staring at you. I'd actually prefer if they just jerked off and left right away.

by Anonymousreply 34May 28, 2017 1:34 PM

Dude, never go into the sauna. The people going in there look shady and pervy

by Anonymousreply 35May 28, 2017 1:48 PM

The thing is guys are constantly complimenting and checking each other out at the gym. They just do it in an acceptable masculine way, such as telling a buff guy, "You're a beast, bro." From time to times, my gym peers will come up to me and say stuff like "looking boss, brah," or "you're getting huge, man." They are supreme compliments for aesthetics dudes, meant to encourage and flatter gym bros. A lot of openly gay guys have fem mannerisms or talk in a very obviously effeminate way that is very offputting to masculine-fixated bodybuilders and aesthetics bros.

by Anonymousreply 36May 28, 2017 2:08 PM

Yeah there is a brah way to compliment a buff guy and then There is the uncool way

by Anonymousreply 37May 28, 2017 2:22 PM

Go to Bodybuilding.com forums

by Anonymousreply 38May 28, 2017 2:35 PM

R36: 50 year old mincing, prancing queen who thinks using words like dudes and bros makes him acceptable to the other huge assholes that populate the gym.

by Anonymousreply 39May 28, 2017 3:15 PM

Hey R36, what's your Instagram handle?

by Anonymousreply 40May 28, 2017 3:23 PM

It's not gay if you say 'no homo' when you're caught.

by Anonymousreply 41May 28, 2017 3:30 PM

[quote]Is it homophobic or just douchey to debate whether something is gay or not?

It's homophobic. I can't stand straight people or closeted-cases. They think and talk about homosexuality too much for my taste.

by Anonymousreply 42May 28, 2017 3:51 PM

[quote]Yeah there is a brah way to compliment a buff guy and then There is the uncool way

And, what is the "uncool way"? The 4chan people are taking over! I think Breitbart is gone, now we just have to rid the 4chan. And, LSA too.

by Anonymousreply 43May 28, 2017 3:53 PM

When I went to a gym in a gay neighborhood, I noticed the guys were far more put off if you looked at them than any straight gym I've ever been to. And I am talking about 1-2 second looks, usually actually just to see if they'd get off the machine they were hogging. They'd snap their neck around to make sure you knew they weren't interested in touching you. I was like - gurl I ain't interested in you but I am interested in the machine. Straight guys knew I was waiting for the machine.

by Anonymousreply 44May 28, 2017 3:55 PM

The Asian guy is just encouraging "No Asian" on Grindr accounts; the "brown" dude shouldn't be speaking about gays at all due to his possible Islamic/terrorist connections; and the chick is just a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 45May 28, 2017 3:55 PM

The girl is kinda dykey.

by Anonymousreply 46May 28, 2017 4:00 PM

She said she is tomboyish

by Anonymousreply 47May 28, 2017 7:31 PM

It's how you do you. I check out dudes all the time at the gym, and I observe them all the time. But it's done in a discreet way that does not make them feel uncomfortable or expose us to a public spectacle. It's in the eyes and mannerisms. Sometimes I want a guy to discreetly know I admire his physique, and if done right, he will respond positively. It's not done in a creepy or lascivious manner, just a "sup, man, you're getting huge" way, or simply saying, "Bro, you're really beastin lately." I told a dude while working out with him, "Bro, you're my gymspiration," and he couldn't stop blushing and beaming. It's knowing how to do and say stuff that matters. Likewise, guys compliment me in a certain manner. I had a guy tell me, "Man, I wanna be like you when I grow up" when I was working out. It's knowing the language and mannerisms of the Gym bro culture and abiding by it.

by Anonymousreply 48May 29, 2017 1:24 PM

Language and mannerisms are everything

by Anonymousreply 49May 29, 2017 3:03 PM

Yeah

by Anonymousreply 50May 29, 2017 6:51 PM

R48. Are you for real?

by Anonymousreply 51May 29, 2017 7:33 PM

R51, u must not go out the gym much

by Anonymousreply 52May 29, 2017 7:36 PM

R48 is just confirming what op video talks about

by Anonymousreply 53May 29, 2017 7:37 PM

If I ever hear someone actually say the word "brah", I think I'd beat him over the head with my shoe.

by Anonymousreply 54May 29, 2017 7:40 PM

R54, find a manlier way to respond

by Anonymousreply 55May 29, 2017 7:42 PM

R55 = major prancing, mincing queen.

Where's my tire iron?

Is that manly enough for you, moron brah?.

by Anonymousreply 56May 29, 2017 7:45 PM

Ok... I'd slap him silly with my pink gloves on!

by Anonymousreply 57May 29, 2017 8:16 PM

[quote]If I ever hear someone actually say the word "brah", I think I'd beat him over the head with my shoe.

Reading that or "dude" or "dude bro" or any of that bizarre shit makes my blood boil. I wish this site was pink and glittery so it takes the rage out when I read that stuff.

by Anonymousreply 58May 29, 2017 8:23 PM

Semantics are so important to people. Bromos are essentially bi and gay dudes who don't want to be called gay

by Anonymousreply 59May 29, 2017 8:25 PM

"Brooms" have psychological problems.

by Anonymousreply 60May 29, 2017 8:26 PM

Fucking auto correct.

I prefer "brooms" actually.

by Anonymousreply 61May 29, 2017 8:26 PM

Brooms?

by Anonymousreply 62May 29, 2017 8:30 PM

Yes!

by Anonymousreply 63May 29, 2017 8:30 PM

The responses on this thread are so damn pathetic. You could be learning Chinese with all the effort you waste on speaking to pumped up airheads in the correct vernacular to avoid their rejection. Fuck, what a waste of time. To each his own I guess.

by Anonymousreply 64May 29, 2017 8:46 PM

R64, people are different ya know

by Anonymousreply 65May 29, 2017 8:51 PM

IT really explains the male4male dating and app scene right now.

by Anonymousreply 66May 29, 2017 8:59 PM

It's not dating or anything healthy.

by Anonymousreply 67May 29, 2017 9:00 PM

True R65, thanks for pulling me up.

by Anonymousreply 68May 29, 2017 9:32 PM

[quote]or simply saying, "Bro, you're really beastin lately."

LOL.

by Anonymousreply 69May 29, 2017 9:32 PM

R27/R31, you are a fucking piece of shit perv and the reason I'm grateful for shower stalls. Go to the sex club if you want to look at live cock, they'll even let you beat off while you're doing it. Quit disrespecting guys going about our regular daily business.

by Anonymousreply 70May 29, 2017 9:38 PM

Wow he called him out, yo!

by Anonymousreply 73May 30, 2017 1:13 AM

Hmmmm

by Anonymousreply 74May 30, 2017 12:08 PM

LOL you can tell like half of the responses in this thread are from one person. Fucking psycho

by Anonymousreply 75May 31, 2017 3:17 AM

It's rude to check out guys at the gym.

For long.

by Anonymousreply 76May 31, 2017 3:59 AM

Is the question: Is it gay for gay men to check out other men (anywhere)? Answer: gay men, being gay and being attracted to men, might very well check out other men. This question answers itself.

If the question is: Is it "gay" (meaning tacky, bad behavior or any other negative description that's then labeled "gay" as if gay were, in and of itself a bad thing) my answer to OP: Go fuck yourself.

by Anonymousreply 77May 31, 2017 4:24 AM

r27 = The fat, old creep who loiters in the locker room and wet areas of the gym, ogling and sexually harassing everyone.

by Anonymousreply 82June 1, 2017 6:08 PM

r45. Making the world a better place.

by Anonymousreply 83June 1, 2017 6:15 PM

r48 = flirtatious queen that everyone knows about.

by Anonymousreply 84June 1, 2017 6:18 PM

All y'all Millenials don't realize every gay man, except for the A-list hotties in your town, used to cruise the locker rooms and wet areas of the gym before internet social networking.

Even before ancient Rome, Greece and Babylon.

It was harmless and social by the majority of men practicing it, but then there are the trolls who live there, don't stay fit themselves and sexually harass.

Young prisspots who act like they're beyond it should STFU. You'd be cruising public spots if there was no internet. But you wouldn't have to act like a pig there.

by Anonymousreply 85June 1, 2017 6:28 PM

It was gross and gutter then, even moreso now

by Anonymousreply 86June 1, 2017 6:31 PM

Depends on how you do it

by Anonymousreply 87June 2, 2017 8:59 AM

Guys do it all the time, but they do it in an acceptable discreet way that is masculine.

by Anonymousreply 88June 3, 2017 4:31 PM

Sadd

by Anonymousreply 89June 2, 2018 11:41 AM

It's actually inspiring for guys to see other really muscular guys who have been successful - that's why you'll see photos of Arnold or whoever behind the muscle bros when they take photos at their home gyms. It's not gay, it's just gymspiration. It's sort of like how some gay chefs have framed velvet paintings of Martha Stewart hanging in their kitchen.

by Anonymousreply 90June 2, 2018 12:19 PM

Yeah it’s gymspiration

by Anonymousreply 91June 2, 2018 12:20 PM

In order to stay on my diet, I have a "hot guy only" Instagram feed that I look at whenever I'm tempted to order takeout or something. It can help. The only irritating thing about it is that the hot muscle guys take photos of their food way too often, and it's usually junk food. Almost like they're saying "Look at what I can eat, and STILL LOOK LIKE THIS!" Although I know that normally they control their eating so it's a treat for them to get that huge ice cream dessert somewhere.

by Anonymousreply 92June 2, 2018 12:22 PM

They don’t eat junk food often, so it’s a big deal when they have cheat days

by Anonymousreply 93June 2, 2018 12:27 PM

r93 yeah I get it, it's still annoying though :) Like, I'm following their feed to be inspired, not to see photos of some amazing-looking dessert which has the opposite effect. They have some discipline though, that's what's impressive to me about them.

by Anonymousreply 94June 2, 2018 12:32 PM

I follow red velvet cakes on instagram.

by Anonymousreply 95June 2, 2018 1:09 PM

Some fitness bros do that, many do not

by Anonymousreply 96June 2, 2018 1:13 PM

Moreover, it’s just a few pics in a bevy of pics of them working out, flexing, shirtless, and in skimpy underwear and compression tights.

by Anonymousreply 97June 2, 2018 1:14 PM

The weekends on Datalounge are homophobic.

by Anonymousreply 98June 2, 2018 1:46 PM

r96/r97 - why are you defending them? It's possible to be annoyed by it and still like looking at them. Not everything has to be one or the other.

by Anonymousreply 99June 2, 2018 1:51 PM

Half the reason I go to the gym is to watch the sexy guys work out, and the new tighter, shorter, bulgy gym shorts are certainly welcome. Also love those straight guys who don't know that they are serving up VPL!

by Anonymousreply 100June 2, 2018 2:19 PM

I don’t care about VPL or bulges, but I am inspired by jacked dudes with incredible bods pumping iron in compression pants and shirts. It makes me want to work out harder, eat cleaner.

by Anonymousreply 101June 2, 2018 3:01 PM

Half the fun of going to the gym is to check out the guys and if I get a peek of peen in the locker room thats even better.

by Anonymousreply 102June 2, 2018 4:09 PM

Okay man

by Anonymousreply 103June 2, 2018 6:59 PM

The internet is teeming with surreptitious photos of men taken in locker rooms and gym showers -- damn right I'll do the towel dance.

by Anonymousreply 104June 3, 2018 12:23 AM

Okey

by Anonymousreply 105June 3, 2018 12:25 AM

These guys should be called out.

by Anonymousreply 106June 3, 2018 7:29 AM

Of course its gay to check out men at the gym, if you're a guy its gay to check out men anywhere. But I really do love checking out those gym studs.

by Anonymousreply 107June 3, 2018 9:52 PM

what a stupid subject.

by Anonymousreply 108June 3, 2018 9:58 PM
