Action film starring Charlize Theron, with the addition of hot, steamy lesbian scenes
Questionable accent.

Jane Bond?

I love this trailer.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 15, 2017 5:33 AM |
Female John Wick. Apparently the 5 minute fight scene at the end was filmed in one take.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 15, 2017 6:51 AM |
Oh Gee, the lesbian scenes on this trailer are indeed very hot. However, i doubt that there is more lesbianism in this particular movie. I bet all the lesbian stuff is presented in the trailer. Sad.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 22, 2017 11:34 AM |
Wow, a woman can totally do those things to men thrice her size!
Jk. Looks good.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 22, 2017 11:39 AM |
I have no trouble believing Charlize Theron could kick my ass.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 22, 2017 11:45 AM |
While promoting the film at CinemaCon, Charlize told USA TODAY she's very proud of the "sexy" scene, and that the all-female love scene is important.
"It's not something we see enough of in cinema, these kinds of relationships or exploration," said Theron. "It's very real. And we're so scared of it. And it's beautiful in the film. It's very sexy. The two of us talked a lot about how it's about time that women can own their sexuality the same way males get to in movies."
The love scene was not in the graphic novel upon which the movie is based, but they felt strongly about including it. "We wanted to push the envelope. And this felt so original," she said.

No one is afraid of Charlize Theron filming hot lesbian sex scenes.

This. There are plenty of women who could (and do) kick guys' asses.

There's nothing ground breaking about girl-on-girl sex scenes in mainstream films
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 25, 2017 2:47 PM |
Yes, but with Charlize, it is groundbreaking R17. Isn't it? Obviously, it is. Very hot scene.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 25, 2017 8:32 PM |
LChat posters are convinced Charlize sleeps with women in real life.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 26, 2017 1:26 AM |
R1, there's a reason for that.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 30, 2017 6:50 PM |
Charlize is a psycho, and should only play psycho roles. She's great at them.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 30, 2017 8:31 PM |
So can we expect a bit of man up the otter man's arse in the next James Bond flick?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 30, 2017 9:39 PM |
If Theron agrees to it I'm seeing multiple sequels here. This could be the role that defines her career.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 30, 2017 9:42 PM |
who is this Charlize hater on DL? Kinda annoying really.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 31, 2017 5:36 AM |
Name any actor, there are usually a few haters, even when there is no reason.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 31, 2017 5:41 AM |
Saw it. Not great. Charlize is great at fight scenes but the accent was terrible ("apprEESEEate") and some times she was trying way too hard to look cool. It had way too many convoluted plot twists and the structure of the narrative didn't work. McAvoy looked hot.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 31, 2017 6:06 AM |
R27 Are you the charlize hater on here?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 31, 2017 6:08 AM |
R27 I thought her accent was on purpose because she's american after all and not british.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 31, 2017 6:09 AM |

McAvoy is ugly AF

Yawn. Lesbian sex as titillating is so 1999..
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 31, 2017 7:03 AM |
No, r28. I'm not the "hater". I like Charlize...she's why I went. Loved her in MAD MAX and thought she should have been nominated for it...and YOUNG ADULT, as well.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 1, 2017 3:15 AM |
R27, I was under the impression the in-and-out accent was a conscious acting choice on her part.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 1, 2017 8:48 PM |
This movie never would have been made if it was about two men. Straight fanboys find lesbians (or bisexual women in this case) hot.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 1, 2017 9:16 PM |
Exactly, R17.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 1, 2017 9:18 PM |
R17 & R37 fail to take into consideration the f/f sex scene involved the protagonist in the spy/thriller genre. Imagine Bond having a sex scene with some cute twink spy. So this is a big fucking deal and it would be nice if you guys (if you're gay) would stop trying to play down the significance of what CT pulled off with the making of this film.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 1, 2017 9:56 PM |
Charlize and McAvoy are great and sizzle throughout, but the story is muddled and goes off the rail. The violence is graphic, gratuitous, and prolonged. It has a soulless vibe despite a cool setting and visuals.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 1, 2017 10:03 PM |
McAvoy and Charlize are hellahot. McAvoy has a very tight buff body that sizzles in fitted clothing
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 1, 2017 10:04 PM |
R23 it's a flop so I don't think we'll be seeing multiple sequels.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 1, 2017 10:24 PM |
The over-hyped Lesbianism and shills everywhere didn't pack the theaters???
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 1, 2017 10:27 PM |
Loved the fight scenes and Charlize was fucking hot. It's a movie, not the second coming; I got my $8 worth.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 1, 2017 10:38 PM |
R41, it cost 30M to make and it made 25M this weekend. It's not a flop and it will most likely garner a sequel.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 1, 2017 10:47 PM |
It was not a box office bomb. It made enough to jumpstart a franchise.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 1, 2017 10:53 PM |
Not that I think it would have been as involved as the Charlize Theron/Sofia Boutella scene in the film but James McAvoy said that he wanted his character to be gay (maybe bisexual) but because they were already exploring that with Charlize's character the writers nixed his suggestion.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 5, 2017 8:15 PM |
R46, but they did allow him to choose his ratty look. He's wonderfully smarmy and comedic in this film.

Do you not understand maths? 30M is less than 25M. It was a bomb and lost money.💣💥💸
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 12, 2017 9:06 AM |
I like Charlize Theron. I watched some of this on the internet and turned if off after 15 minutes
If you want to see her kick some ass watch 2 Days In The Valley

[quote] Do you not understand maths? 30M is less than 25M. It was a bomb and lost money.
The rest of us here all understand math. 30 is actually more than 25
It goes like this, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and THEN 30. My 4 yr old niece knows this. Maybe one day she can teach you
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 12, 2017 9:34 AM |
Per Box Office Mojo, the budget was $30M and the current (as of Aug 10) worldwide gross is just under $50M. If the film has legs it might get a sequel, but the disappointing opening ($18M) and domestic ($38.2M) are barriers.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 12, 2017 11:27 AM |
Fuckin' asshole, now every time someone searches for my song, the raggedy ass nasty cunt face usurping bitch's movie will come up instead
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 12, 2017 12:26 PM |
It wasn't as good as V.I. Warshawski, but it was okay.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 12, 2017 3:16 PM |
R51, D&F total as of 08/13 = 61M. It's doing just fine.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 13, 2017 5:03 PM |
61M would be fine if that's just the US. US and International, that's pathetic.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 14, 2017 10:24 AM |
I plan to see it tonight, with suitably low expectations. I'm in Dublin, Ireland, so I'll make my measly contribution to those international box office numbers.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 14, 2017 10:48 AM |
R55, you're starting to irk. The film just opened in the UK but they have yet to report numbers. Most of Europe won't see the film until its release at the end of the month and other countries have release dates throughout September . It's interesting China is not listed though.
As for profit, the film cost 30M to make. It will turn a profit.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 14, 2017 2:54 PM |
r54, Generally there are three criteria studios look at when deciding to make a sequel: (1) does the audience want it? (is there a built-in audience, does the story lend itself to a sequel, are people interested in the characters, etc.); (2) do the creatives want it? (the principal actors must be interested, and it helps if the producers and directors are in); and finally the big one: (3) can you get financing, which usually boils down to whether the first movie made enough money to attract investors to a sequel. While there is no fixed percentage, generally a film needs to make at least 130% profit (that's net of cost) to be considered for a sequel, and that is on the low end. In the case of Atomic Bomb, which had a budget of $30M (budget excludes promotional costs), the film will need to make at least $70M (230% of $30M) worldwide. As of Aug 13, the film has grossed $61.7M per Box Office Mojo. As I said above, if Atomic Bomb has legs, it can surpass the $70M mark opening the door for a conversation about a sequel. Theron has said that she envisions several sequels and that the other main cast is on board, which certainly helps the cause.

straight guy porn fodder. pass.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 14, 2017 3:36 PM |
Colombiana was a way better movie. I hoped this would be on that same level; it was not even close.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 17, 2017 12:57 AM |
Ah yes, the obligatory lesbian scene. It's supposed to be quite violent.. It's more like they're attacking each other than making love; I guess it's called "rough sex." Big deal.
The best thing I've heard about this movie is that it's well choreographed. There's a long fight scene that one critic said was well done but "excruciating to watch."
This movie features Charlize Theron in a VERY bad wig beating up large men and getting beat up herself. That's supposed to be exciting. But it makes me want to puke. I think I'll pass on this one.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 17, 2017 1:35 AM |
Yeah R60, Colombiana received a whopping 27% on Rotten Tomatoes. Such a sophisticated and discerning filmgoer.
As for R61, possibly if you actually saw the film you would realize the f/f love interest is integral to the plot and she means more to the protagonist than just a roll in the hay. Now by all means carry on with your "puking."
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 17, 2017 1:46 AM |
"Now by all means carry on with your "puking."
I will indeed. Shitty movies always make me want to heave my guts out is disgust.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 17, 2017 2:03 AM |
My friend and I laughed out loud and left the movie theater after the protagonist appears on screen pouting in a 'BOY LONDON' t-shirt. It's like some stylist asked herself: 'What else is from the eighties?' when she came up with that. I also disliked the overly obvious 1980s/Teutonic soundtrack: Peter Schilling's Major Tom, a bit of Nena, a bit of New Order. It was obviously made for people who were not alive during that time and think it all looks very 'cool'.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 17, 2017 2:44 AM |
R61, I guess I have to drill home the point once again: You haven't actually seen the film, yet you're offended. You're most likely the easily manipulated type cut from the cloth of the SJW, ordered by the great tumblr and Twitter goddesses to be offended and you diligently obey like a good little warrior.

" I guess I have to drill home the point once again: You haven't actually seen the film, yet you're offended."
I've seen the trailer and I think it looks like crap, so it kind of stands to reason I would think the whole thing is crap if I decided to waste money on seeing it . You seem very determined to defend it. Are you one of its publicists? Or maybe you just get off on violent spy movies that feature a lot of mindless extreme mayhem. At any rate, I don't "obey" anybody. I just know a shitty movie when I see one.

Watching the trailer and reading reviews can tell you a lot about a movie. For example, after seeing the trailer for Johnny Depp's movie "Mortdecai" and reading the dismal reviews I came to the conclusion that the movie sucked, Which it did. I tend to think that YOU went out to see it with high expectations and enjoyed it very much. Yes, it seems like your kind of movie.

There's nothing like a great Bond film with genuine international sets, clever banter and original score. I would hope for something like this in AB, but I'll keep an open mind. Certainly there's a market for a female Bond type.

Um, no. Lesbians always make the mistake to think they're treated the same as gay men. They aren't. And lesbianism has been done to death in mainstream pop culture. It's overexposed.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | August 22, 2017 6:52 PM |
R82, no, lesbianism in a mainstream film fronted by an A-List actor who is trying to create a franchise with a bisexual protagonist is a hell of a lot different than some throw-away f/f scene with tertiary characters. How's that for a run-on sentence?
by Anonymous | reply 83 | August 24, 2017 3:32 PM |
I watched it on HBO last night. So, it's just a bunch of skillfully choreographed fight scenes joined into an incomprehensible narrative and held together by an interrogation scene (which stands in the place of a voice-over; explains basic plot points and motivation) and on-the-nose music hits?
I was hoping the agent killed in the first scene would come back in flashbacks; I can't believe they killed off the best looking guy at the very beginning.
James McAvoy was a good baddie, but he didn't do anything that we have not seen before in these type of films. At least he showed off his new body.
Charlize looked like a drag queen in wider shots. And what happened to her face? Botox provoked gap between her upper lip and nose was painful to watch in close-ups. I was surprised how unremarkable she looked wearing a dark wig. Blonde hair does wonders for her face. Although, her blonde wig could not have stood out more in gray Berlin (so much for blending in).

If we don't see Macavoy's butt in the next one, I'm out. Unsurprised the writers nixed his suggestion of making his character gay or bi. Lesbos and lesbian sex always get more representation, especially in shitty action flicks.
