Saw him tonight on MSNBC with Ari Melber. Attended Harvard, Oxford Rhodes Scholar, Navy lieutenant. He came out in 2015.
Hottie Out Gay Mayor Pete Buttigieg, age 34, wants to lead DNC . What say you?
by Anonymous | reply 87 | May 31, 2019 12:37 AM |
Chasten Glezman is his partner in the above picture, but as far as I know they don't have any children. Pete hasn't been out that long, came out on June 16, 2015 so if they have children together they did it fast. I live in the South Bend area but don't know either of them, until recently they have been very quiet about their relationship.

Btw the name is pronounced like "boot a judge"
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 6, 2017 3:27 AM |
Ain't gonna happen. His name will be the Butt of jokes.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 6, 2017 3:27 AM |
I am the OP of the other thread but this one is more put together so I yield.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 6, 2017 3:28 AM |
We need a flyover vibe for the DNC. It's our only hope.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 6, 2017 3:28 AM |
Heard him on MSNBC. Very impressive.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 6, 2017 3:34 AM |
Buttigieg’s winning essay centered on the integrity and political courage demonstrated by U.S. Congressman Bernie Sanders of Vermont, the nation’s only Independent member of Congress.
Last night Bernie Sanders said he doesn't know Pete Buttigieg. Boom

Sorry, did a search with his name first, nothing. Thought it would be hard to miss. Link for your thread? We can share this one.

not hot AT ALL
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 6, 2017 3:39 AM |
While I love the camaraderie between R5 and the OP, I agree with R10 - he is not hot at all.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 6, 2017 3:40 AM |
Pete's partners instagram. His partner is a teacher in the South Bend school district.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 6, 2017 3:41 AM |
He is hotter than Debbie Wasserman Schultz, in fact he is the hottest person running for the office.
Like that really matters
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 6, 2017 3:44 AM |
On one hand, he's a millennial - on the other hand, he's a millennial. He could be good to bring the party into the current century at least. Snapchat yo!

Wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 6, 2017 4:07 AM |
R5, let's let mine just sink to the bottom this one is more hyped up.
You can put my vote down for the Mayor guy. The DNC needs to shake things up.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 6, 2017 4:28 AM |
R5 here I mean
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 6, 2017 4:28 AM |
Ain't no way Pete Buttplug or whoever is going to be president!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 6, 2017 4:46 AM |
I think the Hon. Mayor is more appealing than Keith Ellison, who has more of the heavy-hitter Dem support. Ellison seems like a nice, competent guy, but sorry, the Dems don't need a Muslim as the leader at this moment.
Yes, I know my statement sounds bigoted; however, I want to win. This Repug takeover cannot stand. We must fight back with a winner. Actually, I like Tim Ryan of Ohio the best over the gay mayor. Yes, I'm gay, but hetero Tim Ryan could be much more appealing to the voters who voted against their own self-interest and elected this fucking douchebag Trump,
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 6, 2017 5:00 AM |
Agree but Ryan was running for something else I think.
Whoever it is needs to be white. I hate to say it but whatever it takes to win. 😬
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 6, 2017 5:05 AM |
They'll find out he was doing blow with a male twink hooker. We are our own worst enemies. Trust me. Let's not have one of our own destroy the entire party.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 6, 2017 5:58 AM |
Gayface in my opinion
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 6, 2017 6:33 AM |
Yeah, we lost the election because the DNC elite did not want Bernie, so let's let them pick no names like Buttigieg and tim ryan. WE have Bernie and Elizabeth Warren, eff off to these loser no names.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 6, 2017 6:38 AM |
I assume he's a moderate, which would help a lot. Also, he seems honest, which would be a major switch from DWS and Donna Brazile.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 6, 2017 6:42 AM |
Hmm...no mention of being a USN officer in Wikipedia.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 6, 2017 6:50 AM |

South Bend television station story on Pete Buttigieg
SOUTH BEND, IN - — The news of South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg running for chair of the Democratic National Committee is already getting a lot of national attention.
One political analyst called him 'one of the most talented young leaders in the Democratic Party.'
The Mayor has to campaign for this job, but endorsements are already coming in from Democrats all over the country, including Mayors and State Senators.
Even the chair of the Indiana Democratic Party said he'll support Buttigieg.
"What you're seeing now in the fight for the future of the Democratic Party and the DNC are a lot of arguments about how the DNC needs to work better at a more granular level, at a more state-by-state and county-by-county level and speak to voters at a much lower level than just helping the Presidential candidates," said Steve Chaggaris, a Senior Political Editor with CBS News.
Buttigieg believes he can be that leader.
The chair of Indiana's Democratic Party agrees. MORE AT LINK

34-year-old Pete Buttigieg is a Navy veteran, former Rhodes Scholar, and the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana – in a red state. And now Buttigieg is running for DNC Chair because he believes he’s the political outsider that Democrats need to win future elections.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 7, 2017 11:43 PM |
That's an unfortunate name for a politician.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 8, 2017 4:11 PM |
Like that really matters.
It doesn't.
Does he know his stuff? Is he a strong writer and speaker? Is he fearless and assertive? Will he stand up to so-called enemies and naysayers? Will he advocate for all of the Dem's constituents? Does he have what it takes to facilitate positive change?
[bold]That's[/bold] what matters.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 8, 2017 4:29 PM |
Mr. Buttplug will never be chairman.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 8, 2017 4:39 PM |
Mayor Pete Buttigieg greets President Obama at the South Bend International Airport, yes "International" even though there are no flights to destinations outside the US, but they are looking for one.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence listens to South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg this photo was taken before Mayor Buttigieg came out as gay, so the disgust on Mike Pence's face is simply because Pete is a Democratic Mayor.

by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 9, 2017 3:06 PM |
Too young. No national level experience.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 9, 2017 3:17 PM |
Trump doesn't have national level experience either and got elected president so ... .
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 9, 2017 3:26 PM |
Running the DNC isn't like running the nation, it is more akin to running a company, a nonprofit or a city. It organization and fund raising.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 9, 2017 3:50 PM |
Lol at the people arguing if he's not or not. A gay man could cure cancer and all infectious disease but the only thing that would matter to you bitches is if he's hot.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 9, 2017 3:58 PM |
Trump doesn't have national level experience either and got elected president so ... .
I don't think "be like Trump" is a winning formula.
I worry about anyone who thinks the Sanders approach is the way to go. Running a country is amazingly complicated and I don't understand the Trump-like desire to reduce everything to simplicity.
Let the Republicans gave their faux populism. We should demand more.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 9, 2017 4:52 PM |
So you would not support Buttigieg for this, r50?
If not, who?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 9, 2017 9:23 PM |
Considering his background and policies, it's odd that he's a Democrat. It's probably a family thing. South Bend is a Democratic city.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 9, 2017 10:19 PM |
You think America will swallow a gay Buttgag?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 9, 2017 10:41 PM |
He looks like a beaver. Commenting on his looks is separate from considering his qualifications. I think he needs to win more than a mayoral race in some third-rate shithole before giving him the reins of a national party. The optics are good now, but he's too young and inexperienced to be effective. Comparisons to Trump's outsider status do not stack up: Trump has been a national figure since the 80s.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | January 10, 2017 12:53 PM |
Who do you like for the post, r54?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 10, 2017 1:03 PM |
Such an overachiever. He must be exhausting to be around.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | January 10, 2017 1:57 PM |
Actually. he's off-putting, and 2015 is way too late to come out for someone of his background.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 10, 2017 2:04 PM |
Yeah I wish him the best in his career and will be looking out for him, but I agree...he is a mayor some town in Indiana. He needs to cut his teeth more in a bigger position.
Also his last name is SERIOUSLY unfortunate for a gay politician.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 10, 2017 2:56 PM |
I'm for him and will vote seven times for him.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | January 10, 2017 9:12 PM |
Just watching him on Chris Matthews. Chris takes 5 minutes to splutter and split his question. Pete keeps on point though. Chris has become an unbearable blowhard.
Chris hardly lets Pete get a few sentences out before he splutters in. Maybe Chris should pretend that Pete is a bleached out hag who shills for Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | January 17, 2017 11:37 PM |
Not alpha enough. If a gay guy is going to hold national political office, he's going to have to be pretty fucking tough.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | January 17, 2017 11:58 PM |
I support him for DNC leader. Definitely.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | January 18, 2017 12:27 AM |
At Gw Bush Airport IAH during the protests against Trump's EO stopping travel. He was translating from the Arabic to help out.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 29, 2017 3:46 AM |
He's from a working class town where the average household income is only $19,000. He may appeal to Walmart shoppers in flyover land, but he's never going to appeal to the more cultured Democratic base on the coasts.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 29, 2017 5:01 AM |
Bottoms don't make good leaders.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 29, 2017 5:57 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 29, 2017 6:25 AM |
Wtf are you talking about r64? The last two democratic presidents, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama both had very modest upbringings. That sort of thing is appealing to democratic voters.
The last two Republican Presidents, Trump and Bush both had incredibly elitist and rich upbringings.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 29, 2017 2:16 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 12, 2019 4:55 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 73 | March 12, 2019 5:47 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 12, 2019 5:56 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 76 | March 12, 2019 5:58 PM |
r74 Who cares, anyway? Trump - a walking talking horror show - got elected with a name like TRUMP and we're calling him Turd now and yet he's still in the White House, ruining the country day and night.
Honestly, you underestimate people. The vast majority of voters have left the primary school years behind and don't base their voting on a name alone.

by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 12, 2019 6:01 PM |

He needs to get donations from 65k different donors in order to make it to the televised DNC debate. Mary! We gays need to pull it off.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 12, 2019 6:15 PM |
R77. Trump is a straight asshole there is a difference. He is an alpha male a trait most straight dudes love.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 12, 2019 6:37 PM |

R86 it is also super sketchy how he was in non-military intelligence when it is not like he is a computer programmer or telecommunications specialist. He comes across as your garden variety narcissist. I am a polyglot and know multiple languages but I teach students, and never want to go into politics.
From Wikipedia: From 2007 to 2010, he worked at McKinsey and Company, a consulting firm.
