I think Johnny Manziel will be the surprising but not surprising death. The one you saw coming but just didn't know when.

I think we'll get another Heath Ledger/Cory Monteith death in 2017. Young, the general public will be shocked because they never knew the person had a problem- or PR's just been that good - but industry insiders won't be surprised at all.

I'm amazed Lindsay Lohan is still around. Maybe theirs something to be said for coming from a family of addicts. Perhaps her gene pool has built up more tolerance to abuse over the years.

by Anonymousreply 93December 26, 2016 1:20 PM

Someone on another thread predicted that Tom Petty will die soon. I'm adding his guitarist, Mike Campbell to the list. He's collapsed at a few of the Heartbreakers shows and almost fell off the stage and onto my friend at a Dirty Knobs show. I've also seen the keyboard player huffing oxygen whwn he thought nobody was watching him duck under his piano, so I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 of them bite it in the upcoming year.

by Anonymousreply 170December 29, 2016 8:45 PM

Who will go first, Townshend or Daltrey?

Carol Channing, Stephen Sondheim, Angela Lansbury, George Hearn, Janis Paige, and Chita Rivera, plunging Broadway into eternal darkness.

by Anonymousreply 173December 29, 2016 8:57 PM

I just saw Chita at a Jim Caruso/Klea Blackhurst/Billy Stritch Christmas show at Birdland. She looked trim and energetic and seemed to be having a wonderful time. She may never headline a Broadway show again, sadly, but I think she'll last through 2017. Hopefully!

The others, who can say? Is George Hearn not well? Is that why he retired?

by Anonymousreply 174December 29, 2016 9:01 PM

OK. OK. So here's a movie plot: It's the State of the Union.Everyone is there except for one of the Supreme Court justices and Mad Dog Mattis from the DoD. OK. So Trump is giving his state of the union at the capitol. Pence is there. Bannon is there. Jared & Ivanka are there. (Barron had "the flu" and Miss Mellie stayed in NYC to care for him.)

Ryan is there. McConnell is there. All the cabinet is there. Sessions, Tillerson, Mnuchin, Carson, De Vos, Price, etc. (Miss Lindsey Graham was unable to attend because she was having her color done and it come out all green and funny lookin' and she wasn't about to come out with a wig or a head scarf now was she! Her BFF, John McCain also stayed behind to sit with her. Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren, Diane Feinstein, Chuck Schumer, Stennie Hoyer, and most of the Democratic House Caucus, and Senators boycotted.)

OK. Unbeknownst to the assemblage, the Mad King, Richard the First of his Name, King of the Andals and the Nixons, had planted wildfire all over the capitol when he was about to get impeached because he was so angry at Congress. Bernie Sanders, who is a history buff read about it. He was discussing it and was over heard. It took very little coaxing to get Reince Priebus to come down the basement with me... and Poof! Problem solved.
