Bryan Adams

I love "Summer of '69"... had no idea the singer was so hot.

Black and white photography (not to mention airbrushing) really covers the pockmarks.

He once wrote a song which was recorded by Roger Daltrey called "Let Me Down Easy" and appeared in the video. You could really see the acne scarring in that one.

by Anonymousreply 4November 1, 2016 3:13 AM

He was linked with Todd Oldham.

Supposedly there are tons of stories of him being a creepy perv with fans. For some reason I just can't picture it.

by Anonymousreply 7November 1, 2016 3:20 AM

He did a 'live' video for 'Everything I Do (For You)'. My roommate at the time obtained tickets (they were free, for the taping of the video), and got stood up, so he asked me to come with him. If you watch the video, that's me in the back. The hot chicks were put in the front. I believe it was held at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, 1991 or so. My only appearance in a YouTube video - all the other videos I'm in are probably on some amateur porn sites. I get asked numerous times 'can I record this?'

[quote]ahhh, Night Tracks. Those were the days. I'd stay up late Friday and Sat. Nights watching videos and flipping to HBO while the rest of my family slept.

Yep, me too. Also Night Flight (on USA). Night Flight showed more eccentric/underground stuff, Night Tracks often had more soul/R&B. Both of them covered some ground not commonly seen on MTV. I'd fill up VHS tapes with this stuff.

by Anonymousreply 32November 1, 2016 8:28 AM

Yes Night Flight was great. They would show interesting independent films late at night too. I first saw "Smithereens" there which is a favorite film of mine.

"Cuts Like a Knife" on MTV was when BA entered my radar screen.

Never paid money for any of his stuff back then, but he has a few gems in his repertoire that I really like. They're evocative of different and pleasant times in my life.

I'd pay to go see Bryan Adams in concert today provided it wasn't in some huge venue. That's my best compliment about him.

by Anonymousreply 47November 1, 2016 1:34 PM

He actually looks better now, in my opinion. Must have had dermabrasion and fillers, although his face looks nice and lean. The slick short haircut flatters him too.

Interesting fact, he is an accomplished photographer and has even taken an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

by Anonymousreply 48November 1, 2016 1:42 PM

yes, R48, i actually thought he had left music for photography by now. Never heard these gay rumors before... any tale?

by Anonymousreply 49November 1, 2016 2:30 PM

Bryan Adams is also a notorious asshole.

by Anonymousreply 50November 1, 2016 3:15 PM

I remember thinking he was cute on his "Cuts Like a Knife" album cover (yes, I'm old,) but then I got a closer look at that pock-marked/scarred skin -- yikes! This thread is the first I've heard of gay rumors -- if memory serves, when he first hit, he was dating the daughter of director Ken Russell.

by Anonymousreply 51November 1, 2016 3:17 PM

Gay rumors have been around forever. I actually worked on the "Cuts Like a Knife" video. Adams was a really good guy but I could see he was really trying to ingratiate himself with everyone. For the record, the stunning girl in the video, Raquel Pena, he didn't take a second look at.

I remember when "Summer of '69" was on my hot friend's car radio (we were parked and smoking pot and drinking beer), and I made a joke about what '69' really meant. He was clueless.

"Hop in the back seat and I'll show you."

He did. I did. We were stoned. Thank you, Brian. You got me off to the start of some hot high school mutual blowjobs (Funny, we never fucked).

by Anonymousreply 58November 1, 2016 11:38 PM

What about Adams' sexy Don Juan DeMarco video for 'Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman'?

I say sexy because Johnny Depp has never looked hotter.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 59November 1, 2016 11:41 PM

As far as Adams being sexy, I always thought he looked good in the cheeky 'The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You' video, but only in the bathroom scenes, when his hair is out of his face and he's in the black outfit.

In the other scenes he has too much of a Denis Leary thing going on to be hot. And the hair is awful.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 60November 1, 2016 11:48 PM

Ditto on he's an asshole. He's known to be a druggie with anger issues who goes out of his way to act like a horrendous shit stain. I remember hearing about how he would act like a Diva (even though his career had been over for more than a decade) and some of his antics would totally make him gay.

by Anonymousreply 61November 1, 2016 11:54 PM

Was there something not right, an incident, broken teacups and a tumble down the stairs at his house that Dina Lohan had to explain away? When Lindsey was not yet fully washed up?

by Anonymousreply 62November 2, 2016 12:11 AM

This was one of the first 45s I ever bought with my own money. I liked the song, but I think it was mostly because he looked cute.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 63November 2, 2016 12:36 AM

R26 that is wild, never knew they collaborated. Lou Gramm is underrated, he's an almost peerless rock vocalist and is pure emotion when he sings.

by Anonymousreply 64November 2, 2016 12:40 AM

The same is true of Drake Bell, R7. He comes across so gay & disinterested in women but girls are constantly ratting him out to TMZ for his all-round Nastiness. Hard to know who or what to believe.

Come to think of it Bell's looks, vocals and guitar stylings are similar to Adams', too. The only big difference is in sound - Bryan favors country/AOR rock that has one foot in the 80s and one foot in the 00s while Bell roots himself in 90s pop, 50s rockabilly and McCartney. Other than that they could be ginger brothers.

I bought plenty of 45s in the 80s. They were cheap. I didn't always have enough money saved up for an LP.

However, it's probably true that adults didn't tend to buy many 45s (unless they were collector types).

by Anonymousreply 70November 2, 2016 6:27 AM

I had B.A. on a flight from MSY to LGA back in 1981. I had only ween him previously in the "Cuts Like A Knife" video which made him look quite cute and sexy--although quite short.

What a freakin' disappointment he was. My god he was homely. The only worse looking pop/rock singer I have had on one of my flights was Gene Simmons. At that time he had yet to be seen sans makeup, so the shock of his ugly mug was massive.

Adams was not only fugly, but he was a jerk as well. He was sitting in coach, and he spent the entire flight flitting back and forth visiting with his band mates throughout the cabin.

by Anonymousreply 80April 7, 2017 2:45 AM

Wasn't it just troublesome skin he had, R80? Which he later had laser-treated, or some such?

He always came over quite smart & sharp on television, although he's got a very bleak sense of humor and took things a little too seriously when younger.

R83 Look ya sassy lil whipper snapper, I'm old okay? Obviously if I was a hot number in the early eighties I am older than dirt now,

So I was off a couple of years, Sue me.

And yes, to the other poster. It was 95% his acne and 5% his munchkin size which made him a disappointment in person. And I got no direct impression as to his sexual orientation. If he is gay, he isn't a prissy, dignified proper gay man. He was a rollicking ball of energy type.

by Anonymousreply 86April 7, 2017 5:32 PM

r1, Please dish. my mum loves the Everything I do song which I discovered because she also loved the cover by Brandy and played that album a zillion times growing up. He was smokin hot at one time.

True story: My hubby and I were on a driving tour thru Italy back in 2001 and Bryan Adams was, like, a huuuuuge pop star there. You couldn't sit through one hour on a pop station without one of his songs coming on. And I'm not talking about the classics, either. He had all new material, sometimes even in Italian.

So that's how he walked off into the sunset after the eighties were over....

by Anonymousreply 91April 7, 2017 6:34 PM

R83 one of the first moments of 'queer-eye' in my life happened via the CLAK video.

As I mentioned upthread, I had a cute crush on Badams as a young kid and wore out his every tape, watched his every video...I didn't realise at the time but every time the CLAK vid came on rotation I was watching the 'video-girl' intently and not Bryan. Thought I wanted to BE her as a kid. God, I really had no idea...

by Anonymousreply 93April 9, 2017 12:27 PM

You can only fix acne scarring so much and sometimes the results will not be satisfactory.

I have a few deep pox marks in my face and it would run nearly $10,000 to fix them, with no guarantee, and in the end my overall face wouldn't be improved by anything much.

by Anonymousreply 94April 9, 2017 12:55 PM

Has Bryan ever recorded a duet with another man? (apart from the feature he did on that 'Three Musketeers' OST, which, no).

He's cut several with female artists, and while they're all great it would be so cool to hear him sing an original vs. a man before he hangs it up.

by Anonymousreply 97April 15, 2017 6:51 AM

very few rock stars were good-looking, and at least from pictures and videos to go by, people generally didn't look good in the 80s and 70s, but dl doesn't get it.

by Anonymousreply 98April 15, 2017 7:06 AM

Pock marks can be hot on a guy if he's good looking otherwise. Ray Liotta had the same look going on. It brings to mind a sordid past as a helplessly horny teenager. The marks are the calling card left by wild hormones.

by Anonymousreply 99April 15, 2017 7:29 AM

His rock-image was exactly that kind of Levis-bursting-apart type of thing, R99. It gave his safe ballad-rock some grit, as if your local Tuff at the gas-station wrote serenades after a long night of pumping gas and sweating out the oil in his pores. It worked perfectly for his style.

His voice has a 'rough' quality to match, it's really sexy. Anyone know if it's his natural voice, or if he made it so via smoking or something?

by Anonymousreply 100April 16, 2017 5:04 PM

Curious, but not conclusive.

He used to be a rockstar, so maybe beautiful pro models & actresses aren't to his taste and he digs women with a little more dirtiness about them. Surprising how many men will turn down good clean fun with a together 9 for a 6 or 7 who looks like she knows how to drive stick and do donuts, so to speak.

He's a major Scorpio and they often become sex addicts with 'motel' lifestyles & palates, so there's that.
